This paper presents an initial evaluation of possible effect of xenophobic violence on the Johannesburg Stock Market. Violence is inimical to economic development as it constraints normal business operations and causes a rebound on the stock market. The paper applied the event trend analysis combined with a statistical t-test of paired sample means in the pre and post-xenophobic period stock performance. Data was drawn from the JSE All Share Index - Capped Indices Performance (J303 - Capi DY) for 2008 and 2015, during & after the xenophobic violence of 2008 and 2015. The economic consequences of social instability were substantiated with related literature. The theoretical foundation was inclined on the integrated threat theory and the social contract theory. Findings from the analysis of paired sample t-test showed a significant difference in means of stock performance with P<0.05 within and after the xenophobic period. Furthermore, a t-test of similarity in stock performance chart for periods of xenophobic violence 2008 and 2015 showed no significant difference in stock performance trend – indicating similarity in stock chart between 2008 and 2015 periods of xenophobic violence. The paper recommends the need for further research of a broader scope that will consider many years of xenophobic events or similar violence across countries using multiple stock performance and economic performance indicators

The Mergers are carried out by the companies to get a number of benefits. Mutually beneficial conditions will occur if the merger activities carried out can create the synergy, which finally, it is expected to improve the company's performance. This study aims to determine whether the financial performance after the merger has changed or not. The financial ratios studied are financial ratios four years after the merger and before the merger. This research was conducted by quantitative methods, by taking data from PT. Bank Woori Saudara Indonesia 1906, Tbk, which has merged in 2014 and has engaged in banking financial services. Sampling in this study uses quota sampling. the data is obtained from one bank, that is, a bank which has merged. The parametric test used to answer the hypothesis in this study was the Paired Sample T-Test. The results of this study indicate that in partial testing of the seven financial ratios, there was a significant difference in the ratio of BR and EPS, while the CAR, TATO, NPM, ROI, and ROE ratios showed no significant differences. So the merger process carried out by banks does not show a significant difference because the synergy has not yet been achieved after the merger.

The study is thus aimed to assess and compare the efficacy of Herbostra oil pulling mouthwash with Chlorhexidine mouthwash in reducing plaque accumulation around orthodontic brackets. A total of 20 patients were considered in this study randomly assigned into Group I (experimental group - Herbostra oil pulling mouthwash) and Group II (reference group-0.2% Chlorhexidine mouthwash). The plaque index scores were recorded in each individual at baseline (pre) and after 3 weeks (post). Dental plaque samples were collected around the orthodontic brackets at the cervical region of maxillary upper molars and lower incisors by cotton swabbing method and evaluated for the presence of microflora. Paired sample t-test for Streptococcus mutans count showed that statistically significant difference only within the group II (p=0.000) (Chlorhexidine group) and there was no significant difference within the group I (p=0.103) (Herbostra group). Paired sample t-test for plaque index score shows statistically significant difference within the groups (0.000).Independent t test showed statistically significant difference in the levels of  Streptococcus mutans count after 3 weeks between the two groups (p=0.000) with the mean values of (2.230±0.5056), (1.080±0.3458) in group I and group II respectively. From this study we concluded that, even though there was a reduction in plaque scores and S. mutans count with Herbostra oil pulling mouthwash but it was not as effective as Chlorhexidine mouth rinse.

Background: Disorder of dynamic balance is often found in children with Down syndrome which causes difficulty in maintaining posture against impending disorders. If this is left it will certainly cause problems of further motor development. Purpose: To prove the physiotherapy intervention that can improve dynamic balance among children with down syndrome 7-15 years. Methods: The research is true experimental with pre-test and post-test group design. This study used 24 subjects in 2 groups, group 1 (n=11) given dynamic neuromuscular stabilization on while group 2 (n=11) given perceptual motor program. Divided randomly into 2 groups that is group 1 dynamic neuromuscular stabilization and group 2 perceptual motor program. The exercise is held 3 times a week in 6 weeks. Measurements of this dynamic balance are using sixteen balance tests. Result: The paired sample t-test statistical test in group 1 showed a significant difference with value (p <0.001) on mean before intervention 48.5±5.428 and after intervention 72.75±4.413. The paired sample t-test statistical test in group 2 showed a significant difference with value (p <0.001) on mean before intervention 48.5±5.3 and after intervention 69.42±4.379. Different test between group 1 and 2 using independent sample t-test showed a significant difference with value (p<0.001). Conclusion: The conclusions are dynamic neuromuscular stabilization is better than perceptual motor program in improving dynamic balance among children with down syndrome 7-15 years at Pradnyagama Foundation Denpasar.

During labor, women experience many reproductive changes, one of which is uterine involution. If the uterine involution is late to return to normal, it will cause subinvolution, puerperal gymnastic techniques and kegel exercises are the easiest techniques to use and are very effective. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of puerperal gymnastic and kegel exercises on uterine involution in postpartum mothers day 1-3 at BPM Hj. Nengah Mardani Tenggarang Bondowoso. This type of research uses a pre-experimental research methodology using a two-group interpretation-posttest design, with a sample of 30 respondents. The sampling technique in this study used total sampling. Data analysis used paired sample t test and independent t test. The independent t test results showed that there was no significant difference between puerperal gymnastic and kegel exercises in overcoming uterine involution in postpartum mothers with a p value of 0.039 (p value> α 0.05). Of the two techniques, Kegel exercises were more effective in reducing involution. uterus with a mean difference of 6.7333> than the mean puerperal gymnastic of 5.8000.

The objectives of this study were to find out: (1) whether or not there was a significant improvement on students’ narrative writing achievement between before and after the students were taught by using Islamic history videos through SWELL Strategy, and (2) whether or not there was a significant difference on students’ narrative writing achievement between the students who were taught by using Islamic history videos through SWELL Strategy and those who were not. The population of this study was all the eleventh grade students of Senior High School Nurul Iman Palembang which consisted of 65 students. The sample of this study was taken by using total sampling. Thus, the total number of the sample was 65 students. The sample was XI Science class (control group) which consisted of 33 students and XI Social Science class (experimental group) which consisted of 32 students. In collecting the data, written test was used. The test was given twice to both experimental and control group, as a pretest and posttest. To verify the hypotheses, the data of students’ pretest and posttest of both groups were analyzed by using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test in SPSS. The findings showed that the p-output (sig 2-tailed) from paired sample t-test was 0.000 which was lower than 0.05, and the t-value 7.954 which was higher than t-table 2.040 (with df= 31). Then, p-output from independent sample t-test was 0.021 which was lower than 0.05, and t-value 2.371 which was higher than t-table 1.998 (with df= 63). Therefore, it could be inferred that narrative writing by using Islamic history videos through Social-Interactive Writing for English Language Learners (SWELL) Strategy gave significant improvement on the students’ narrative writing achievement, and gave significant difference between students’ who were taught by using Islamic history videos through SWELL Strategy and those who were not.
