There are very few Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) that focus on adult and elderly religious education. Whereas adult humans and elderly are thirsty and need religious education.The aim of this research is to delve the concept of Islamic education for adults and elderly and its implementation in Pesantren Darut Tauhid. The research method used qualitative approach, which describes the role of pesantren in responding to the needs of adult and elderly beings to equip their personal lives and prepare themselves to return to Him. Darut Tauhid provides a solution through the Golden Islamic Boarding School Program. The material presented was from daily worship to role play in the grave that was played by the participants. This method is following by Knowles where adults prefer to learn based on needs, life experience, hands-on practice, and carry out social activities of interest.

International Journal of Contemporary Islamic Education volume 2 issue 1 offers six   articles covering topics of Islamic education studies. Various issues relating to Islamic education interestingly presented to contribute to the body of knowledge and practices. Academia and practitioners in Islamic education studies may gain insight from reading the articles.   The first article is titled “Active Learning Strategies Implementation in Arabic Teaching at Senior High School” written by Asmawati Asmawati, Asy’ari Asy’ari, and Malkan Malkan from Postgraduate studies Institut Agama Islam Negeri Palu. This paper discusses the implementation of  active learning strategy in Arabic teaching at a senior high school in Palu city. The second article is titled “ Teachers’ Strategy in Improving Students’ Learning Achievement  of Al-Qur’an and Hadits  at Madrasah Tsanawiyah” written by Mardiah Mardiah, Askar Askar, and Rustina Rustina.   The paper discussed the strategies of teachers of the Qur'an and hadith subjects in improving the learning achievement of students in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Al-Khairaat Biromaru.  The third article is titled “Contribution of Islamic Education Values in Marriage Tradition of Banggai Ethnic, Indonesia” written by Oyan D. Taufik, Sagaf S. Pettalongi, and Sidik Sidik. The paper discusses  the contribution of Islamic education values in marriage according to the customs of the tribe in district of Banggai Bulagi. The fourth paper is tittled “The Role of Environment in Improving Learning Quality:  A Case Study of Al-Istiqamah Modern Islamic Boarding School” written by Rara Pratiwi, Kamaruddin Kamaruddin, and Adawiyah Adawiyah. The paper discusses the role of learning environment in improving the quality of learning students in modern boarding school Al-Istiqamah Ngatabaru. The fifth article is titled “Effectiveness the Use of Audio Visual Media in Teaching Islamic Religious Education” written by Winarto Winarto, Ahmad Syahid, and Fatimah Saguni. The paper discussed  the effectiveness of using audio visual as media in improving learning achievement of a Islamic Junior high school. The last paper  is title “The Role of Islamic Education Teachers Competency in Improving the Quality of Education” written by Zuhaeriah Zuhaeriah, Moh. Ali, and Yusra Yusra. Islamic Boarding school is an islamic education institution which has an identical tradition in indonesian muslim societuy. This institution has emerged long before the colonialism era in Indonesia. In its long history since years to pursue the concept of modernism, islamic boarding school, sometimes ,has also been perceived negatively because of transnasionalism ideology which is adopted in recent years. In that case, this paper aimed to describe the existence of islamic boarding school in indonesian social life. By argumenting and comparing some previous studies in this case to gain an accurate result. Moreover, this paper is intended to answer some western perception about islamic boarding school in Indonesia, and finally emphasize the role of islamic boarding school as a government partner and its function in creating democracy.  Keyword: Islamic Boarding School, Tradition, Modernization.

  The objectives of this research are as follows 1). This study aims to determine the perception of Al-Quran Hadith teachers on the implementation of the 2013 curriculum at the Al Washliyah Stabat Private Tsanawiyah Madrasah. 2). To find out the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in Al-Quran Hadith learning at the Al Washliyah Stabat Private Tsanawiyah Madrasah. 3). To find out the role of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Private Al Washliyah Stabat in implementing the 2013 curriculum in the subjects of Al-Quran Hadith. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research, namely this type of research describes the state of objects or events without an intention to draw conclusions that apply in general. In this study, it is intended to describe the role of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Private Al Washliyah Stabat as a forum to form students who have superior quality by using the latest learning curriculum, namely Curriculum 2013. stabat. The background of the problem in this study is that the implementation of the Islamic education curriculum is not fully implemented in the Al-Washliyah Stabat Private Tsanawiyah Madrasah regarding the curriculum that is still applied in teaching and learning activities, namely the 2013 curriculum. Islamic religious education curriculum is limited to the field of study of Islamic Religious Education such as the field of study of the Qur'an and Hadith. This research is included in the qualitative research model, meaning that the data used in this study is qualitative data (data that does not consist of numbers) in the form of verbal messages, dialogues and writings that are the results of research through library research activities and field observations and conducting research. Documentation of the objectives of this study are: To find out the perception of Al-Quran Hadith teachers on the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta Al Washliyah Stabat. To find out the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in Al-Qur'an Hadith learning at the Al Washliyah Stabat Private Tsanawiyah Madrasah. To find out the role of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Private Al Washliyah Stabat in implementing the 2013 curriculum in Al-Quran Hadith subjects. The results of this research are: Madrasah Tsanawiyah has a significant role in preserving the continuity of Islamic education and Islamic ethical moral values ​​in the implementation of the 2013 curriculum. In terms of the process of implementing learning in MTs. Private Al Washliyah Stabat has been implemented well by making students more participative in learning and teaching activities

da'wah in Indonesia. In addition, Islamic boarding schools are defined as sustainable ritual institutions, moral development institutions, as covering Islamic Education. It is also as social institutions that have experienced various life variations; which is adjusted to the burden of growth of the community in the midst of the pesantren. This research is intended to describe the history  and the social changes of the  communities of the Al-Ishlah Sidamulya Astanajapura Cirebon Islamic Boarding School. It is also to describe the role of the Boarding School in fostering the lives of the community around the pesantren. This study uses historical history studies. The results of this study indicated that the Al-Ishlah Sidamulya Islamic Boarding School is one of the pesantren which has an important role in matters relating to the Sidamulya community; in religious, educational, social and economic fields of the communities. The social changes happen in the communities are malima activity (the thief, main, madat, mabok, madon) changed to salima (shubuh, dhuhur, ashar, maghrib and isya). In addition, planting the values of Islam to show the real Muslim through routine tarikat (Tijaniyah), activities of manakiban, tahlilan and tadarrusan.

Abstract: In countries with multi-ethnic consists of religion, and race such as Indonesia, the role of Islamic religious education is very important and strategic. See sectarian conflict based on culture, ethnicity, race and religion going on in our society, it seems the paradigm of inclusive vision of Islamic education which emphasizes the concept of pluralism in sosial life need to be developed. Furthermore, Islam is an inclusive religious education should provide a comprehensive understanding of religion through teaching with respect religious differences without losing identity as followers of a particular religion. The teacher is the transformational media of all the knowledge needed by students. In addition, the role of teachers is very much needed especially in Islamic-based schools that always pay attention and prioritize students to continue their studies in college. To get closer and to build with high enthusiasm for the achievement of the priorities above, the researcher conducted research at second grade of Elementary School in Sidoarjo by knowing more about the leadership style of the principal in improving the work ethic of Islamic Education teachers. This study is entitled "The leadership role of school principals in improving the work ethic of Islamic Religious Education teachers at second grade of Elementary School in Sidoarjo". This research is a qualitative study, through a phenomenological approach that is a qualitative research approach rooted in philosophical and psychological and focuses on human life experiences (sociology) that produce descriptive data in the form of written or oral data from observable people's behavior. The form of research is descriptive qualitative research, namely research that describes an object relating to the problem conducted without asking research variables.The results of research on the role of principals in improving the work ethic of teachers of Islamic Education are as follows: (1) as educators: principals must have the right strategy to improve the work ethic of teachers and professional educators. (2) as a manager at school: the task of the manager is to plan something that can improve the work ethic of the teachers of Islamic Education and the quality of education, in addition the manager also organizes educational resources that have not been organized in order to unite in implementing education and control the implementation of educational outcomes . (3) as a motivator: the principal has a very close relationship with various activities in the school, such as providing motivation and encouragement, so the teacher is more disciplined and has a work spirit.

AbstractIslamic education in Southeast Asia has some diverse substances. In Indonesia, Islamic education experience rapid progress. Indonesia employ Islamic education as cumpolsarysubject in schools and public universities. In Malaysia, Islamic education has manyimprovements since 1956 e.g. Islamic education is taught in national school and alsoMalaysia also formed religious education department that handle every religious subjectin schools. Thailand, especially in couple regions such as Pattani, Setul, Yala, andNarathiwat, Islamic education with boarding school and Madrasah become islamicidentity backbone and Islamic struggle against central government. Meanwhile, differentcondition takes place to Islamic education in Singapore. There is still an unclearedpurpose between islamic education with national education system, there is no islamicuniversity, no standard curriculum, no central islamic education administration, andthe lack of fund and economical status of religion teacher.

The objectives of this study are 1) To determine the role of the yellow book on the formation of Islamic education thought in traditional Islamic boarding schools. 2) To find out the role of the yellow book in forming the character of students in traditional Islamic boarding schools. This research is a descriptive qualitative research type, and through the Education and Sociological approaches. The research location was conducted in two Islamic boarding schools, namely Bany Syafi'I Cilegon and Madarijul 'Ulum Serang. In this study the research subjects were Kiai, Ustadz / Ustadzah, board of pesantren, and santriwan / santriwati of Islamic boarding school. The research subjects used purposive sampling technique, namely determining the source of the data obtained with certain considerations and snowball sampling, namely determining the sample from a small amount to become large. When the research was carried out on August 1, 2019 to October 25, 2019 for 3 months. The role of the yellow book in shaping the character of students in the Bany Syafi'i and Madarijul 'Ulum Islamic boarding schools is still visible in terms of santri obedience to their teachers, ta'dziman wa takriman attitude towards their knowledge and also towards their environment, all of which can be assessed and formed from the results Uswatun Hasanah's attitude is a teacher / kiai. And also the role of the yellow book in shaping the character of students can obey and obey a student in accordance with what is taught by a teacher, with the demands of the book ta'limul muta'alim as the main reference and provision of the main character of the students in the Islamic boarding school, so that with good character it will create good personality and discipline too.

The history of Islamic education in Indonesia, apart from having a traditional character, not all women have had the opportunity to pursue education. The society paradigm considers that women are only weak creatures who do not need higher education. This has an impact on the role of women only in the domestic sphere, which does not have a broad role in the public sphere in society. Such social conditions moved the heart of a reformer figure in Islamic education from West Sumatra, named Rahmah el-Yunusiyah. The purpose of this study was to determine the sacrifice and struggle of Rahmah el-Yunusiah in the field of education and Rahmah el-Yunusiyah's views on the essence of Islamic religious education. She is the first female Islamic education figure to pay attention to the importance of education for women. She realizes that education is the main means to improve the position of women in the global life order. In this study using a qualitative approach. The method used is a research library. The data analysis technique used is content analysis. The result of this research shows that Rahmah el-Yunusiyah's dedication in Islamic education for women is that she founded the Diniyah school Puteri. According to him, religious education (Islam) according to him is the basis for the formation of human character, and becomes the essence for other activities. Self control is the ability of the individual to inhibit or prevent an impulse from appearing in the form of behavior that violates or contradicts moral standards. In another definition self-control is a network that is intact or integrated between individuals and their environment. Individuals who have high self-control seek to find and apply appropriate ways to behave in varied situations. Self-control affects individuals to change their behavior according to social situations so as to manage the impression of being more responsive to situational, flexible, and warm and open guidelines. Self-control is concerned with how the individual controls his emotions and drives from within himself. According to the scientific concept, emotion control means directing emotional energy to a useful and socially acceptable expression channel. Teachers' efforts in establishing adolescent self-control means the efforts or endeavors undertaken by a teacher attain a goal in the process of building the ability of the individual adolescent to inhibit or prevent an impulse from appearing in the form of behavior that violates or contradicts moral standards. In building self-control teenagers in school, of course, a teacher must first have a good self-control and strong, so it can be used as a mirror for them. Based on the above description, there are two issues that will be discussed, namely: 1) How the role of Islamic Religious Education Teacher in building self-control teenagers in school, 2) What efforts can be done Islamic Teachers in building self-control teenagers in school. From the discussion can be concluded: 1) Islamic education teachers have a very important and strategic role in building self-control teenagers in school. PAI Teachers have to act as mentors, advisors, models or models and evaluators in building self-control teenagers 2) The efforts made by PAI teachers in building self-control teenagers in schools, among others through the following activities: a) Educate by giving exemplary, b) Educate by implementing a policy of supervision and counseling together, c) Educate by doing habituation, d) Educate by fostering the discipline of learners.
