The research was backgrounded by still low level of the learning motivation of students. The self-concept and parental support suspectted to affect the learning motivation of students. This research aims to describe : (1) the self-concepts, (2) parental support, (3) learning motivation of students, (4) the contribution of the self-concept toward the learning motivation of students, (5) the parental support contributions toward the learning motivation of students, and (6) the contribution of self-concept and parental support together against to the learning motivation of students. This study used a descriptive correlational quantitative method. The population of this research was students of SMA Negeri 8 Padang in class XI and XII which totaled 464 people. The number of samples are 215 people, selected by proportional stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used is the scale. Results validity and reliability of the instrument self-concept, parental support, and learning motivation of student stated that valid and reliable research instruments. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, simple regression, and multiple regression. The findings showed that: (1) the average description of self-concepts are in positive category, (2) an average description of parental support are in high category, (3) description of the learning motivation of students are in high category, (4) there is contribution of self-concept toward the learning motivation of students by 24.2%, (5) there is contribution of parental support toward the learning motivation of students by 18.8%, and (6) there are contributions of self-concept and parental support together toward the learning motivation of students amounted to 30.7%. Implications of the research results can be used as input to create a program of guidance and counseling services.

Contribution of academic self-concept and parental social support to learning motivation. This research is motivated by the low student motivation. Academic self-concept and parental social support are thought to have an effect on student motivation. This study aims to describe: (1) academic self-concept, (2) parental social support, (3) student learning motivation, (4) Contribution of academic self-concept to student learning motivation, (5) contribution of parental social support to student learning motivation , and (6) the contribution of academic self-concept and parents' social support together on learning motivation. This research uses a descriptive correlational quantitative method. The study population was students of class X and XI at SMKN 6 Padang, totaling 983 students, a sample of 284 students, who were selected by using cluster random sampling technique. The results of this study indicate that academic self-concept and parental social support together have a significant effect on learning motivation at SMKN 6 Padang by 64.5%. The implications of the results of this study can be used as a needs analysis in making Guidance and Counseling service programs at SMKN 6 Padang.

Background: HIV / AIDS is an infectious disease that is very dangerous and deadly. So that the self-concept of HIV / AIDS patients sees themselves negatively and causes stress.Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between self-concept and stress in PLWHA.Methods: The design of this research is correlation analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study was all HIV / AIDS patients who were in Posyansus at RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan. The sampling technique was purposive sampling technique and obtained 39 patients. The data collection tool used a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, for the self-concept questionnaire as many as 15 statements with a value of r = 0.903 with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.914 and stress using the DASS 42 questionnaire consisting of 42 statements with a value of r = 0.916 with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.948 . The test used for data analysis was the Chi-Square test with a p-value 0.05.Results: The results showed that the majority of self-concept was positive (92.2%) and the majority of stress was mild (51.3%) and the p-value = 0.029 0.05.Conclusion: In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between self-concept and stress in PLWHA.

The last few years have been the most difficult due to Covid-19, a disease that attacks and is transmitted through the human respiratory tract, sweeping the world. As a result, a number of public facilities were closed including schools so that the distance learning model was applied. The condition of the Covid-19 pandemic has made it possible to decrease student learning motivation which is the key to student learning success. Thus, it is important to study the factors that affect student learning motivation. This study aims to describe student learning motivation in terms of self-concept support, parental support, subject teachers, guidance and counseling teachers and smartphone facility factors. This type of research is descriptive using quantative methods. The population of this study were students of MTsN 2 Pesisir Selatan, totaling 711 students, with a sample of 256 students who were taken using a proportional stratified random sampling technique. The results of the study found that in general the learning motivation of MTsN 2 Pesisir Selatan students during the Covid-19 pandemic was in the moderate category, which means that most students lost their motivation to learn.

Underlying this present study was the importance of increasing the learning motivation of students who were expelled from previous schools. Self-concept and parental support were considered as the factors affecting learning motivation of the students who were expelled from previous schools. The aimed of this study was to reveal the contribution of self-concept and parental support towards the learning motivation of the students who were expelled from their previous schools. This study used a descriptive correlation-quantitative method. The population of the study were the 11th and 12th grade students in Sungai Penuh City, which numbered 2666 in total. The samples of the study were 62 students, taken by purposive sampling technique, namely students who were expelled from the previous schools. The instrument used was a Likert scale. The research findings showed that self-concept and parental support respectively and simultaneously had a significant contribution to the learning motivation of the students who were expelled from their previous school.

The low student achievement motivation is something that must be considered. Parents attention became one of the factors that can influence student achievement motivation. The purpose of this study to describe the contribution of parent attention to student’s achievement motivation in SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Padang. This research uses regression analysis. In the research took the sample of 233 students by using purposive sampling technique. It was used instrument "Wira Solina Parents Attention Scale" with reliability value is 0.888, and "Achievement Motivation Scale" with reliability value is 0.885. The results of research showed that: (1) Parents attention (Mother) in the high category; (2) Parents attention (Father) in the medium category; (3) student achievement motivation in the medium category; (4) the contribution of parents attention (mother) to the achievement motivation is 14.4%; (5) the contribution of the parents attention (father) to the achievement motivation is 12.9%; and (6) the contribution of parents attention (Mother and Father) to the achievement motivation are 15.6%. The results of research showed that parents’ attention (mother and father) need to improved student achievement motivation, so it can be recommended by counselor teacher to give guidance and counseling services in the school and involved their parents to improve student achievement motivation.

This research is aimed describ the learning motivation and self-concept of students who truant. This study used a descriptive quantitative method. The research conducted by the students of SMAN 5 Padangsidimpuan in the period of 2015/2016 with the total of the population was 420 students. Amount of research sample was 36 students and had been chosen by using purposive sampling technique. An instrument employed in this study was a Likert-scaled questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using percentage technique and the relationship between the two variables was analyzed by using nonparametric statistic, that is Spearman’s Coefficient of Rank Correlation. Results of this research are just like the following: 1) participants’ level of achievement on self-concept of students who truant is about 69,8%, 2) participants’ level of achievement on learning motivation of students who truant is about 69,2%, and 3) correlation coefficient of self-concept and learning motivation of students who truant is about 0,581. Therefore, it can be concluded that students who truancy have very low self-concept and learning motivation, and there is a significant relationship between self-concept and learning motivation. The implication in guidance counseling services is to create a service program which can increase self-concept and be learning motivation of students who truant

This study aims to analyze school well-being, emotional intelligence and student engagement in learning. The research was conducted using descriptive quantitative methods. The study population was 768 students of SMP Negeri 1 Padang and the research sample consisted of 201 students who were taken using random sampling technique. The instruments that used were arranged based on the constructs of the three variables, namely school well-being, emotional intelligence and student engagement in learning that had met the validity and reliability requirements. The research data were analyzed using simple regression and multiple regression. The findings of the study show that: (1) in average, student engagement in learning is in the high category, (2) school well-being and emotional intelligence are also in the high category, (3) the contribution of school well-being to student engagement in learning by 48.2%, (4) the contribution of emotional intelligence to student engagement in learning by 57%, and (5) the contribution of school well-being and emotional intelligence together to student engagement in learning by 62.1%. The implications of the research results can be used as a basis in the preparation of guidance and counseling service programs.

This research was motivated by the low learning habits of students in school. The concept of academic self and locus of control are factors that are thought to influence learning habits. This study aims to illustrate the contribution of academic self-concept and locus of control to the learning habits of students in school. This research uses descriptive quantitative methods. Samples in this study 162 students selected using proportional random sampling techniques The instruments used in this study were likert scales on variables of academic self-concept and learning habits, on locus of control variables using internal-external inventory Rotters locus of control (I-E) scales. The findings of this study show that: (1) the average academic self-concept is in a moderate category, (2) locus of control is also in the high category, (3) learners' learning habits are categorized well, (4) academic self-concept contributes to learning habits by 36.3%, (5) Locus of control contributes to learning habits by 10.6%, and (6) academic self-concept and locus of control together contribute 36.4% to learners' learning habits. The study findings show that: (1) on average, academic self-concept is in the high category, (2) locus of control in the internal category, (3) learners' learning habits in the good category, (4) academic self-concept contributes to learning habits, (5) locus of control does not contribute to learning habits, and (6) academic self-concept contributes to learners' learning habits, and internal locus of control does not contribute to learning habits because it already leads to locus of external control. The implications of the research results can be used as an analysis of the needs in guidance and counseling services at SMA Negeri 13 Padang.

This study aims to determine the emotional intelligence of female students who wear the full face veil. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The sampling technique was carried out with a total sampling of 38 students who wore the veil from several universities in Indonesia. The research instrument uses a Likert-shaped Emotional Intelligence Scale owned by Dika Sahputra. Questionnaires are distributed online through the Google Forms application from November 2019 to January 2020. The results showed that in general the emotional intelligence of students who wore the full face veil was in the high category. These results can be used as a basis for making programs for guidance and counseling services in tertiary institutions, as well as being the basis for policy making for university leaders and the government towards female students and women who use the full face veil

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the number of students from non-intact families lacking self-confidence, thus causing him to be less able to see himself positively. The purpose of this study is to see the difference in self-concept of students from intact families and families not intact. This research is a quantitative type of research with a comparative descriptive method. The population in this study were all students of SMP 25 Padang in the 2018/2019 academic year, totaling 744 students. The total sample of 260 students (150 students from intact families and 110 students from non-intact families) was selected using the Stratified Random Sampling technique. The research instrument used was a Likert scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed by percentage formula technique and formula t test with the help of SPSS for Windows 16. 0. The results revealed that (1) self-concept of students from intact families were in the high category (2) self-concept of students from non-intact families in the category quite high, and (3) there is a significant difference between the self-concept of students from intact families and non-intact families with a significant level of 0,000. Based on the results of the study it was suggested to counselors to be able to provide guidance and counseling services, information services, individual counseling services, group guidance services and group counseling services to students from non-intact families, in order to help students realize positive self-concepts.
