This research is motivated by the phenomenon of female students who give a negative assessment of their body shape. The impact of the student is not being able to accept the situation that is in him. This study aims to examine the significant relationship between body image and self-acceptance of female students. This study uses quantitative methods with descriptive and correlation types. The total sample of 242 students was selected using a purpose stratified random sampling technique. The research instrument used was body image inventory and inventory of female student self-acceptance. Data were analyzed by Pearson Product Moment technique. The results revealed that there was a significant relationship between body image and self-acceptance of female students with a correlation coefficient of -0.469 which was at a significance level of 0,000. This can be interpreted that the more positive the body image, the higher the level of self-acceptance, and vice versa, the more negative the body image, the lower the level of self-acceptance. With the findings of these studies, counselors can provide guidance and counseling services such as information services, individual counseling services, group guidance services, and group counseling services specifically related to body image and self-acceptance.

Welding work which results in conjunctivitis is highly related to occupational health and safety science. Based on Outpatient Visits in all Hospitals in Riau Islands Province in 2019, 1767 outpatient visits were found with Conjunctivitis as well as other visiting disorders. Conjunctivitis in welding workers can occur due to factors such as the length of time a worker is exposed to welding light. The duration of exposure can cause an unsafe situation on the body especially on the eyes, which can cause photoelectric conjunctivitis. So the researchers wanted to find a long association with exposure to welding rays with the incidence of photoelectric conjunctivitis. This research method was observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach conducted at PT. Bintang Inti Persada Shipyard Batam City. The sampling technique is total sampling with a population of 48 workers in 2019 and obtained the results of 48 workers determined by inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the study were analyzed by frequency distribution in cross-tabulation then tested by Chi-square. The results of this study found workers who were exposed to welding light less than 4 hours a day and did not experience conjunctivitis as many as 16 (69.5%) workers, then in workers who were exposed to welding light less than 4 hours a day and experienced conjunctivitis as much as 7 ( 30.5%) workers. Whereas workers who were exposed to welding rays more than or equal to 4 hours a day and did not experience conjunctivitis were 6 (24%) workers, then workers who were exposed to welding rays more than or equal to 4 hours a day and experienced conjunctivitis as many as 19 (76 %) workers. From the analysis results obtained p = 0.002 with a significance level (α) ≤ 5% (0.05). So it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the length of exposure to welding rays with the occurrence of conjunctivitis. Conclusions: Based on this study it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the length of exposure to welding rays with the incidence of photoelectric conjunctivitis at PT. Bintang Inti Persada Shipyard in 2019

Background: Obesity can lead to various health problems including psychosocial problems. Obesity also relates to body image which may affect psychosocial health. Objective: To examine the relationship between obesity, body image, and perceived stress among college students in Yogyakarta Province.Method: This study is a cross-sectional design in 150 college students (75 boys and 75 girls) at Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Technology Yogyakarta. Perceived stress was measured using 10 items of the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), body image was evaluated using 16 items of the Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ-16) and obesity was estimated using the percentage of body fat calculated from anthropometric measurements. Chi-square test, Spearman correlation analysis, and odds ratio were used to test the hypotheses. Results: There was significant correlation between obesity and body image in male (r= 0.32, p<0,01) and female students (r= 0.23, p<0,05). Obese male students were 7 times likely to have negative body image than non-obese male students. While no significant relationship was found between obesity and perceived stress,  non-obese students had almost two times likely to perceive stress. Similarly, body image was not significantly related to perceived stress in male and female students, however, it was likely that students with negative body image had about 1,5 times to feel stress than those with positive body image. Conclusion: Obesity was significantly associated with body image among male and female college students in Yogyakarta Province. However, no significant relationship was found between obesity and perceived stress as well as between body image and perceived stress among the students.

With reference to Pakistan, it has been observed that young female students are reluctant to take part in sports because of social pressures that affect their health in the long run. This research was conducted to examine the effect of self-esteem and body image on sports participation of female athletes mainly with two objectives i.e. to quantify the relationship between self-esteem and body image of sports participation of females and to quantify the impact of self-esteem and body image as motivators for sports participation of females. The purpose of selecting this topic was that both self-esteem and body image can play a major role to motivate females participate in sports. By applying the simple random sampling, a total of 200 female students were selected from four different universities to participate in the study.  These female students belonged to the physical education department of different universities of Lahore, Pakistan. Adapted questionnaires of Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (1965) and Offer Scale of Body-image (1972) were used to get the opinion of the participants. Results indicated a positively significant relationship between self-esteem and sports participation of female students as the values of the correlation were 0.317. In case of body image, positive significant relationship was observed between body image and sports participation as the value of correlation was 0.442. The research concluded that female students having high level of self-esteem and perfect body image, were more enthusiastic to participate in sports. The findings will help the physical trainers, instructors and teachers to find out the causes from the females who have low self-esteem.

It is widely believed that body image issues affect the emotional and psychological well-being of adolescents to a great extent. In the face of deeply entrenched normative beauty standards, teenagers’ struggles with body image issues can be extremely damaging. This study assessed the impact of an interactive online workshop involving the creation and sharing of ‘self-portraits’ on the body image of urban Indian female teenagers, aged 13 to 16. Data were gathered in the form of photographs of the participants’ artworks, their comments about each other’s artworks, as well as responses to a short open-ended questionnaire. This study revealed that the workshop was helpful in encouraging the participants to acknowledge their sense of isolation in dealing with body image issues. Furthermore, they greatly benefitted from a platform that gave them the opportunity to express their feelings and understand that they were not alone in their struggles. This empowered them to move towards self-acceptance and a desire to redefine unrealistic beauty standards. Ultimately, this study validated the value of the workshop in helping teenagers deal with their body image issues through creative means. In the future, regular sessions should be held to address teenagers’ body image issues through creative means and provide them with support in facing the pressures of prevalent beauty standards. As parents could inadvertently be contributing to their children’s body image issues, this study also proposed efforts to educate parents on the promotion of body positivity in their children.

The Draw-A-Person (DAP) test has been the center of a long-lasting debate regarding its validity. This study investigated the DAP indices of height, width (size), and inclusion/omission of details and their relation to body image as measured by a self-report scale (Gray’s body image scale) and manifested by the diet behaviors and body mass index of 55 healthy female students. Although the drawings of the diet group were smaller, there was no significant relationship between figure size and diet behaviors. However, body image as measured by a self-report scale did result in significant differences between groups. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between the size of the figure drawn and body image as measured by a self-report scale (larger figures correlated with better body image). No significant results were found for the omission/inclusion indices of the DAP. These results are discussed in light of previous findings regarding the DAP.
