The article touches upon a relevant topic of national identity preservation in unrecognized states. The authors examine two polar approaches to defining the essence of unrecognized states and formulate their position. The main factors in the formation and preservation of national identity are identified and include family, the education system, and mass media. The influence of each factor is determined by the policy implemented by the state represented by its authorized bodies. Accounting for the effect of said factors, a range of problems hindering the development of national identity in youth living in unrecognized states is determined. The results of the conducted study allow concluding that the main problem uniting all unrecognized states regardless of their location lies in poor social and economic development. This, in turn, does not contribute to strengthening the position of the native language, traditions, and customs as the key elements of national and cultural identity.

The article examines the state and scale of attracted direct investment (equity) in Transcarpathia and Ukraine as a whole. Research of the direct investment market is relevant, because they are the basis for social and economic development of the country and its regions. The purpose of the article is to study the scale of attracted direct investment (equity) in the regions of Ukraine and the distribution of direct investment by type of economic activity in the Transcarpathian region, to investigate their impact on the development of the Transcarpathian region. Increasing the volume and improving the efficiency of attracted direct investment are becoming the main factors of economic development. For a comprehensive study of direct investment in Transcarpathia should take into account the sectors of the economy to which these investments are directed, and the dynamics of changes in direct investment in 2017-2019. Among all attracted direct investments in the economy of the country and regions, in particular the Transcarpathian region, it is necessary to single out those investments that are involved in important for the region types of economy. The article examines how significant are the attracted direct investments in the industrial sector of the Transcarpathian region, investments in which reach more than 80% of the total number of direct investments for each of the studied years. This is a significant indicator and shows the fact that industry is a key economic activity in the Transcarpathian region. Taking into account the specifics of the Transcarpathian region, it would be advisable to increase the volume of direct investment in the recreational sector of the region. Given that every year, during 2017-2019, the share of direct investment in the Transcarpathian region and in Ukraine as a whole was growing, we can understand how important this area is in the future for the economic development of the region. Given that Transcarpathia is a border area, we can focus on cooperation with countries bordering the region to increase the amount of direct investment in the region's economy. The article substantiates the popularity of event tourism in the world in general and individual countries in particular. The need to study the demand for event tourism and the impact of multiculturalism as an important factor in its development is emphasized. It was found that its rapid development is due to a combination of ethnonational and ethnocultural features of specific areas, the participation of travellers in contemplating the cultural identity of a particular area, the richness of the program, entertainment, brightness, festive atmosphere. It is shown that in Ukraine and its regions there are real opportunities for active development of event tourism on the basis of ethnonational and ethnocultural features of its territory, as it is multinational and, consequently, multicultural. It is determined that the problems of studying the influence of ethnonational and ethnocultural features of individual territories on the development of tourism within them and social and economic development in general are complex. The relationship between multiculturalism and the development of event tourism is proved taking into account the ethnonational features of the regions of Ukraine. An example is given that demonstrates the current situation of event tourism development in the Odessa region on the basis of multiculturalism.

Around the Millennium we experienced the worldwide development and the growing importance of the role of higher education played in the social and economic development. A few years later, however, a crisis appeared in the situation of higher education (Kadocsa, 2002). The Hungarian higher education system faces the perspective of serious changes in its fundamental principals – such as its main activities and the economical ways which are used to finance these activities – even if only parts of the new educational scheme come into effect. Considering this fundamental activity aspect of the issue, there are new challenges which make necessary to rethink the role and aim of higher education and to define the new tasks needed in connection with education, research and other services. Hungarian Education needs to be renewed and improved to avoid a completebreak away; therefore, future priorities and tasks in order to fulfill these priorities need to be defined (Vincze and Harsányi, 2011). The new conception seems to be based on restrictions of the budget as it is experienced recently: a new structure available for a smaller part of society with a restricted budget has been under development. However, not even a battle, let alone a war can be won without money, horses and arms. The recent financial restrictions as well as the parts of the Széll Kálmán plan concerning education prove that serious amounts of governmental funds is taken away from education. The international improvement tendencies contradict to basically all of these Hungarian priorities. All in all, no reform or change – no matter how much wanted – can be achieved without appropriate funds.
