Penyakit diabetes melitus tipe 2 (DMT2) memerlukan pengontrolan untuk meminimalisir komplikasi melalui penerapan self-managementyang baik. Efektifitas penerapan self-managementdipengaruhi banyak faktor salah satunya dukungan keluarga. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and is able to spread rapidly in humans. Preventive behavior is important for every individual to maintain their health during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support (family, friends, health workers), perceptions of the response to COVID-19, and exposure to social media for COVID-19 prevention behavior. This cross-sectional study was conducted in the Jabodetabek area in May 2020 with a voluntary sampling technique. The participants were 424 respondents. The proportion of respondents with good COVID-19 prevention behavior was 45.2%. The results of the multivariate analysis showed family support (OR = 2.736; 95% CI = 1.654 - 4.517), peer support (OR = 2.035; 95% CI = 1.205 - 3,436), support from health professionals (OR = 1.729; 95% CI = 1.023 - 2,923); and sources of information regarding COVID-19 (OR = 1,692; 95% CI = 1,036 - 2,764) had a significant relationship with COVID-19 prevention behavior (P <0.05). It can be concluded that family support has dominant influence on COVID-19 prevention behavior in Jabodetabek community. For this reason, social support from the smallest scale (family) and reliable sources of information related to COVID-19 are needed so that community can implement COVID-19 prevention behavior properly in daily life. Hasil analisis multivariat menunjukkan dukungan keluarga (OR= 2,736; CI 95%= 1,654 - 4,517), dukungan teman (OR=2,035; CI 95%= 1,205 - 3,436), dukungan tenaga kesehatan (OR=1,729; CI 95%= 1,023 - 2,923); dan sumber informasi mengenai COVID-19 (OR= 1,692; CI 95%= 1,036 - 2,764) memiliki hubungan yang signifikan terhadap perilaku pencegahan COVID-19 (P<0,05).

Purpose: Social support has been identified as a determinant of physical activity (PA), but research has been primarily cross-sectional, with mixed findings for different Hispanic subgroups and limited longitudinal research with Hispanics. The purpose of this study is to assess the longitudinal associations of social support with PA in Hispanics on the Texas-Mexico Border. Design and sample: We used 2 time points of data collected from Hispanic adults in the Cameron County Hispanic Cohort (N = 588). Measures: We collected social support for PA and self-reported leisure-time PA. Analysis: We used cross-lagged panel models to assess the association between friend support, family support, family punishment (criticizing or complaining) and PA over time. Results: Although social support overall was low for PA, fully adjusted cross-lagged panel models indicated that time 1 friend support was associated with time 2 PA (adjusted rate ratio = 1.02, 95% confidence interval = 1.00 -1.04), though family support was not associated with time 2 PA. In males, time 1 friend support was inversely associated with time 2 family punishment. Conclusion: As expected, the directionality of the relation appears to be from social support to PA. Friend support appears to be predictive of PA in Hispanics, whereas family support is not. This should be considered in intervention development, particularly because familismo (commitment and mutual obligation to family) is considered to be a strong value in these communities.

Abstract There is a growing recognition that social support can potentially exert consistent or opposing effects in influencing health behaviours. The present paper presents a cross-sectional study, including 2,064 adults from Italy, Spain and Greece, who were participants in a multi-centre randomised controlled trial (C4H study), aiming to examine whether social support is correlated with adherence to a healthy Mediterranean diet and physical activity. Social support data were available for 1,572 participants. The majority of the sample reported emotional support availability (84·5 %), financial support availability (72·6 %) and having one or more close friends (78·2 %). Mediterranean diet adherence was significantly associated with emotional support (P = 0·009) and social network support (P = 0·021). No statistically significant associations were found between participant physical activity and the social support aspects studied. In conclusion, emotional and social network support may be associated with increased adherence to the Mediterranean diet. However, further research is needed to evaluate the role of social support in adherence to healthy Mediterranean diet.

Abstract The family is a key element of social support in the treatment of people who experience problems resulting from the use of alcohol and other drugs. This article aimed to understand the meanings of individuals under treatment due to the problematic use of alcohol and other drugs in relation to family participation. Six semi-structured interviews were carried out with people who adhered or not to the treatment proposed by an institution similar to a therapeutic community, analyzed later by analysis of thematic content. It was possible to observe (a) the low family involvement during the treatment, (b) the stigmatization and the individualization of the problematic use of alcohol and other drugs, and (c) the care focused on the figure of women. Guidance, listening and support needs for family members need to be properly examined during treatment to promote adherence.
