Abstract In recent years, rural e-commerce has been actively improving, but the contradiction between talent demand and supply has become increasingly prominent. This article combines the four dimensions of personal characteristics, professional attitude, family background and external environment to conduct empirical research on willingness to engage in rural e-commerce among e-commerce major students. The results show that the willingness to engage in rural e-commerce is generally low, which influences internship experience, academic planning, salary expectations, career perception, family attitudes, school guidance and public opinion.

In the previous research, it was proved that there were so many factors like students’ personal characteristics, family background, learning habits, previous academic background, college environment etc. which influence directly or indirectly the performance of college students in their university examination. The number of such factors has been identified by studying the previous work carried out by different researchers in different geographical areas and boundaries of the world. In many researches, when the opinions of the students and teaching faculties has been taken for similar factors to know the importance of these factors, the significant differences was found in their opinion for some factors. This paper investigates and compares the faculties’ assumptions with the students’ perceptions for various influencing factors. The comparison is done on the basis of their ranking of mean values of the factors allocated by students and faculties independently as per the importance of factors and one way ANOVA is used to check the significance of differences in their opinion. The result shows that there are similarities in the opinions of both, faculties and students, for most of the factors. But for some factors the significant differences in their opinion is also observed. The result of this research can be used for enhancing the performance of students by improving the influencing factors rank-wise. Top ranked factors may be given higher priority. Also this study will provide a platform for continuing the debate on the importance of various influencing factors for engineering students.

From an original sample of 170 inmates including 77 currently married, 71 single, and 22 divorced men, a group of 39 single inmates were matched with 39 married inmates in terms of age. Similarly all 22 of the divorced inmates were age-matched with a similar number of married and single inmates. These inmates were compared on a 15-trait personality test and 32 other personal variables. Only between the currently married and single groups were there a sufficient number of significant differences. The currently married inmates were less deviant on four dimensions of the personality test. There were also significant differences on only 4 of the 32 personal characteristics. The currently married inmates appeared to be better adjusted than the single inmates.

SummaryThis article deals with the role of bargaining power in shaping workers’ willingness to accept fixed-term jobs. It is assumed that workers prefer permanent contracts but may be willing to compromise on job security under certain conditions. To what extent is the willingness to accept fixed-term contracts influenced by personal characteristics and contextual factors that shape individuals’ bargaining power vis-à-vis employers? In a factorial survey implemented within the German panel study “Labour Market and Social Security” (PASS) approx. 3,700 respondents evaluated more than 18,000 short descriptions (vignettes) of hypothetical job offers with an experimental variation of job characteristics, including contract type. Results show that better labor market integration and economic resources of the respondents reduce the willingness to accept insecure jobs. The effect of a better bargaining position also shows up in the higher level of financial compensation required for fixed-term contracts.Moreover, some variation by family background and gender has been found.

<p>This study aimed to find the impact of personal selling on the purchasing behavior for youth in buying clothes. To achieve the objectives of the study, hypotheses were formulated and tested on a sample of the target community made up of 289 young men and women. The questionnaire design (32) was divided into five dimensions, four dimensions based on the personal characteristics of salespersons and their display of goods, characteristics of clothing stores, promotion done by salespersons in the sale of clothing, and the fifth focused on youth’s clothes purchasing behavior. The results of the study showed that 76.7% of males and 99.1% of females prefer to purchase from clothing retail stores. The sampling showed that salespersons in retail stores are honest in dealing with their customers but do not have the ability to negotiate with them. They neither have the required sales skill nor play a big role in stimulating sales, and they do not grant discounts to customers. The study recommended the importance of training and qualification for salespersons in personal selling to help them deal truthfully with customers and develop the ability to negotiate. Salespersons should be granted the authority to give discounts to customers.</p>

This study empirically analyses the determinants of Singapore’s university graduates’ employment decision between self-employment and salaried-employment. The binary probit model is used to estimate the effect of three main groups of variables on the employment decision. The thee main groups of variables are the personal characteristics, experience and education, and family background of the graduate. A mailed questionaire survey was carried out on 7300 university graduates in Singapore. A final number of 2486 (34.1%) usable questionaire was obtained. The findings of this study suggest that the personal characteristics and the education and experience of the graduates are significant determinants of the employment decision. However, the family background of the individual was found to be insignificant.

We exploit a unique data set, combining rich experimental data with high-quality administrative data, to study dropout from the college track in Norway, and why boys are more likely to drop out. The paper provides three main findings. First, we show that family background and personal characteristics contribute to explain dropout. Second, we show that the gender difference in dropout rates appears both when the adolescents select into the college track and after they have started. Third, we show that different processes guide the choices of the boys and the girls of whether to drop out from the college track.

IntroductionThe epidemic of non-communicable diseases including cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes is attributable in large part to unhealthy eating and physical inactivity. In the fall of 2016, the Québec government launched its first-ever Government Health Prevention Policy (Politique gouvernementale de prévention en santé (PGPS)) to influence factors that lead to improved health status and quality of life as well as reduced social inequalities in health in the population of Québec. NutriQuébec is a web-based prospective open cohort study whose primary aim is to provide essential data for the evaluation of the PGPS on the Québec population’s eating and other lifestyle behaviours over time.Methods and analysisOver a first phase of 3 years, NutriQuébec will enrol 20 000 adults living in the province of Québec in Canada through a multimedia campaign designed to reach different segments of the population, including subgroups with lower socioeconomic status. Participants will be invited to complete on a web platform nine core questionnaires on a yearly basis. Questionnaires will assess several dimensions related to lifestyle, including eating and physical activity behaviours, as well as a large number of personal characteristics and global health status. Temporal trends in eating and lifestyle behaviours will be analysed in relation to the implementation of the PGPS to provide essential data for its evaluation at a population level. Data analyses will use sociodemographic weights to adjust responses of participants to achieve, so far as is possible, representativeness of the adult Québec population.Ethics and disseminationUniversité Laval Research Ethics Board approved the NutriQuébec project. Data analysis, presentations in conferences and publication of manuscripts are scheduled to start in 2020.Trial registration numberNCT04140071.

Introduction Families increasingly employ foreign domestic workers (FDWs) to care for older loved ones. Caregiver burden reflects FDWs’ difficulty adapting to work demands. We test hypothesized associations between burden and six personal characteristics: children, marriage, education, Chinese proficiency, eldercare experience, and non-eldercare experience. Method In total, 299 Indonesian FDWs in Taiwan completed the Zarit Burden Interview. Exploratory factor analysis identified the dimensions of burden. Multiple and multinomial regressions related the variables to overall burden, burden dimensions, and burden severity. Results Four dimensions were found: personal strain, role strain, dependency, and guilt. Children were negatively associated with burden, role strain, dependency, and guilt. Chinese proficiency was negatively associated with severity and guilt. Eldercare experience was positively associated with severity and personal strain. Marriage was non-monotonically related to severity. Conclusion Caregivers whose earnings benefit their children may be more likely to thrive in Taiwan. Language training may boost caregiver performance and host family satisfaction.

One of the hottest and most popular methods in applied Machine Learning is Ensemble methods.Ensemble combines predictions from different models to generate a final prediction with better performance than any other single model. The research focused on the implementation of Ensemble method for predicting student academic performance based on their personal characteristics, family background, infrastructural environment in the college and external environment, etc...Our study uses RandomForestClassifier, Logistic Regression, and ExtraTreesClassifier as the Base Learners and AdaBoost Classifier as the Meta Learner. This result helps in predicting the accuracy of students’ academic performance and also in identifying the poor performers, so that early measures prior to final semester examination can be deployed

Extant literatures suggest that personal characteristics of entrepreneurs have a large impact on a business performance. The Resource Based View, regards the characteristics of the entrepreneur as a unique resource for the company that will become a competitive advantage. So far, personal characteristics and entrepreneurial demographic factors are more associated with entrepreneurial intentions, this study will analyze the role of demographic factors, namely educational background, family, experience, and motivation on a business performance, while also examining the role of entrepreneurial orientation, namely innovation, proactivity, and risk taking in mediating these effects. The research sample consisted of owners/managers from 160 business units in Malang area (Malang City, Batu, and Malang Regency), while the data analysis technique used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that demographic factors influence business performance and entrepreneurial orientation, so educational background, family background, business experience, and motivation are determinants of a business performance while enhancing entrepreneurial orientation. Entrepreneurial orientation acts as a mediator of demographic factors affecting business performance.
