At present, one of the priority directions in the higher education system is the fostering of patriotism among the younger generation of their homeland. It is the emergence and formation of patriotic feelings that sets new goals for teachers of educational institutions both on a regional and national scale. Among the many tasks of patriotic education, one can single out the main ones that require implementation in the framework of the interaction of information and analytical structures between students and government bodies through the introduction of various legislative acts. Having determined the goals and objectives, it is easy to build a certain algorithm of actions, structure or stages of activities necessary to form the civic position of the individual. However, at present, there are problems of various levels in the educational process of the formation of patriotic values of youth. Patriotism is also an indispensable condition for the formation of personality, an important component of the modern life of society. Without ideals and role models, without a sense of pride and dignity, love for their country, any society will inevitably come to moral decline and self-destruction. Only joint efforts of the family, the teaching staff and the state in matters of upbringing the younger generation will be able to ensure the full development of the individual with a clear civic position.

The process of education and formation of the individual at the present stage of development of society must be considered in the totality of all social processes that are inextricably linked in their mutual existence. The unwillingness or inability of the subjects of social relations to see in the individual the absolute goal of any social interaction activates the initial contradiction between freedom and necessity, which manifests itself externally in a conflict between individuals in a social conflict. It is overcome by a commitment to moral duty and respect for social norms. The secret of orientation to this kind of relationship is quite simple: the modern educational process is a phenomenon of social culture, which can be represented as a process of cultural education or a process of personal inculturation. In modern society, a positive stereotype of school life was formed: the teacher corresponded to the image of the most respected person – for his knowledge, wisdom, kindness and other personal qualities. This was facilitated both by society as a whole (first of all, by state propaganda, in which the teacher was given a dominant role), and by specific teaching staff. People had a clear idea of the purpose of their life and how to achieve it. Moreover, these methods were not reflected by the negative of their achievement on others. The paper analyzes the influence of mass media, cinema, pop music on the state of upbringing of the younger generation, reveals the consequences of the impact of modern media resources on the formation of behavior and self-consciousness of the younger generation in the modern world.

The problem of self-development of a student related to the transformation of the educational process in the post- neoclassical science is highlighted. This problem is considered in the context of a synergetic approach with the actualization of the needs and opportunities for self-organization of the applicant’s personality as a holistic characteristic of a human. It is noted that the pedagogical process of an educational institution of innovative type should be aimed at developing the abilities of the applicant, their ability to meet the challenges of the information society and self-realization in the changing conditions of the modern world. It is stated that self-development of an applicant within the synergetic paradigm of education requires a reorientation of the educational process from traditional conservative to innovative creative, in which the acquisition of vital competencies is carried out in interaction (communication) with other subjects and taking into account external (physical) and internal (mental) human activity. It is substantiated that the key aspects of the self-development of the student should be focused on the formation of their optimal developmental lifestyle. It is about the ability to self-determination, personal growth, self-regulation, existence, self-expression, self-realization. In the projections of the synergetic paradigm, the individual as a complex, open, nonlinear system appears with all the potential opportunities for self-development, which can be realized under certain organizational and pedagogical conditions. It is stated that despite the fact that the applicant – the future specialist controls their own development, the teacher of higher education should exercise general management of educational activities and is fully responsible for the quality of training of the applicant. This is inherent in any level of education. The new roles of the modern teacher (“moderator”, “coach”, “tutor”, “speaker”, “medium”, etc.) set adequate requirements for these roles. Not only the updated knowledge, but also the ways of obtaining it and the possibilities of its application become valuable for the student at various stages and levels. Key aspects of self-development: the ability to self-determination, personal growth, self-regulation, existence, self-expression, self-realization will contribute to the formation of the individual’s personality, open to new knowledge and values, able to realize their own life purpose.

Methods and forms of the educational process, which ensure the formation of professional and value orientations of future technical specialists are researched and theoretically grounded in the artticle. According to the classification by sources of knowledge, the following teaching methods are identified: verbal methods; visual methods; practical methods. The group of methods based on the word includes methods of storytelling, lectures and discussions, as well as methods of using educational and special scientific literature. The use of these methods should be combined with methods of education that are similar in nature: verbal, ethical narration, debate, ethical conversation, etc. Professional and value orientations of future professionals are one of the most important components of the personality structure, which show the attitude to the values of a profession and find expression in the interests, needs, views, assessments, motives of social and professional activities. The university forms in students not only basic professional knowledge, but also clear guidelines for life, teaches to separate true values from conventional ones, to perceive and evaluate complex phenomena and processes of the modern world. As during the student years there are the development of value orientations of the individual, the accumulation of knowledge, professional experience, awareness of their abilities, capabilities, there is a value of self-determination and self-improvement. Extracurricular work is proved to perform a leading function in the educational aspect in the process of formation of professional and value orientations of students of technical universities, as most of the methods and forms, due to lack of study time, it is advisable to conduct after classess. The system of extracurricular work is considered as a set of educational influences that provide purposefulness, systematicity, consistency, combination of pedagogical guidance with the initiative and initiative of students. The basic principles of this system are the professional and pedagogical orientation of the educational process, the relationship and interdependence of teaching and educating students; the connection of the educational process of a higher educational institution with pedagogical practice.

Currently, the main activity of the University is to meet the needs of the individual in knowledge, knowledge acquires the status of an “independent value” that allows it to adapt and function successfully in the modern world. This requires proper personnel support, development and implementation of a targeted program for creating teaching staff, including modern forms of management of the development of professional competencies of teachers of higher education institutions. The aim of the research is to develop a procedural model for the development of professional competencies of a teacher at a multidisciplinary University. The experience of numerous practices and observations allowed me to say that the professional competence of a teacher is formed based on the directions of his activity, provided that knowledge is updated, the development of value-motivational orientations of the teacher’s personality and the activation of research activities. Under the professional competencies of a University teacher, I see an integrative system of values, personal qualities, professional orientations, motivational activity, abilities, and a set of knowledge aimed at achieving a high-quality result of a teacher’s multifunctional activities (educational, educational, methodical, tutoring, scientific, administrative, social, and managerial). Based on my theoretical research, I have constructed a procedural model for the development of professional competencies of a teacher at a multidisciplinary University. The model is developed taking into account the key clusters of professional competencies of the teacher in the context of the main activities of the formation of personnel policy and strategic development of the educational institution. Summarizing the results of the research, I came to the conclusion that the implementation of the competence model contributes to the implementation of the main goals of continuous professional development of a higher school teacher in the context of education management and the achievement of the final quality result of his activity — a professional, competitive, in-demand University graduate. In my opinion, the development of professional competencies of teachers is focused on the quality of students ‘ education, which is one of the most important indicators of not only the accreditation of an educational institution, but also its image.

Introduction. The COVID-19 pandemic may have hit the education industry the hardest, but the socio-psychological effects of quarantine are still poorly understood. A group of scientists from the Ukrainian SMC of practical psychology and social work of the NAES of Ukraine has conducted a study of the socio-psychological problems that have arisen for teaching staff of general secondary education establishments in the context of the pandemic. Purpose. The research was carried out during the implementation of the scientific topic «Overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in the activities of the psychological service of the educational system» on the order of the National Research Fund of Ukraine. Design\approach\methodology. The study was conducted by interviewing educators through Google forms. Most of the questions contained a 10-step scale. In processing the data, all respondents’ answers were grouped into 5 categories: "yes", "more likely to", "more likely not", "no", "don’t know/it’s hard to say". The survey was attended by 3,209 teaching staff from general secondary education institutions from all regions of Ukraine, 45% from urban areas, 55% from rural areas; among which 92% were women and 8% were men. Results. Among the results, researchers highlighted the difficulties and fears of educators caused by the pandemic. The fears and complexities of the profession were distributed as follows. 1. The fear of getting infected (infecting family members) is common to 78.2% of the surveyed. 40.9% of the interviewed felt this fear to the greatest extent. However, 9.3% found those fears irrelevant. 2. Problems associated with the use of ICT in educational activities (lack of competence) — 53.2%. Among those, 22.2% have major difficulties and 31% have minor difficulties. Only 15.7% consider themselves fully competent. 3. 73% of educators noted difficulties in involving children in distance learning. This was the main problem for 12.8% of respondents. 4. «It is difficult to adhere to all anti-epidemic requirements in an educational institution to protect students» — 69.5% stated that this is one of the most significant problems of professional activity. 5. Emotional exhaustion, loss of emotional balance, excessive fatigue. 58.7% said that the problem was significant, of which almost 18% said it was very significant. 6. 51.1% of respondents indicated that they were unable to communicate with students' parents regarding monitoring the quality of their students' knowledge. Of these, 8.7% rated it with the highest score. 7. Health related difficulties (consequential of COVID-19). 31.2% of educators consider this problem to be relevant, while 8.9% rated it as very relevant. 30.4% of those interviewed denied the existence of such a problem. Conclusions Taking into account the results of the study, the most relevant areas in the work of the psychologists in the educational system are the following: ● prevention among educators and students of the COVID-bullying; ● working with negative emotional states of participants in the educational process and increasing their stress tolerance; ● providing socio-educational assistance to children and families in difficult life situations, and forming positive life prospects. Keywords. COVID-19 pandemic; pedagogues; social-psychological problems; fear of getting infected; emotional exhaustion

The relevance of the chosen topic is determined by the importance of interaction between teachers and students in modern higher education, as well as the need to cover the psychological features of such interaction from the point of view of developing a qualitative assessment of their role and place in the educational process of a higher educational institution. The purpose of the study is to formulate psychological aspects of “teacher-student” communication within the educational space to identify methods of its regulation. The leading approach of the research is a combination of theoretical analysis of the main aspects of pedagogical interaction between teachers and students in an educational institution taking into account the main functions and tasks of each of the groups under consideration and structural synthesis of the features of this type of interaction based on psychological factors of communication on the scale of a higher educational institution. The research considers issues related to the psychological features of pedagogical interaction between teachers and students in modern higher education. Qualitative indicators of communicative relations of subjects of the educational process, in particular teachers and students, are determined. The key psychological features of pedagogical interaction in the “teacherstudent” system are highlighted, including the development of trust in the authority of the teacher, taking into account students' individual factors in the process of studying subjects within the programme, maintaining a positive psychological climate in subject-subject relations. The necessity of developing a qualitative assessment of the level of communication between teachers and students as an objective factor for further assessment of the overall level of their pedagogical interaction effectiveness and the psychological characteristics of each of the groups under consideration is emphasised. The results and conclusions of the research are of practical value both for modern applicants for higher education and for representatives of the teaching staff of modern higher educational institutions concerned with the problems of building high-quality communication among each other, taking into account the individual characteristics and qualities of each group

Academic Gymnasium was found in October 1784 at the University of Lviv. This is a state secondary educational institution of the humanitarian direction. The graduates-maturists had the opportunity to continue their studies at the university after its completion. The Academic Gymnasium was the oldest gymnasium with the Ukrainian language of instruction. The information concerning the gymnasium's organization's functioning and principles till 1848 was lost due to revolutionary events. We can find the data about the organization of the institution's functioning, the number of teachers and students, and their social origin from 1849. At the same time, this date coincides with the secondary school's reform in 1849 based on the «Organizational Essay of High Schools and Actual Schools of Austria» and the «Normative Plan of Education for Gymnasia», which functioned until 1910 with minor changes. Exactly these normative documents regulated the functioning of the gymnasium - the organization of the educational process, the language of teaching, the priority of disciplines, the number and load of teachers, the organization of extra-curricular activities of high school students. Since 1907, the gymnasium is reorganized into the Main Gymnasium due to the number of students' growth and moving into a newly built building on L. Sapieha street and the Branch in the premises of the Narodnyi dim (People's Hall). The educational process in the gymnasium was carried out based on ministerial plans. By the end of the 20th century, more than 60% of the educational time was spent on learning languages, and the natural and mathematical cycle reached 25%, which indicates the humanitarian direction of gymnasium preparation. The situation was changed by the curriculum for classical gymnasiums in 1909, according to which the disciplines of the natural-mathematical cycle were synchronized with the requirements of universities. The article's main thesis is that during the 1849-1914 years, the Tsissar-Royal Academic Gymnasium in Lviv developed into a leading secondary educational institution. Mostly Ukrainian Greek Catholics, natives from Halychyna, studied here. The headmasters of the gymnasium were experienced teachers, skilled administrators. During the second half of the 19th century - at the beginning of the 20th century, the gymnasium was headed by Franz Brugger (1848-1858), Ivan Piontkovskyi (1858-1868), Vasyl Ilnytskyi (1868-1892 ), Edvard Kharkevych (1892-1911) and Illia Kokorudz (1911-1927). The teaching staff was increasing quantitatively and qualitatively. Careful selection, education requirements, and teaching methods provided the gymnasium with qualified specialists and responsible officials. The institution's educational process was provided by about 23-25 teachers, 70% of whom were gymnasium professors. Teachers of gymnasium conducted classes on a high professional level with students and created original textbooks in their native language, literature, history, and geography. Many teachers of the gymnasium and later graduates became well-known socio-political figures, scientists, and artists. So, Academic Gymnasium in Lviv is a secondary educational institution of the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. It functioned following Austrian secondary school legislation. The Academic Gymnasium, being in the structure of the Lviv University, provided it with well-prepared entrants. Students received a profound knowledge of normative disciplines in the gymnasium and a good national and religious education. The heads of the educational institution were experienced teachers and organizers who took care of the proper provision of the educational institution with teaching staff. The educational and methodological literature was supported, developed, and implemented in the educational process, together with teachers and public figures. Teachers of the gymnasium constantly worked on self-education and were active socio-political leaders. Keywords: Academic Gymnasium, organization, Krajova Szkolna Rada (Region School Council), teachers, teaching process, students, educational legislation.

Violence and aggression has become common phenomena in modern world, they include almost all fields of social life. The reflection of problems the society copes with, is visible in the way of perceiving the educational values by pupils and their behaviour at school. The nature of the educational process organised by school is mainly the interactions among teachers and pupils and pupils themselves. They are not always the best. The anxiety among guidance counsellors and psychologists raises the fact that the cooperation rule and mutual help are replaced by the rule of dominance, extortion and force. The cases of ignoring the teacher's orders are more and more common, lack of respect towards the teaching staff, humiliating adults and vandalism. Pupils battle against teachers and peers too. The school hall is a kind of arena of undesirable behaviours. Therefore, the school as an institution in which children and young people spend 1/3 of their time during the day, should not only deal with teaching but take an active part in the implementation of activities in the field of broadly understood prevention and upbringing. Therefore there are challenges in front of the school aiming at stopping, limiting or even eliminating negative behaviours from children's and teenagers' lives.

In modern conditions of functioning of the higher education system, the goal of introducing distance learning is to organize a high-quality educational process “at a distance” using the latest information and communication tools and open access to educational resources. It is this form of training that can quickly adapt to the requirements of the information society and prepare the future specialist for the challenges of the digital environment. In combination with traditional forms, distance education in a higher educational institution can provide a wide range of educational services for both applicants and students to acquire the necessary skills for future professional activities, and for teachers to improve their skills. At the moment, the main problems in introducing high-quality free educational space is the lack of technical and financial support, the legislative basis of distance learning, and this is a leading factor in curbing the development of technology at the university. There are no qualified teachers specially prepared for working in remote mode. However, given the willingness of universities to train teachers to work remotely, the negative impact of this factor in the near future can be eliminated. Subject to the solution of the above problems, an effective distance learning will be created that will comprehensively reveal the student’s potential, taking into account both individual and universal needs.
