The concept of Immunity is mentioned as ‘Vyadhikshamatwa’ in Ayurveda. In Ayurveda numbers of medicinal herbs are described under immunity-enhancing drugs category. The concept of immunity enhancer is explained under the category of Rasayan chikitsa in Ayurveda. These herbs are used in various diseases, especially by modulating the immune system. These herbs are called as Rasayan Dravyas. Ayurveda medical science comprises the herbs which are Rasayana and also which are non-Rasayana in nature. In Samhitas entirely enriched with enormous data of Rasayana medicinal herbs acting as immune modulators. The data of available Samhitas and researches show that these Rasayana herbs have immense potential as immune modulators. Advanced researches have proven that drugs like Guduchi, Haritaki, Ashwagandha, Brahmi, Jyotishmati act as a good immune enhancer. Theses herbs are mentioned in Ayurveda as Rasayana drugs. Experimental studies also have proven the role of Rasayana drugs as antioxidant, adoptogenic and having anti-stress activities. These Rasayana drugs as having immunity enhancer protect the health of a healthy person and protects them from any type of diseased condition. Charakacharya had mentioned Rasayanchikitsa adhyay as the first addhya of their chikitsasthan considering his aim as ‘Swasthasya Swasthya Rakshanam’. This means to protect the health of a healthy person as in priority by using immunity enhancer drugs as Rasayanas. This review article empowers such reviewed data on Rasayan medicinal herbs as a promising future target for immunotherapy.

The crucial need for safe and healthy aquatic animals obligates researchers in aquaculture to investigate alternative and beneficial additives. Medicinal herbals and their extracts are compromised with diverse effects on the performances of aquatic animals. These compounds can affect growth performance and stimulate the immune system when used in fish diet. In addition, the use of medicinal herbs and their extracts can reduce oxidative stress induced by several stressors during fish culture. Correspondingly, aquatic animals could gain increased resistance against infectious pathogens and environmental stressors. Nevertheless, the exact mode of action where these additives can affect aquatic animals’ performances is still not well documented. Understanding the mechanistic role of herbal supplements and their derivatives is a vital tool to develop further the strategies and application of these additives for feasible and sustainable aquaculture. Gene-related studies have clarified the detailed information on the herbal supplements’ mode of action when administered orally in aquafeed. Several review articles have presented the potential roles of medicinal herbs on the performances of aquatic animals. However, this review article discusses the outputs of studies conducted on aquatic animals fed dietary, medicinal herbs, focusing on the gene expression related to growth and immune performances. Furthermore, a particular focus is directed to the expected influence of herbal supplements on the reproduction of aquatic animals.

Children are more susceptible to various infections because of underdeveloped immune system as compared to adults. Strengthening the immune system is a natural way to help the body fight against the disease-causing pathogens and immunomodulators can play a major role in this context. Various Ayurveda classics and studies published in journals related to Ayurveda drugs for improving immunity are reviewed and analysed. In Ayurveda, the objective of immune enhancement is achieved through the use of the Amalakyadi Rasayana (an Immunomodulators), as it increases longevity of life, memory, intellect, luxture, complexion, voice, strength of the body functions, strength of all senses and provides the resistance to disease, improves glow and power. Analysis of classical references and various experimental studies show that Amalakyadi Rasayana posse immuno-modulatory, Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatory, Antimicrobial, Anthelmintic activity. Present paper is a review to update knowledge on pharmacological properties, therapeutic actions and possible mode of action of the selected formulation, Amalakyadi rasayana from Yogaratnakara (Rasayanadhikara/17) to enhance the immunity in children. Rasayana is an important part of Ayurvedic therapeutics used to improve the quality of life by strengthening the tissue quality and by reducing the age-related tissue degeneration. This study reveals that Amalakyadi Rasayana have potential to improve or strengthen the immune system in children and thereby can lower down the morbidity rate in children.

COVID-19 has specific characteristics that distinguish this disease from many other infections. We suggest that the pathogenesis of severe forms of COVID-19 can be associated with acidosis. This review article discusses several mechanisms potentially linking the damaging effects of COVID-19 with acidosis and shows the existence of a vicious cycle between the development of hypoxia and acidosis in COVID-19 patients. At the early stages of the disease, inflammation, difficulty in gas exchange in the lungs and thrombosis collectively contribute to the onset of acidosis. In accordance with the Verigo-Bohr effect, a decrease in blood pH leads to a decrease in oxygen saturation, which contributes to the exacerbation of acidosis and results in a deterioration of the patient’s condition. A decrease in pH can also cause conformational changes in the S-protein of the virus and thus lead to a decrease in the affinity and avidity of protective antibodies. Hypoxia and acidosis lead to dysregulation of the immune system and multidirectional pro- and anti-inflammatory reactions, resulting in the development of a “cytokine storm”. In this review, we highlight the potential importance of supporting normal blood pH as an approach to COVID-19 therapy.

Ayurveda provide a basic way of living to the people and mentioned the different “Charyas” to be done by the individuals in day to day life as well as this ancient science garlanded us with the knowledge and code of conducts to conduct different type of studies like experimental studies, survey studies etc. In this sequence, Janapadodhwansa, a chapter describes in Vimana Sthana by Acharya Charaka is considered as the chapter of epidemiological study. Where he explained the whole concept on handling the situation of pandemic state. Now, a days It is evident to notify the Pandemic state of China and different countries due to the virus knows as corona virus, which is responsible and causes pressure on societies and health care system. This is the first pandemic condition of 21st century which requires internationally unified cogent and collective actions by the individuals, communities, commercial bodies etc. Due to the novelty of the virus, there is no treatment known and no vaccination is available. Only social distancing and other preventive measures are tolls used to deal this emergency. And hence, this condition can be correlated with Janapadodhwansa. And Rasayana is one of them, which provide the strength against the viral condition and improve the immune response towards this pandemic disease. This article aims to provide information about role of Rasayana dravyas (Gudhuchi, Amalaki and Haridra) which can be in cooperated in day to day life and act as immune modulators.

COVID-19 which has been declared as pandemic by WHO has harsh impact globally. No treatment protocol has been mentioned yet; main public advice mainly focuses on frequently hand hygiene and social distancing. This concept is mentioned by Acharya Charaka in Janapadodhwansa. Of Rasayana is based upon the immunomodulation. It boosts up the immunity and help to keep the body and mind in the best of its health. Rasayandravya has been first line of defence for Janapadodhwansa (Epidemic Condition). Dhatusarata, balanced state of dosha, health of srotas and agni must be maintained with proper diet and regimen to maintain immunity. This article aims to provide information about the role of Rasayanadravyas (Gudhuchi, Amalaki and Haridra) which can be in cooperated in day to day life and act as immune modulators. Bala is leading factor of all dhatus and its capacity to perform physical work. Physical strength depends on kaphadosha and high-quality dhatus. As ojas is essence of all dhatus, bala ultimately depends on ojas. Modern immunity matches with AyurvedicVyadhiksamata. Capacity to prevents the spread of diseases in the body and capacity of body of blocking the diseases in its primary stage is called as immunity. Ayurveda are significantly helpful in strengthening the immune system and thereby offers a natural way for the prevention of pandemic diseases.

AbstractBackgroundNeuropathic pain is a challenging condition often refractory to existing therapies. An increasing number of studies have indicated that the immune system plays a crucial role in the mediation of neuropathic pain. Exploration of the various functions of individual cytokines in neuropathic pain will provide greater insight into the mechanisms of neuropathic pain and suggest potential opportunities to expand the repertoire of treatment options.MethodsA literature review was performed to assess the role of pro-inflammatory and antiinflammatory cytokines in the development of neuropathic pain. Both direct and indirect therapeutic approaches that target various cytokines for pain were reviewed. The current understanding based on preclinical and clinical studies is summarized. Results and conclusionsIn both human and animal studies, neuropathic pain has been associated with a pro-inflammatory state. Analgesic therapies involving direct manipulation of various cytokines and indirect methods to alter the balance of the immune system have been explored, although there have been few large-scale clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of immune modulators in the treatment of neuropathic pain. TNF-α is perhaps the widely studied pro-inflammatory cytokine in the context of neuropathic pain, but other pro-inflammatory (IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-17) and anti-inflammatory (IL-4, IL-10, TGF-β) signaling molecules are garnering increased interest. With better appreciation and understanding of the interaction between the immune system and neuropathic pain, novel therapies may be developed to target this condition.
