Gentamicin can induce damage to the kidney because of the accumulation of epithelial cells in the cortex. This accumulation can cause an increase in Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), which in turn can trigger an increase in free radicals which causes a decrease in kidney function, which can be seen with Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and sCr (serum creatinine) parameters. Garlic (Allium sativum L.) contains several bioactive compounds, including alliin, allisin, ajoene, and allil cysteine. The content of allisin has activity as an antioxidant. This study used a nephrotoxic mouse modelling method with 100 mg/kgBW of gentamicin induction intraperitoneally, then BUN and sCr levels were checked 24 hours after the 10th day induction. This study aimed to determine the effect of garlic ethanol extract in preventing the decline of renal function in rats induced by gentamicin with a parameter of BUN and sCr. The animal test were divided into 5 treatment groups, normal control group, negative controls, and three treatment groups at a dose of 50, 120, and 300 mg/kgBW for 10 days of concurrent treatment between extracts with gentamicin. The results of the study showed that garlic ethanol extract with a dose of  50, 120, 300 mg/kgBW was able to prevent a decrease  in kidney function due to the administration of gentamicin significantly when compared with negative controls (p 0,05).

This study aims to analyze the administration of mangosteen peel ethanol extract at different doses can reduce levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and leukotriene B4 (LTB4) serum in male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strains exposed to electric cigarette smoke. Electric cigarette induces mitochondrial ROS production and triggers oxidative stress. Antioxidants are needed by the body if there are many free radicals, for example mangosteen peel. This laboratory experimental study uses a randomized post test only control group design. Thirty male white rats were divided into 5 groups randomly (KK, KR, P1, P2, P3). KK given 0.5% Na-CMC, KR given smoke and 0.5% Na-CMC, P1, P2, P3 given smoke and mangosteen peel ethanol extract 100, 200, 300 mg / kg weight. Data were tested for normality and homogeneity tests. Data distribution was found not normal. Data were tested by Kruskal-Wallis Test and Mann-Whitney. Kruskal-Wallis Test results showed significant differences in MDA and LTB4 levels in each experimental group (KS, KR, P1, P2 and P3), p <0.05. Mann-Whitney test results showed a significant difference in the MDA levels of the KR against P3 and in the LTB4 level of the KR against P2 (p <0.05). The conclusion of the study was the administration of mangosteen peel ethanol extract can reduce MDA and LTB4 levels serum in male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strains exposed to electric cigarette smoke.

The Porphyromonasgingivalis is one of the dominant bacteria that causes chronic periodontitis. These bacteria can penetrate the gingiva and cause tissue damage directly or indirectly with the induction of inflammation. The growth of Porphyromonasgingivalis can be inhibited by administrating the active compounds from plants that have an antibacterial effect such as Calotropisgigantea leaves. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial potential of Bidurileaves (Calotropisgigantea) extract against the Porphyromonasgingivalis ATCC. In this study the Biduri leaves were extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. The antibacterial potential test of 70% ethanol extract of Biduri leaves (with a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, and 35%) against thePorphyromonasgingivalis was carried out using dilution method with 4 times repetition on Tryptone Soy Agar (TSA) media. The results of the study were analyzed using the One Way ANOVA test showing there were significant differences in the number of Porphyromonasgingivalis ATCC 33277 colonies due to administration of 70% ethanol extract of Bidurileaves (Calotropisgigantea) with p values <0,05. The test results were continued with the Post Hoc Tamhane test to determine the significant difference of the treatment groups. Based on the results of the study it could be concluded that 70% ethanol extract of Biduri leaves (Calotropisgigantea) had antibacterial potential against Porphyromonasgingivalis ATCC 33277 starting from the smallest concentration of 5% to the highest concentration of 35%.

Pharmacological therapy in fever patients is to provide Antipyretic drugs, can be done by using a doctor's prescription or by self-treatment. The condition that occurs in the community is self-medication conducted in the category of irrational treatment therapy because it is not in accordance with the condition of the patient. So, it is necessary to do education using Active Mothers Ways of Learning Method to the housewives about rational fever self-treatment. The sample in this study were 40 housewives in the Flamboyant Bawah, divided into two major groups namely the control and treatment groups. Each group was given a pretest and posttest in a questionnaire of fever management. In the treatment group, fever drug education given before posttest by used CBIA method. The results showed an increase in knowledge of housewives from before education and after education was seen from the acquisition of grades. The mean pretest value in the control group was 74.38 and the treatment group was 69.69. Statistical test results show there was no significant difference in the mean value between the control group and the treatment group. The mean posttest value in the control group was 77.81 and the treatment group was 87.50. There was a significant difference between the mean value of the control group and treatment group. From the results of the statistical analysis showed that the level of knowledge of the treatment group given education by used the CBIA method produced a higher value than the control group that was not given education.

Purpose: To establish a male Wistar rat model of nanobacteria (NB)-induced kidney stones. Methods: Sixty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group (NC group) given caudal vein injection of saline + saline gavage, and NB-induced stone group (NBS group) given caudal vein injection of NB + saline gavage. Results: Compared with NC, serum creatinine, blood uric acid, urea nitrogen and urinary calcium levels in NBS group increased between weeks 3 and 8 (p < 0.05). Kidney index (kidney weight/body weight ratio) in the NBS group was higher than that in NC group from weeks 8-10. At week 8, urine pH and serum phosphorus in NBS group were higher than those in NC group (p < 0.05). Between weeks 6 and 7, serum calcium in NBS group was higher than that in NC group (p < 0.05). Calcium crystals in NBS rats were distributed mostly in the distal and proximal convoluted tubules. However, no such crystals were observed in NC rats. Similarly, no such pathological changes were seen in the renal tissue of NC group. Calculus analysis showed that stone formation was higher in NBS group than in NC group (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in micro-CT between the two groups (p ˃ 0.05). Conclusion: The successful establishment of the Wistar rat kidney stone model using NB cultured from urine of upper urinary tract stone patient is potentially useful for further etiological studies on kidney stone formation.

Anaerobic physical exercise does not only improve body fitness, but it also increases cognitive functions. The increase of cognitive functions is mediated by the increase of Brain Derived Neurothropic Factor (BDNF) level. Several studies revealed that anaerobic physical exercise can increase the BDNF level inhippocampal tissues. However, it is still questionable whether or notthe frequency of exercise influences the production of BDNF inhippocampal tissues. This study was to find out the BDNF mean level inhippocampal tissue of Wistarrats which were treated with anaerobic physical exercises conducted in different frequencies. This study used post test only control groupdesign. The research subject was 28 rats of Rattusnorvegicus strain wistar divided into 4 groups; 1 control group and 3 treatment groups (one-time, three-time, and five times a week treatment). The anaerobic physical exercise used animal treadmill running in the speed of 35m/min for 20 minutes at four-minute intervals. The mean levels of BDNF were increased in all treatment groups compared with control group (151.588 vs 57.059). The highest mean level of hippocampal tissue BDNF was found in the treatment group of three times a week (177.701). There was a significant difference in BDNF mean levels of Wistar rat brain tissues among the treatment groups.
