Abstract: The inadequate, slow production of breast milk makes mothers unable to provide enough breast milk to their babies. Besides the prolactin hormone, the lactation process also depends on oxytocin hormone which is secreted from the posterior hypophysis as a reaction on nipple suckling. Rolling massage is one of the relaxation therapy which aims to stimulate the central nerve on posterior and anterior hypophysis, so the breast milk production can be increased, particularly in the postpartum mothers, and comfort and relaxation after childbirth can be provided. This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of breast milk production in the postpartum mothers with massage rolling (back) in Sri Sukeni Community Empowerment Agency, Sleman. The methodology in this research is Quasi-Experimental Design with two-group posttest design. The control group is postpartum mothers without massage rolling and the treatment group is postpartum mother treated with the massage rolling. Data analysis used the independent t-test and the paired sample t-test. The research shows the result that in samples of t-test, there is a meaningful difference (p = 0.023<) in breast milk production (weight of baby) between control group (2,687.07 ± 160.155) and treatment group (2,846.13 ± 198.968). This difference is shown in the average weight of baby in treatment group which is higher compared with the control group. Massage rolling affects breast milk production in Sri Sukeni Community Empowerment Agency, Sleman in 2017.

This article aims to provide another perspective on the concept of community empowerment by utilizing local potential with cultural value combined with a tourism-based empowerment pattern. Herbal medicine as a hereditary heritage in Rejowinangun village is optimized for marketing in the concept of a tourist village, thereby increasing its economic value in a modern society. To achieve this goal, this study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to capture the context of changes experienced by the community to see the significance of the empowerment model. The results of this study indicate that the process of developing the production of herbal medicine as a processed product of herbal plants is produced through the use of land owned by the community. The expertise of the Rejowinangun village community in concocting traditional herbal medicine is produced from hereditary inheritance. As a form of re-actualization in the marketing system, modern methods were introduced, from the concept of a tourist village to marketing herbal medicine in the form of instant packaging. Modernization steps in all aspects as part of empowerment have an impact on increasing the economic value of these products, so that they have an impact on improving the community in the economic, social, cultural, environmental and health fields. The integration between the concept of cultural preservation and modern management in community development that takes place in the village of Rejowinangun has proven to be effective and efficient, so that this method can be a new alternative in group-based community development that still preserves local traditions and keeps up with the times.

Banana blossom is a food that has many benefits and is easily obtained by the community because it can be easily planted in the yard of the house. Banana blossom processing in the community can be done by boiling and steaming. Banana blossom also contains protein, minerals (especially phosphorus, calcium and iron) and a number of vitamins A, B1 and C. There are many reasons for mothers do not give exclusive breastfeeding to their babies. However, what is most often found is insufficient breast milk. There are several factors that influence milk production, one of which is the food factor. One of the efforts to increase breastmilk production that will be carried out is by giving Kepok Banana blossom Simplicia. This study aims to determine the effect of Kepok banana blossom simplicia on increasing breast milk production in postpartum mothers at Nurhayati and Nining Pelawati Midwifery Pratama Clinic, Lubuk Pakam sub district in 2019. This type of research was a Quasi Experiment with a Non Equivalent Control Group design and purposive sampling. Samples were normal postpartum mothers from day 7 to day 21 with parity of 1-2 and were willing to take part in the study through informed consent. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon Rank test and the Mann-Whitney test, it was obtained a p-value of 0.000 (α <0.05), which means that there was a significant effect on the simplicia of Kepok banana blossom on increasing milk production in postpartum mothers and it is expected that it can be used as an effort to increase milk production in postpartum mothers and to meet the needs of babies without having formula milk.

The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Xiong-gui-tiao-xue-yin, a traditional Japanese herbal medicine, in stimulating lactation in the postpartum period. We enrolled 82 women who had a normal delivery in Osaka Medical College Hospital, and randomly assigned them to the following two groups: a group of 41 women who received Xiong-gui-tiao-xue-yin at a dose of 6.0 g/day (Group X), and a group of 41 women who received ergometrine (methylergometrine maleate) at a dose of 0.375 mg/day (Group E). Volume of lactation was determined daily until Day 6 postpartum. Plasma prolactin and oxytocin concentration were measured at Days 1 and 6 postpartum. The results showed that volume of lactation was significantly higher in Group X than in Group E at Days 4 ( p = 0.042), 5 ( p = 0.038), and 6 ( p = 0.046). Significant differences between Groups X and E were noted in plasma prolactin concentration at Days 1 (157.9 ± 78.2 ng/ml and 129.1 ± 64.8 ng/ml ; p = 0.037) and 6 (167.5 ± 95.4 ng/ml and 117.1 ± 53.6 ng/ml ; p = 0.0042) postpartum. On the other hand, at Day 1, oxytocin concentration was significantly higher in Group E than in Group X ( p = 0.0024). No adverse effects were observed in this study. The results of our study demonstrate the beneficial effects of Xiong-gui-tiao-xue-yin on lactation, with increase in prolactin level without increase in oxytocin level in the postpartum period. Therefore, Xiong-gui-tiao-xue-yin can be expected to improve lactation in women in the postpartum period. Further detailed bio-pharmacological studies and clinical trials to investigate the properties of this drug are warranted.
