Art is a wonderful way for students to express their creativity and engage in their learning in a new and interesting way. In today’s modern world, the integration of digital technologies has the capability to enhance lessons and provide unique opportunities for students to experience the curriculum. Through the surveying of my fellow teacher candidates, family, friends and an e-mail interview with a subject matter expert, I asked specific questions about the potential positive and negative effects of the integration of digital technology in the elementary art curriculum. In addition, I explored five added sources to supplement my research. As a result of this investigation, I discovered that a balance of new and old technologies is fundamental to the art experience in the elementary art curriculum. It is imperative that technology is not the sole focus and that other traditional art mediums are included in the curriculum. This research project allowed for the exploration of the positive and negative impact of integrating digital technologies in the arts for my future teaching practice. Ultimately, the potential benefits of the integration of digital technologies far outweigh any of the negatives and the opportunities they present are endless.

There is a widespread use of digital technologies such as social media like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and mobile phones by adolescents. They are spending an average of 2-3 hours a day texting, gaming, and watching irrelevant videos. Due to this excessive use, it may lead to some health issues; it also helps to encourage the adolescents to improve their communication and knowledge. It thus follows that digital technology has both positive as well as negative effects on the young minds. However, there is no denying the fact that negative impact is much more vigorous than its positive repercussions. As far as the harmful effects of digital technology is concerned, social media and mobile devices may lead to psychological and physical issues. On the positive side, it empowers learning and communication. The need of the hour is to help and nurture our young minds in a way that they learn to focus on the positivity of the digital technology so that they can use it to the optimum and get benefitted in the best possible manner.

In the modern world of education, the level of digital technology development plays a decisive role in the competitiveness of educational institutions. The transition to digital education is considered a key driving force for the development of any university. In recent years, pedagogical universities have made tangible progress in many areas of digital development. However, the introduction of digital technologies (DT) in the educational process reached its peak during the pandemic. This study aims to identify the distinctive features in the work of a teacher at a pedagogical university during the pandemic. The study revealed the following: the doubts of the teachers with no e-learning experience; didactically effective digital technologies in the educational process, the combined use of which ensures the synergistic effectiveness of e-learning; students’ attitude towards the quality of the e-learning process during the pandemic. Given the identified problems and positive aspects, the results of the study can be used to further develop a strategy for the digitalization of teacher education. The study proved that effective digitalization of the educational process is possible under the condition of cooperative and systematic work of all participants.

The number of universities using digital technologies is growing year by year. Digital technology in the modern world is not only a tool, but also a living environment that opens up new opportunities: learning at any convenient time, continuing education, etc. This article aims to describe the specificity of digital education, the current state of its implementation, the expected results and concerns in this respect. Having shown the core of the digital education and the state of its implementation in modern society, this type of education must be critically analyzed in terms of advantages and risks with reference to contemporary students and the effectiveness of the teaching – learning process, in which they participate. In the study pros and cons of digital learning are revealed. The current study presents information about advantages of using electronic educational resources in teaching a foreign language based on the experimental work which was done in Naberezhnye Chelny Institute of Kazan Federal University. The success of the experiment presented in this paper is demonstrated by comparing the results of the test group who were taught using electronic educational resources with the reference group who were taught in a common traditional way. The results of the questionnaire suggest that the majority of students believe they have acquired food knowledge using digital technology in education. The statistical analysis shows that the test group students had better achievements compared to the reference group since students from test group have the digital skills.

The article explores some methodological issues and the role of digital technologies in the humanities, education system, and public life. The relevance of the research topic is confirmed by the rapid development of digital resources and technologies in public life, including humanities and education. The positive role of digital technologies for the development of humanities and education is emphasized; they are characterized by interdisciplinarity and open up new possibilities for research. It is argued that the process of digitalization is a reflection of the new historical realities of social life, including science and education, a reflection of the new needs of society in the research environment. And materialistic understanding of the phenomena of social life as the most important method of research, comprehension, and evaluation of social processes is used as the main method of research. It is argued that digital technologies in the humanities and education have serious negative consequences. This manifests itself in a potential decrease in intellectual activity, analytical abilities, and physical development of a person. Digital technologies are capable of taking a person into another reality, disrupting the process of traditional socialization, live communication. Such processes have a negative impact on his personal development, which contradicts the criterion of justice and social progress, which are expressed in the comprehensive development of the individual. It is argued that even the most advanced digital technology cannot replace the moral and psychological moments of live teacher-student communication.

The modern world can be described as a sociotechnical system, the existence and development of which are determined by the successful interaction of technology and society. When introducing a technology, it is important to assess its potential sustainability. There are currently more than a hundred different sustainability assessment methods that allow for the sustainability of a technology to be predicted on the basis of a quantitative assessment of basic impact indicators. However, as the complexity of technology increases, there are hidden and latent factors inherent in technology that sooner or later affect the sustainability of technology and pose significant risks. Identifying these factors is particularly important for digital technologies, as they are the backbone of any other current technology. The aim of this article is to identify and explain the impact of a set of hidden and latent factors on the sustainability of digital technologies by using a system dynamics simulation and the possibilities offered by Bayesian networks. The results of this study are useful for technology sustainability researchers, technology authors, and investors.

Given the trends in the modern world, as well as the rapid growth of digitalization, it is safe to say that it will inevitably affect almost all areas of human life and activities. Dmitriev’s English dictionary defines the word readiness: «It is a state where everything is done to start doing something.» Accordingly, an assessment of the company’s readiness to integrate modern digital technologies will identify opportunities, risks and threats, strengths and weaknesses of the enterprise, as well as to formulate a list of initial measures that need to be implemented. Thus, there is an urgent need to find an answer to the following questions: «How (by, what criteria and indicators) to measure readiness?», «What are the approaches to readiness assessment?» The purpose of this article is to develop a model and algorithm to assess the company’s readiness to integrate modern digital technologies. Modelling techniques were used to achieve this goal, as well as to analyze and generalize information. As a result of the research, a model for assessing the company’s readiness to integrate modern digital technologies has been developed and tested, based on the quality management model presented in the ISO 9000 series standards. A particular example shows how to use it and what it ultimately allows you to see and evaluate.

The presented study addresses the problems of development of small and medium towns in Russia. Aim. The study aims to examine a town as a socio-economic environment where its residents exist and as the fundamental factor for the development of society.Tasks. The authors identify key problems in the development of small and medium Russian towns, which interferes with the historical appearance and has a negative impact on the living environment.Methods. Problems in the development of small and medium towns in Russia are examined using theoretical methods: systematic approach, statistical analysis, social and philosophical analysis.Results. The study identifies the main negative effects of the existing model of development of small and medium Russian towns, such as destruction of their historical and cultural appearance, distortion of the overall architectural motif, increased load on communications, and congestion of the transport infrastructure.Conclusions. At the current stage, efficient development of small and medium towns in Russia is impossible within the framework of the existing infill development. This chaotic process cannot be stopped without a new conceptual approach and changes in the legislative and normative framework of urban development. The only factor that determines the boundaries of the existing approach to urban development is the lack of physical space for new buildings in urban areas. The authors formulate proposals that would help to solve the problems of development of small and medium towns in Russia.

The increasingly stellar attraction of the digital technologies and the growing, though not universal, consensus of the need to build a sustainable future, are two powerful trends within society. The aim of this article is to offer an exploratory review of how the leading companies within the digital transformation market have addressed sustainable development. As such, the article’s originality and value lie in offering a review of current corporate thinking within that market. The study adopts an inductive, qualitative approach based on an examination of published company reports, and identifies six major sustainability themes being actively promoted and supported. The article concludes that the current sustainability objectives of the technology companies are driven as much by commercial reality as any altruistic motives, and that support and promotion of the circular economy may offer the best opportunity for digital technologies to meaningfully impact sustainable development.

AbstractThe 2011 National Nutrition Survey of Pakistan revealed that 51% of the country’s population was consuming less than 2,100 calories a day. In the backdrop of rising food insecurity, hunger, and malnutrition in Pakistan, this study aims to measure the effects of indirect taxation on health outcomes of children (<5 years). More specifically, the impact of the incidence of General Sales Tax (GST) in the province of Punjab has been estimated on a child’s height and weight. The proponents of the uniform GST argue that the tax would not affect children because most food items consumed by children are exempted from the GST. However, the opponents believe that households, especially those belonging to the lower-income group, would reallocate resources away from children in the face of higher GST. To study these effects, we utilized three different waves (2007–08, 2011 & 2014) of Multiple Indicators Cluster Surveys (MICS). The results show that the tax incidence, and not the GST rate, has a significantly negative impact on children’s height-for-age Z-score (HAZ). No effect was found on the weight-for-age-z-score (WAZ). These results are robust to different specifications and exhibit considerable heterogeneity across different income groups. These findings suggest that the exemption of certain food items for children from the GST may not eliminate the negative effects of this tax on a child’s health. Thus, our study raises concerns about the long term welfare consequences of GST.
