Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience due to actual and potential tissue damage. One of the non-pharmacological therapies to deal with pain is the back massage technique. The technique can reduce the intensity of pain in postoperative appendicitis patients so that the therapy can provide comfort for the patient. This study aims to explore the effect of back massage technique on reducing pain intensity in patients with postoperative appendicitis. This type of research is pre-experimental using a one-group pre-post design test. The research population included 13 patients postoperative appendicitis at Royal Prima Hospital Medan in 2018. The research samples were drawn by using the Accidental Sampling technique. The research was conducted on March 2018 at Royal Prima hospital Medan. The research data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Test with a significant value of α = 0.05. The patient experienced pain before back massage was provided and after the administration of back massage technique, patient experiencing mild pain was 60% and 40% experienced moderate pain. The results of bivariate analysis showed that p-value = 0.034. This showed that there was a difference between the intensity of pain before and after the back massage technique was performed in patients with postoperative appendicitis. From the results of the above research, it is suggested that the implementation of back massage techniques has an effect on the decrease in pain intensity in patients with postoperative appendicitis. This back massage technique can be applied at hospitals as a measure of pain management which is an independent action of the nurse to handle the patient's pain.

BACKGROUND: Reproductive health is an important issue and needs to get more attention, especially among adolescents because adolescents are the nation’s next generation so adolescents should have excellent reproductive health because adolescents will later marry and become parents, so the quality of life of adolescents must improve to better direction. AIM: This study aimed to determine the effect of celery therapy and abdominal stretching exercise on pain intensity in adolescents with dysmenorrhea in Soppeng District High School. METHODS: This research uses quasi-experimental. A sample of 30 was selected by consecutive sampling that met the inclusion criteria. Samples taken are non-randomized pre-posttest one-group design with accidental sampling method. Data collection using numeric rating scale measurement tools. Data were not normally distributed by analyzing the Wilcoxon test. RESULTS: The results showed that the characteristics of respondents for age were 14–15 years as many as 16 (53.3%). Based on grade level, the average respondent in class one also had details of 16 (53.3%). The average pain intensity before and after intervention, where the mean value + SD is 0.67 + 0.479–0.27 + 0.450 with p value (P = 0.001 <0.05) which means that there is a difference in the average pain intensity significant before and after therapeutic interventions were given. Celery therapy and abdominal stretching exercise need to be recommended to be used as therapy to treat primary dysmenorrhea in young women at SMAN 1 Watan Soppeng. CONCLUSION: Based on the results of research and hypotheses, it can be concluded that there are significant differences after therapy which means that the administration of celery therapy and abdominal stretching exercise 3 times before menstruation is more effective in reducing pain.

Pain is a natural process in labor. The response of pain is different between one and another it is influenced by factors depended in body’s resistance mechanism since labor process. The factors are age, gender, pain’s mean, attention, previous experience, coping style, family’s support, afraid, worried, personality, fatigue, culture and social. Acupressure is one of the best non-pharmacology techniques in easiest management of labor pain, cheapest, and can be done by all of people because needs only two hands in therapy implementation. The objective of this research is to identify the influence af acupressure therapy on hands to labor pain of active phase in period I. This research was queasy experiment with non-equivalent pretest-posttest design. The population of this research was inpartu woman at PMB. Ratri Restuni, S.ST Samarinda. The sampling technique used non random sampling technique; it was the sampling quota of 15 people in intervention group and 15 people in control group. Data collection was obtained by doing interview and giving acupressure. The research finding shows that there is significant differences between pain scale before and after intervention in intervention group with t-value = 11,117 and p-value 0,05, in average pain scale of intervention group before and after intervention is 68.7, it decreases to 4.37, control group is 6.80 and there is no decreasing; the average period of this is 13 minutes and then increasing again. Acupressure therapy has to be applied in giving inpartu care in period I of active phase to decrease labor pain. For next researchers, they are expected to do more research by taking other variables that can influence labor pain; which are coping, family support, and personality.

Birth pain can cause maternal discomfort such as fatigue, frustration, despair, and stress. The preliminary survey at PMB Ernita of Pekanbaru showed that there were 60% of the mothers that suffered moderate pain and 40% of them experienced severe pain. The intensity of labor pain can be reduced by giving a rose effleurage that can produce endorphin so that it stimulates a sense of relaxation. This pre-experimental research used a one group pre-test study post-test design carried out in March to June 2018. The population was primigravidae  mothers in the first stage of labor taken using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the average intensity of pain in parturient women before and after administration of rose effleurage was 6.00 and 4.60, respectively. The result of statistic test with Wilcoxon test on 95% confidence degree showed that there was the effect of rose effleurage stage on pain intensity in the active stage of labor (p value = 0.000). It is then suggested that rose effleurage can be applied as an alternative method which aims to reduce the intensity of labor pain at the time of active phase.

The trend of delivery by caesarean sectio (SC) in Indonesia increased by 10% from 7% in the 2007 IDHS to 17% in the 2017 IDHS. Pain is an inconvenience that is often experienced by women giving birth after caesarean sectio. Complementary pain management can be done with guided imagery therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving guided imagery therapy to changes in the intensity of pain in post-sectio caesarean delivery mothers at a maternity hospital in the city of Padang in 2021.This type of research is quasi-experimental with a one group pretest posttest design. The research population was post-sectio caesarean delivery mothers with a total sample of 30 people, sampling using purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using paired sample t-test. The results showed that the average maternal pain intensity before intervention was 6.90 and after guided imagery therapy the average pain intensity was 3.70 with a mean difference of 3.20. The results of statistical tests showed that there was an effect of giving guided imagery therapy to changes in the intensity of pain in postpartum mothers with caesarean sectio with a p value of 0.000 (p value <0.05). There is a significant effect between the pain intensity of post-cesarean delivery mothers before and after being given guided imagery therapy. It is hoped that this therapy can be implemented in the management of pain experienced by mothers after caesarean sectio.

World Health Organization (WHO) for almost 30 years the rate of births with caesarea section became 10% to 15% of the delivery process exist in developing countries. In Indonesia, the results of basic health research in 2013 showed births with a caesarean section of 15.3% of the sample of 20,591 surveyed from 33 provinces. Based on statistical data that researchers obtained from the Medical Record Room of the Sembiring General Hospital, the number of patients with sectio caesarea from January to September in 2019 totaled 1,600 patients. Nursing problems that often arise in post sectio caesarea cases are painful sensory and emotional experiences that arise due to actual tissue damage. The nurse's independent action to control the pain felt by the patient is to do pain management with non-pharmacological techniques, namely progressive relaxation. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of progressive relaxation on decreasing pain intensity in post sectio caesarea patients. This study used a quasi-experimental design method with a non equivalent control group design. The sampling technique was 32 respondents, 16 intervention groups and 16 control groups. This study used a T-Test. The results of this study indicate the P-value (0.839) > α (0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is no effectiveness of progressive relaxation on the decrease in pain intensity in post sectio caesarea patients in the hybrid room of Sembiring General Hospital. For further researchers to be able to have the same research the same but with different variables in order to get more varied and better results.

Sectio caesarea is a delivery by making an incision in uterus through the frontwall of the abdomen. Sectio caesarea actions cause pain due to surgery. She also had pain, fatigue and prolonged labor process can cause breast engorgement. Engorgement is a condition where the breasts become full due to static ASI lymphatic flow, increased congestion and vascularity, and can lead toaccumulation of intra-caudal pressure that will affect the segment of the breast so that the whole pressure increased breast. Non-pharmacological management used to overcome this problem is to use cabbage compresses. Cabbage leaves contain an amino acid that is believed to reduce the breast engorgement. This study aims to determine the effect of cabbage compress to decrease breast engorgement scale of post partum section caesarea. This study used a quasi-experimental research design with a one group pre-post test design. Sampling technique with consecutive sampling. Population in this study were post partum section caesarea with breast engorgement in Rumkit Bhakti Wira Tamtama from June to August 2017. The analysis using the Wilcoxon test. Results has difference in scale breast engorgement before and after cabbage compress on postpartum maternal section caesarea with p value 0,001 (<0,05). Conclusion there are significant cabbage compress to decrease postpartum sectio caesarea with breast engorgement after compresses cabbage. This intervention is recommended to increase the comfort of post partum sectio caesarea with breast engorgement.
