Background: Active-passive motion therapy and deep breathing techniques are non-pharmacological methods of pain management. This method can reduce pain intensity and without indication. This happens because it can control pain by minimizing sympathetic activity in the autonomic nervous system. Relaxation involves muscles and does not require exercise. Aims: To compare the active-passive motion therapy and which deep breath relaxation is more effective toward pain intensity of patients with post-section Caesarea surgery. Method: The research design was used quasi-experimental. The number of samples was 32 people. The sample of this study was undertaken by Accidental Sampling. this research was conducted at the Santo Vincentius Singkawang Hospital. Data analysis was using an independent paired t-test. Result: From the results of statistical calculations, the data obtained p = 0.041 (p = <0.05), thus H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means that the active-passive motion therapy is more effective in reducing pain intensity in patients with Post-sectio Caesarea surgery. Conclusion: The results of this study revealed that the active-passive motion therapy was very effective in reducing the intensity of post-operative pain Caesarea. This study recommended that the active-passive motion therapy can be used to reduce pain intensity in patients with sectio Caesarea surgery.

Sectio caesaria surgery can cause changes in the continuity of body tissues and the aftereffect of delivery of a caesarean section is that the patient will feel pain after 2 hours of operation to 3 days and the pain feels hot in the incision scar. Efforts to reduce pain intensity are using non-pharmacological pain management, namely distraction and relaxation techniques. This study used cross sectional approach by using description correlation design which conducted at Baiturrahim hospital Jambi city, sample were health personnel (Nurse and Midwife), the sampling technique used total sampling. The collecting of data used a questionnaire by using Chi-Square test. The findings indicated that from 21 respondents 13 (61.9%) respondents have sufficient knowledge of health personnel, 14 (71.4%) respondents have Positive attitude of health personnel, 20 (95.2%) respondents have good health personnel behavior in giving distraction and relaxation techniques to pain patients. From the result of chi square test indicated that score p-value 0.381 so that the null hypothesis is accepted, namely there is no correlation between knowledge of health personnel with the behavior of giving distraction and relaxation techniques in postoperative pain patients with sectio caesarea at Baiturrahim hospital. It is expected to Baiturrahim hospital in order to increase services in providing non-pharmacological techniques to reduce pain intensity in post-caesarean section patients

BACKGROUND: Dysmenorrhea is pain during the menstrual period caused by uterine muscle cramps. The Dysmenorrhea prevalence in Indonesia is categorized as high at 64.25%. The dysmenorrhea symptom could be very disruptive and even decrease women’s productivity. Related to this problem, abdominal stretching is one of the alternatives to reduce pain from dysmenorrhea. AIM: This research was aimed to find out the effect of abdominal stretching on the pain intensity of menstrual cramps. METHODS: It was a quasi-experimental research with a pre-test post-test control group design. The sample was 130 female adolescents that were taken by total sampling. The sample was divided into two groups, which were the intervention group and the control group. RESULTS: The research finding, with a 0.000 (p < 0.005) significance value was obtained by using the Wilcoxon test. CONCLUSION: It means abdominal stretching exercise is significantly effective to reduce pain intensity from menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) in female adolescents. It is suggested to implement abdominal stretching as nursing care for menstrual cramps.

Mothers who are facing the labor process will feel pain related to uterine contractions, various ways have done to reduce pain, namely by non-pharmacological techniques, including deep breathing relaxation, massage, changes in the mother's position so that labor can run safely and comfortably. This study aims to determine the effect of deep breath relaxation techniques on pain intensity in the active phase of labor. This research is a quasi-experimental design approach method pre test and post test. The sampling technique used accidental sampling as many as 28 mothers had birth in July - August BPM Y Karawang. The results of the data normality statistical test used the Shapiro-Wilk test. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test obtained signed rank p value 0.0000 <0.05. The conclusion are that there are an effect of deep breath relaxation techniques on decreasing the pain intensity of the active phase of labor. The suggestion of this study is that deep breath relaxation techniques can be recommended as a complementary tearpie and applied to relieve pain during labor, so that labor can run smoothly

The trend of delivery by caesarean sectio (SC) in Indonesia increased by 10% from 7% in the 2007 IDHS to 17% in the 2017 IDHS. Pain is an inconvenience that is often experienced by women giving birth after caesarean sectio. Complementary pain management can be done with guided imagery therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving guided imagery therapy to changes in the intensity of pain in post-sectio caesarean delivery mothers at a maternity hospital in the city of Padang in 2021.This type of research is quasi-experimental with a one group pretest posttest design. The research population was post-sectio caesarean delivery mothers with a total sample of 30 people, sampling using purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using paired sample t-test. The results showed that the average maternal pain intensity before intervention was 6.90 and after guided imagery therapy the average pain intensity was 3.70 with a mean difference of 3.20. The results of statistical tests showed that there was an effect of giving guided imagery therapy to changes in the intensity of pain in postpartum mothers with caesarean sectio with a p value of 0.000 (p value <0.05). There is a significant effect between the pain intensity of post-cesarean delivery mothers before and after being given guided imagery therapy. It is hoped that this therapy can be implemented in the management of pain experienced by mothers after caesarean sectio.

Background: There is evidence regarding beneficial use of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) on post Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS) incision pain. However, efficacy of different types of TENS following C section pain has not yet been explored adequately. Methods: 96 women who had recently undergone LSCS were included for the study. The subjects were in the age group of 20 to 40 years (25.84±3.96); having pain intensity 4 or more on Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS). They were divided into three groups by random allocation method; namely Group A: Acupuncture (Low/Motor) TENS, Group B: Conventional (High/Sensory) TENS and Group C: Control group. Group A and B received specific type of TENS twice a day for 15 minutes. Control group C did not receive any TENS intervention. All subjects received standard post-operative medications and physiotherapy. Pain intensity was recorded on NPRS pre and post intervention. Results: Both Acupuncture TENS and Conventional TENS significantly decreased post-operative pain intensity as compared to control group (p value <0.0001).Conclusions: Both, acupuncture and conventional TENS are equally effective in reducing post LSCS incision pain at a strong and non-painful intensity.

Aims and Objective. Pain is a common problem associated with postoperative orthopedic patients; the current study is aimed at evaluating music intervention as an alternative method to control pain. Methodology. The experimental design of the current study was comparative, descriptive, and quasi-experimental. 38 postoperative orthopedic patients were equipped with pocket-size MP3 players with prerecorded music tracks (instrumental and lyrical) in Hindi, English, and Urdu. After that, pre-post-pain scores were recorded with the help of designed brief patient logs. Ultimately, a satisfactory survey was completed at discharge. Major Findings. It was found that during the intervention of music, the pain was significantly reduced from 5.40 to 2.98. There was a slight relationship between listening time and pain relief. It was also found that the feedback was extremely positive and each patient suggested the use of music to others with 96.6% recommendation. Conclusion. From the current study, it was found that music intervention can be beneficial to postoperative patient pain control. Further, it is hoped that the findings of the current experimental work will lead to improvements in the care of postoperative patients.

Background: Pain during labor is one of the worst pains experienced by women. If the woman cannot adapt to it, it may lead to uncoordinated uterine contractions causing a long-complicated labor with the possibility of death of the mother and baby.Purpose: The aim of the study is to observe the ef-fect of massage treatment using frangipani aroma-therapy oil to reduce the childbirth pain intensity.Setting: Pembantu Dauh Puri Health Center Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. Participants: Pregnant women in labor. Research Design: A quasi-experimental research design was used with pretreatment and posttreat-ment groups and a control. The respondents were 70 pregnant women in labor in Pembantu Dauh Puri Health Center Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. Data were collected during scheduled observa-tion and were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney statistical test. Intervention: The participants in the treatment group were massaged with frangipani aromather-apy oil by rubbing and pressing the hand palms to the back region at thoracic vertebrae 10, 11, 12 and lumbar 1 levels. The women in the control group were massaged with virgin coconut oil in the same manner as that done to the treatment group.Main Outcome Measure: This study aimed to in-vestigate the potential of frangipani aromatherapy oil to be used as maternity care in helping pregnant women become more comfortable in the process of normal birthing, based on modified midwife examination form, which contain Numeric Rating Score (NRS), and interviews with the participants to measure the pain intensity.Result: Before the massage treatment, most of the respondents experienced severe pain. While receiv-ing massage without aromatherapy, respondents mostly still experienced severe pain. However, after a massage treatment using frangipani oil aroma-therapy, most respondents experienced reduced pain. There was a statistically significant effect of massage treatment using frangipani aromatherapy oil on the childbirth pain intensity (p < .001).Conclusion: In this study, massage treatment using frangipani oil aromatherapy decreased the childbirth pain intensity.

Background and Objective: The study of music therapy in labor is unknown. The main objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy to manage pain and anxiety during labor. Materials and Methods: A search strategy was used with PubMed/MEDLINE, LILACS, Cochrane, TRIPDATABASE, and Google Scholar. The selection criteria were based on randomized clinical trials; quasi-experimental research on pain intensity and anxiety during labor was evaluated. The primary outcomes were measured by the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). A meta-analysis of the fixed effects was performed using mean differences (MD). Twelve studies were included for the final analysis, six (778 women) of which were meta-analyzed. Results: Decreased VAS scores for pain intensity associated with music therapy were found in the latent (MD: −0.73; 95% CI −0.99; −0.48) and active (MD: −0.68; 95% CI −0.92; –0.44) phases of labor. VAS scores for anxiety decreased both in the latent (MD: −0.74; 95% CI −1.00; −0.48) and active (MD: −0.76; 95% CI −0.88; −0.64) phases. Conclusion: Music therapy seems to have beneficial effects on pain intensity and anxiety during labor, especially for women giving birth for the first time. However, the evidence is qualified as low.
