This research is an action research that investigates the implementation of self-discovery autonomous learning using self-discovery technique with self-prepared worksheet in extensive reading class. The study was conducted in the contexts of a classroom teaching and learning situation. Self-discovery learning is believed to be effective in helping the students to improve their reading skills because this technique forces student to be autonomous learner. The study used action research model by Kemmis and Taggart. However, the researcher does not use cyclic treatment in this study, instead its implemented in one big cycle in one semester. As it is needed to be implemented in the whole semester to get the real result. The autonomous learning using self-discovery technique with self-prepared worksheet in extensive reading class was able to improve the students’ achievement in extensive reading, it is indicated in the post test scores compared to the pre-test score. Nevertheless, there are positives and negative effects found during the acting and observing phase. The positive effects are the students become more active in class, the students can explore the text freely as they like, thus, lead to the students’ better communication. Whereas, the class becomes noisy since the students have to discuss in their group and the lecturer had more burdens in finding, selecting, choosing and providing the text for the class activities. Keywords: autonomous learning, self-prepared worksheet, extensive reading.

This paper presents and discusses a part of an action research conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Augmented Reality for English (AR4E) in vocabulary learning among Primary 2 pupils as indicated in the results of the pre-test, post-test and observation checklist. An action research was employed. However, this paper reports on the pre-test, post-test and observation checklist conducted in the observation, evaluation and reflection stages only. Purposive sampling was employed as the participants were of the same proficiency level in which it was carried out with 14 below average Primary 2 pupils in SKTEN. Two data collection instruments which were pre-test, post-test and observation checklist were analysed statistically and thematically. The pre-test and post-test were analysed using SPSS Version 25 and it showed a higher mean score in the post-test and this is supported by the findings obtained through the given themes of observation. The results reflected that the implementation of AR4E has shown a significant improvement in learner’s vocabulary learning. In addition, the findings have also raised the concern regarding the impact of AR4E in encouraging fun learning, collaborative learning and providing the learners with new language learning experience. Accordingly, the use of AR4E is recommended in vocabulary teaching and learning for English. Finally, the researcher suggests future research can be carried out taking into account differentiated learning tasks in AR4E, larger target users and different language skills to be integrated in AR4E.

The source of the data in this study is from the communication between teacher and students in teaching and learning process through e-learning. The instruments are used observation and test. The data observation is analyzed by using qualitative method and the data from the test is analyzed by using quantitative method. In the pre-test result, there are only 1 student who complete pre-test from the total 4 students who followed pre-test. The percentage is still under the predictive criteria, specifically ? 80% from the average score of students that is ? 65. Meanwhile, the post-test shown that all four students got exhaustive score with the percentage reached 50% and the score average reached 50. It means that X IPS-1 student’s improving speaking by using animation movie on e-Learning process at SMAKON is in good category. On the observation result of X IPS-1 students’ improving speaking on e-Learning process improves. Before the researcher implemented animation movie, the percentage only reached 25%, either student’s improving on e-Learning process or students’ activity during teaching and learning process.
