Backgrounds : In medicine faculty specially in oral health university of Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya, extracting is the most common cases in clinic. As we know geriatry patients needs this treats too. The newest reports explain that estrogenes affected production of collaagens. Collagens are needed for asselarate wound healing. Menopause process decrease production of estrogen, so it can be influance for collagens output product.Purpose : This experimental to discribe the connection between menopause with clinical wound  healing process after tooth extraction at the Poli Gigi Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya. Methodes : This experimental use wound healing scale use parameters Tumor (swelling), Rubor (hyperemia) and Dolor (pain) Results : In this study used 20 patients divided two groups, menopause and non menopause group. There was a significant difference between menopause group and non menopause group in the third day and the fifth day after tooth extracted. For geriatry patients need dental care, specially tooth extraction. The complication in this age is delayed wound healing. For woman cases has many degeneration problems, one of this is because oldery ages woman has fisiology prosess menopause periode. Menopause is a regeneration process makes ovarium stops producting ovum. It was effected for maturation ovum and distrubing production of collagens. Collagens have main factors for wound healing process. In this articles, writer tried to connected the relations delayed wound healing in woman that have been in menopause period in case extracted teeth. Conclusion : There is a significant different between wound healing menopause and non menopause. The menopause the process wound healing takes more longer than non menopause.

Background: Trauma occurring during tooth extraction can cause complications such as bleeding, infection, fracture and dry socket and constitutes an inflammatory response trigger. Pomegranate (Punica granatum Linn.) extract, which contains large amounts of punicallagin and ellagic acid, possesses various qualities, including; anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant. Pomegranate extract can inhibit proinflammatory cytokine production, while also suppressing inflammation response thereby accelerating wound healing. Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the effect of pomegranate extract application to the tooth extraction wounds of Cavia cobaya (C. cobaya) on the expression of fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) and transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) on the fourth day of the wound-healing process. Methods: This study used 12 C. cobaya, divided into two groups, namely; control and treatment. The subjects were anesthetized, before their lower left central incisor was extracted and the entire socket filled with CMC-Na 3% in members of the control group and pomegranate extract in those of the treatment group. The twelve C. cobaya were sacrificed on day 4, their lower jaw subsequently being removed and decalcified for approximately 30 days. The mandibula tissue was stained using a immunohistochemical technique. FGF-2 and TGF-β were used to evaluate the healing process in the extracted tooth socket. Differences in the expression of FGF-2 and TGF-β were evaluated statistically by means of a t-test. Results: This study indicated a significant difference between the control and the treatment groups (p<0.05). The treatment group members whose sockets were filled with pomegranate extract showed high FGF-2 and TGF-β expression. Conclusion: This study confirmed that the administration of pomegranate extract to post-extraction tooth wounds of C. cobaya increases the expression of FGF-2 and TGF-β on day 4, thereby accelerating the wound healing process.

Background: One of the common frequently performed procedures in dentistry is tooth extraction. After tooth extraction, a series of biological events occurs in the alveolar socket that ultimately results in healing of the socket. Binahong (Anredera cordifolia) is an herbaceous plant that contains active compounds that may accelerate the wound healing process. Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of 3% binahong leaf extract gel on the healing process of the postextraction wound. Methods: 3% binahong leaf extract gel was prepared with the composition of 1 g carbopol, 1 g hydroxypropilmethylcellulose (HPMC), 4 g glycerin, 3 g triethanolamine (TEA), 0.04 g Nipagin, 0.04 g Nipasol, 1.2 g binahong leaf extract and Aq ad 40 g. A total of 18 people were subjected to tooth extraction and were then divided into two groups, with nine people in the binahong group and nine in the control group. Following that, residual socket volume (RSV) was examined on days 3, 7 and 14 after the extraction in both the binahong and control groups. The RSV value was obtained by calculating the mesiodistal x bucolingual width x the depth probing and measured using a calliper and probe. Repeated analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Friedman test followed by Wilcoxon and dependent t-test (p<0.05) were used to analyse data. Results: Significant difference in the mean RSV between the control and binahong groups was observed on days 3, 7 and 14 post tooth extraction. The RSV value in the binahong group was lower when compared to the control group (p <0.05). Conclusion: 3% binahong leaf extract gel can accelerate the process of healing socket wounds.

Abstract: Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is still a health problem related to the extent amount of time in wound healing process hence increasing the treatment cost. Given any methods that are not sat-isfying, encourage the search of other methods that would increase the wound healing rate, in which hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is amongst them. The DFU patient that receives HBOT shows a significant increase in angiogenesis process markedly by faster epithelialization and granulation process. This study was aimed to prove that HBOT could accelerate the wound healing process among DFU patients measured by wound size and depth of PEDIS score. This was a ran-domized controlled trial study, conducted at Surgery Department of Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Gen-eral Hospital from September 2018 to March 2019. There were 20 DFU patients divided into two groups, each of 10 patients. The control group received a holistic treatment, meanwhile the HBOT group received a holistic treatment added with the inclusion of HBOT. PEDIS score assessment of DFU in HBOT group was measured before and after the third HBOT session, meanwhile the con-trol group was measured on the first and the third day. The results showed that the difference in PEDIS score value was markedly found in HBOT group compared to the control group (2 vs. 0, P=0.001). Conclusion: HBOT could enhance the wound healing process in DFU patients based on the declined PEDIS score. Keywords: HBOT, PEDIS score, diabetic foot ulcerAbstrak: Ulkus kaki diabetik (UKD) masih merupakan masalah kesehatan terkait proses penyembuhan lama sehingga biaya pengobatan meningkat. Wound care is a major biomedical field that is challenging due to the delayed wound healing process. Some factors are responsible for delayed wound healing such as malnutrition, poor oxygen flow, smoking, diseases (such as diabetes and cancer), microbial infections, etc. The currently used wound dressings suffer from various limitations, including poor antimicrobial activity, etc. Wound dressings that are formulated from biopolymers (e.g., cellulose, chitin, gelatin, chitosan, etc.) demonstrate interesting properties, such as good biocompatibility, non-toxicity, biodegradability, and attractive antimicrobial activity. Although biopolymer-based wound dressings display the aforementioned excellent features, they possess poor mechanical properties. Gelatin, a biopolymer has excellent biocompatibility, hemostatic property, reduced cytotoxicity, low antigenicity, and promotes cellular attachment and growth. However, it suffers from poor mechanical properties and antimicrobial activity. It is crosslinked with other polymers to enhance its mechanical properties. Furthermore, the incorporation of antimicrobial agents into gelatin-based wound dressings enhance their antimicrobial activity in vitro and in vivo. This review is focused on the development of hybrid wound dressings from a combination of gelatin and other polymers with good biological, mechanical, and physicochemical features which are appropriate for ideal wound dressings. Gelatin-based wound dressings are promising scaffolds for the treatment of infected, exuding, and bleeding wounds. This review article reports gelatin-based wound dressings which were developed between 2016 and 2021.
