<p>ABSTRACT<br />Bali becomes the world’s tourism that has varied culture, one of them is ‘Tari Kecak’ (‘Tari Cak’ or ‘Fire Dance’). Through qualitative research based on constructive paradigm, the researcher depended on participative observation and in depth interview to the key informants and informants (from local society and tourists). By using Semantic Meaning Theory from Charles Osgood, the results show five meanings from ‘Tari Kecak’, namely (a) avoiding curse, (b) as a belief system, (c) as a holy thing, (d) as an art and culture and also (e) as economic income.<br /><strong>Keywords:</strong> Message, Tari Kecak, Semantic Meaning Theory</p><p><br />ABSTRAK<br />Bali merupakan destinasi wisata dunia yang memiliki ragam budaya, salah satunya adalah Tari Kecak (biasa juga disebut sebagai Tari “Cak” atau Tari Api/fire dance).

The transition appears accordingly in the process of knowledge sharing of “Songket” waving technic in Pandai Sikek. This social phenomenon necessarily affects local knowledge of the community and initiates some knowledge transformation. The aim of this paper is to see how exactly the transformation of the local knowledge of “Songket” waving technic as a part of society’s culture arise.  The paper employs qualitative methods combined with ethnographical approach. Natural disaster, tsunami, occurred in 2004 in Aceh and several cities in the world inflicted heavy losses not only materially, but also psychologically. A lot of help came from all over Indonesia. PT. Pos Indonesia also made contribution to organize a social campaign by selling stamps. The tsunami stamps were first issued in May 2005. Visually, the tsunami stamps were different from other natural disaster stamps that were also issued by PT. Pos Indonesia. This encouraged the researcher to conduct a research on the meaning of stamps, especially from the branch of deconstruction, which was difference. The term difference refers to a trace between sign systems. This was a qualitative research. Data were collected through interview with tsunami survivors in order to obtain overviews and subjective perceptions based on empirical experience on tsunami event. The analysis technique used was coding. This research found that there were meanings in the belief system, human natures, and political tensions occurred at that time.

Through narratives and critical interrogations of classroom interactions, I sketch an argument for a co-constitutive relationship between qualitative research and pedagogy that imagines a more reflexive and socially just world. Through story, one comes to see an interplay between one's own experiences, one's own desires and one's community — I seek to focus that potential into an embodied pedagogy that highlights power and, as a result, holds all of us accountable for our own situated-ness in systems of power in ways that grant us potential places from which to enact change. Key in this discussion is a careful analytical point of view for seeing the world and a set of practices that work to imagine new ways of talking back.

Despite the benefit of modern contraception, its use remains low in Nigeria. This study examined belief system as a barrier to the use of modern contraceptives among the Idoma of Benue State, North Central Nigeria. Questionnaire ( n = 1107), in-depth interview ( n = 6) and focus group discussion ( n = 52) were used to collect data from three local government areas (LGAs). The results showed high levels of knowledge (88.0%), however, only 37.8% used modern contraceptives. The male condom had the highest percentage use (56.7%). Chi-square results showed that LGA, education and occupation were significantly related to the use of modern contraceptives. Being of greater age increased the likelihood of use, whereas higher levels of education and income decreased the likelihood of modern contraceptive use ( p < 0.05). Qualitative data indicated that married women were expected to eschew modern contraceptives due to their belief in Alekwu, the community deity. Designing interventions that are culturally specific could promote use of modern contraceptives among the group.

Haute cuisine is emblematic in the world of tourism and is of fundamental importance in the economic and social life in most countries worldwide. Haute cuisine gastronomic experiences play with the senses, involving the diner, thus generating a unique experience for the customer. This empirical study aims to analyze the influence on the consumer of the characteristic stimuli of a high-level gastronomic experience in a restaurant with two Michelin stars. Using neuromarketing biometrics, combined with a qualitative research technique, the objective of this research was to determine the emotional impact of the presentation and tasting of dishes compared to wines and to draw conclusions about each variable in the general experience. The results indicate that the dishes have a greater influence on the level of interest than the wines, and both have a different emotional impact at different moments of the experience due to its duration.

The fashion industry being one of the most polluting industries in the world means that it is an industry with an immense potential for change. Consumers are central and are closely intertwined with how companies act. This research reflects consumer perspectives and practices towards the topic of sustainability implemented in the fashion industry. The relevance of sustainability in the fashion industry and the key role of consumers in its implementation are undeniable and confirmed by consumers in a representation of general awareness and concern, despite not always being translated into actual practices. A qualitative research methodology, followed by a set of interviews conducted with consumers, revealed that the great majority are implementing a variety of practices when making their buying choices towards fashion items. Barriers such as lack of education, information, knowledge and transparency were identified, and this aspect was shared by consumers as a reason why they are not motivated to make more conscious decisions. Companies should educate consumers from a general perspective and focus on the group of consumers that are not implementing sustainability in the fashion industry in their buying choices, as they represent the potential for the future.

Cities known around the world as sanctuary, solidarity or refuge cities are resisting restrictive national migration and refugee policies and are seeking ways to accommodate migrants and refugees who lack support from the nation state. In this paper I examine urban solidarity approaches in Berlin and Freiburg in Germany, and Zurich in Switzerland. Interviews with key informants reveal that urban solidarity in these cities is not limited to including migrants and refugees living within the city’s boundaries. Rather, urban solidarity reaches beyond municipal boundaries to connect different places and scales in the form of inter-urban solidarity networks and initiatives that aim to enable migrants and refugees who are still abroad to arrive in the city. The complex geographies of urban migrant and refugee solidarity reach far beyond city limits.

Leaders are very important for organizations and businesses. The various characters of leaders can determine the success of an organization due to their role and responsibility for planning, organizing, and decision-making of organizational strategies to achieve their goals. One of the leaders whose characteristic is quite interesting and possibly become our role models is Larry Page, a co-founder of Google Inc. The researchers used qualitative research methods by descriptive research in explaining Larry Page style of leadership in leading Google Inc. Result of this study shows that Larry Page has a very open and equal way of leading, making him a democratic and transformational leader for an instance Larry believe in crazy ideas of their employees since he believes that insane ideas could change the world whereas not all the leaders can trust their subordinate. To hear the ideas, Larry always encourages his subordinate to speak up at every opportunity and instantly give them constructive feedback.
