Ultrasound is often the imaging modality of choice in patients with acute right iliac fossa pain.  Right iliac fossa pain remains the commonest clinical dilemma encountered by general surgeons. The management of acute right iliac fossa pain is audited, examining the relationship between symptom duration, use of pre-operative radiological imaging and patient outcome. Objective: To determine the diagnostic role of ultrasonography in Right Iliac Fossa pathologies. Methods: A cross sectional descriptive study was carried out at the Department of Radiology in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore, Pakistan. Duration of study was from March 2018 to November 2018. 85 patients with Right Iliac Fossa pain selected through convenient sampling technique. Statistical software for social sciences (SPSS version 22.0) is used for the analysis of data. Conclusion: The results in the study reflect findings from high volume emergency surgical departments and patients of pain in right iliac fossa demonstrating that unfocussed abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds are not an appropriate use of resources in patients with Right iliac fossa pain. Giant colonic diverticula are a rare manifestation of diverticular disease and there are fewer than 150 cases described in the literature. They may have an acute or chronic presentation or may remain asymptomatic and be found incidentally. As the majority (over 80%) of giant diverticula are located in the sigmoid colon, they usually present with left-sided symptoms but due to the variable location of the sigmoid loop, right-sided symptoms are possible. We describe the acute presentation of an inflamed giant sigmoid diverticulum with right iliac fossa pain. We discuss both the treatment options for this interesting condition and also the important role of computed tomography in the diagnosis and management of abdominal pain in elderly patients.

Introduction: The supervision model commonly applied in nursing is the 4S model, namely the Structure, Skill, Support and Sustainability (4S) stages. This supervision model can be applied by the head of the room and the head of the shift as a supervisor in overseeing the implementation of Islamic spiritual nursing care in adult inpatient rooms. Purpose: to analyze the relationship between the role of the 4S supervisor model and the implementation of Islamic spiritual nursing care in adult inpatient rooms. Methods: the study used a cross sectional method. The sampling technique with a proportionate stratified random sampling was 62 nurses. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate analysis with Spearman test, and multivariate with logistic regression. Results: showed the role of the 4S supervisor model was good (88.7%), the implementation of Islamic nursing care was good category (52%), there was a relationship between the role of model supervision 4S with the implementation of Islamic spiritual care, with a significance value of <0.0001 and the strongest relationship between the 4S model and the implementation of Islamic spiritual care is the variable skill and sustainability, seen from the significance value for skills of 0.05 (Pvalue ≤0.05), and sustainability of 0.01 (Pvalue ≤0.05). The strength of the relationship is seen based on the OR [EXP {B}] value, respectively, skill (0.194) and sustainability (0.109). Discussion: The probability of nurses implementing Islamic nursing care well is 90% if they provide Islamic spiritual nursing care skills and continuous supervision by the hospital supervisor.

SACCOS play a major role of providing financial access to poor people who are excluded from the services of Formal Financial Institutions (FFIs). However, they also face number of challenges which may affect their performance. Most of the previous studies in the area of SACCOS did not concentrate on their performance. The aim of this study therefore was to assess performance of SACCOS in Maseru District, Lesotho. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design where data were collected at one point in time. A sample size of 369 respondents was computed by the use of formula by Yamane (1967). Respondents in the sample were selected by using simple random sampling technique. However, respondents from individual SACCOS were proportional to the total number of members in particular SACCOS. This was done in order to make the sample representative of all SACCOS in the study area. Analyses of data were done by using different techniques which include: mathematical equations (i to vii); different financial ratios; tables; graphs; bar charts and other types of descriptive statistics like mode and percentages. It was found that socio economic characteristics of members were supportive to financial performance of the SACCOS. Furthermore, SACCOS in the study area achieved high performance in terms of ratios of members’ capital; loan delinquency; volumes of savings in the SACCOS; and growth of total assets. On the other hand, the SACCOS realised poor financial performance in terms of ratio of fixed assets to total assets; and share capital owned by members.

Introductions: Cases of colic of the vermiform appendix have been rarely described or diagnosed. Appendicoliths cause acute appendicitis and appendicular perforation. It is still not clear whether appendicoliths cause appendicular colic in the absence of acute appendicitis. Methods: A cross sectional study that included appendectomy done for recurrent appendicitis or chronic right iliac fossa pain. Histology reports were reviewed. The presence of an appendicolith in the report was noted. Results: Thirty-two cases of recurrent appendicitis and chronic right iliac fossa pain were included. Twenty-four patients (75%) had fecoliths in the histology specimens. Eight patients (25%) who presented with appendicular colic without signs of appendicitis were further evaluated. Conclusions: Majority of patients with chronic or colicky right iliac fossa pain had appendicoliths.
