This study presents the transformation of the kiai's leadership in forming regeneration and developing Islamic boarding schools in Al Ummah Islamic Boarding School Sukabumi. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of case study research, which focuses on the leadership portrait of the kiai, the mechanisms and steps for the operationalization of leadership, and the process of changing leadership. Data collection was carried out in 2018 by interviewing kiai, kiai families, students and community leaders. The results showed that the portrait of kiai leadership at Pesantren Al Ummah Sukabumi is oriented towards a democratic leadership style, which is the operationalization mechanism for the transformation of private ownership into institutional property, curriculum development, and infrastructure development. This is based on the replacement of kiai who have died, replaced by kiai families who have a holistic orientation and understanding in developing future pesantren. Recommendations from the results of this study are the importance of developing Islamic boarding schools which are not only oriented towards religious development, but also fostering students to have skills that will become their life provisions in the future.

This research is framed by a large topic of leadership. More specifically this research is directed to analyze the tendency of leadership style in Islamic educational institutions. The subject is Putri Al Mawaddah Islamic Boarding School 2, Jiwut Village, Nglegok District, Blitar Regency, East Java. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The focus of this research is about: 1) the tendency of leadership style, and 2) several aspects that contribute positively to the practice of leadership style. The research data was collected through interview, observation, documentation, and questionnaire techniques. While the analysis of the data follows the direction of Miles and Huberman which includes steps: 1) Data reduction, 2) Data display and 3) Conclusions. The results of this study concluded that: 1) The tendency of the leadership style at Putri Al Mawaddah Islamic Boarding School 2, Jiwut, Nglegok, Blitar Regency. the most dominant is democratic leadership; and 2) Some aspects that contribute to the practice of leadership style at the Putri Al Mawaddah Islamic Boarding School 2, Jiwut, Nglegok, Blitar Regency include: a) hereditary aspects; b) geographical; c) economy; d) aspects of the target vision and mission; and e) characteristics and advantages of boarding schools.

Purpose of the study: This study aims to explore religious development programs in boarding schools in Yogyakarta and to find out how the implementation of religious development programs, especially preventive counseling programs. Methodology: This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection used observation, interviews, and documentation. The subject were religion teachers, counseling teachers, the vice-principal of student affairs, homeroom teachers, students, and parents of the student. Main Findings: The results showed that there are two religious development programs at boarding schools in Yogyakarta. First, the development of faith and piety towards Allah by providing concepts in the form of a school lesson. Second, a program to teach religious morals values by internalizing religious values about morals. At the beginning of the study, these programs were designed by paying attention to many current teenage issues and anticipating their future. Applications of this study: This study can be useful in the field of educational psychology, especially in the personality section. The results of this study can be used by counselors at a school to overcome adolescent problems. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research showed that to make a student well behave in this digital age was not enough if only giving a theoretical study to them but also inviting them to do good things to their teacher. Furthermore, a stay program in the boarding school can be a consideration for parents to form a positive personality for their children.

<em>Financing is one of the keys to implementing an education. One source of funding sourced from the government is the School Operational Assistance (BOS) program. The purpose of this study was to: (1) describe the distribution of BOS funds in the education of Islamic boarding schools in the Ministry of Religion Office in Malang Regency, (2) explain the supervision of BOS funding in Islamic boarding school education, (3) describe the implications of BOS funding in improving quality Islamic boarding school education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a type of case study research. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data is analyzed by reducing relevant data, describing and drawing conclusions. The results showed that, (1) the distribution of funding for BOS funds in the education of Islamic boarding schools in the Malang Ministry of Religion Office was carried out in accordance with the flow, (2) supervision of BOS funding in improving the quality of Islamic boarding school education was carried out according to the time of disbursement at the time of reporting of BOS funds, namely by direct and indirect supervision, (3) Implications of BOS funds in improving the education quality of Islamic boarding schools, namely: improving student achievement and learning outcomes and increasing teacher welfare.</em>

The purpose of the study was to find out the title role of Pesantren believer Cooperative Mandiri Sidoarjo towards economic empowerment and independence employee boarding schools. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach to the case study method. Data collection was carried out by interviews and direct observation to informants, namely those in charge of pesantren, cooperative and cooperative employees (santri). And secondary data collection comes from journals, text books and other literature. The result of this study is the Mukmin Mandiri Pesantren Cooperative plays a major role in enhancing the empowerment of cooperative employees (santri) and playing an optimal role in supporting the independence of the cottage. The economic empowerment of pesantren employees conducted by the Mukmin Mandiri Pesantren Cooperative is by making the Cooperative a work field, a place to apply knowledge and a place to increase income. As for the independence of the cottage, that is to become the main source of funding for Islamic boarding schools in carrying out operations and the sustainability of Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to describe the NU Ubudiyah applied at Al-Ishlah Islamic boarding school and how to prevent students from ideologies who are fond of convicting heresy. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study research design. The results stated that NU's strong ideology was tight in Indonesian society at the grassroots level. This ideology is rooted in the traditions of society. Starting from reading Yasin, Tahlil, and others that are difficult to disappear. The tradition is acculturated with the beliefs of Ancient Javanese inherited by Hindu Buddhism.

In addition to the book base, memorization of the Qur'an is also the main base of various Islamic boarding schools in this archipelago. With techniques and methods that have been widely used, one of the typical traditions of rote evaluation carried out by the An-Nur Ngrukem Islamic boarding school is the memorization ranking test. In practice, the memorize ranking tests have various dynamics experienced by female students. This article explains how the dynamics of female students encounter memorized ranking test related to the study of Quran living at the An-Nur Ngrukem Islamic Boarding School. The case study research that forms the basis of this paper, proves the existence of internal and external factors in the dynamics of female students in the face of memorization ranking tests. Among them, internal factors; puberty, mental readiness, tenacity and memorization, and patience. While external factors; need some tips from dzuriyyah and administrators, the strict requirements and conditions of the test, the increasing number of students at the An-Nur Ngrukem Islamic Boarding School and need to manage the time.

Globalization is something we cannot avoid, and it impacts on all fronts, both positive and negative impacts. Globalization can also be a challenge for all, consequently, it requires a smart strategy to face the challenges of globalization. One of them is Pesantren. Pesantren with their classic characteristics must have a strategy to adapt to today’s guidance so that it able to maintain the existence, survive and be accepted by an increasingly advanced society. One of the pesantren that is aware of this is the API ASRI Islamic boarding school in the city of Magelang, this salaf-style pesantren has proven to be able to compete with other Islamic boarding schools, although it has only been established for about 13 years, but it has become the reference boarding school throughout Indonesia. This has attracted research attention to find out what the challenges of globalization are facing the API ASRI Islamic boarding school and how the strategy of the API ASRI Islamic boarding school in facing the challenges of globalization. This research is a case study research, using a qualitative descriptive approach. In this study, researchers used several techniques and data collection instruments, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. Techniques to check the validity of the data used in this study. The result of this study is that the biggest challenge faced by API ASRI Islamic boarding school is sophistication and promiscuity. Both of these are challenges of globalization that make Islamic boarding schools prepare themselves for this. Furthermore, the strategy used is through the formation of the character of the students and the formation of skills of the students. In terms of character building through the existence of Pesantren organizations and activities including the recitation, congregational prayer and mujahadah. And in terms of skill formation includes establishing formal schools and the existence of extracurricular activities which include English, tambourine and calligraphy.

Kiai is essentially a title given to someone who has knowledge in the field of religion in this case Islam. For that researchers focused research on: 1) How kiai efforts in improving the ability to read the book yellow santri? 2) What are the factors that support and inhibit the improvement of reading ability of yellow book students ?. Type of research in this thesis is using qualitative approach with case study research design. All data obtained from observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis is done by examining all existing data, data reduction, checking data validity, observation persistence and triangulation. From the research that has been conducted, the research results are 1) Efforts in improving the reading ability of yellow book students, 2) Supporting factors and obstacles are The management of boarding school and Madrasah Diniyah boarding schools are very helpful in the learning process.Keywords: Kiai, The ability to read the book of yellow.

One of the most important aspects of learning is the  strategy. Basically every educational institution has diverse strategies in delivering learning materials. As a typical educational institution, Pesantren has a unique learning strategy. This study aims to uncover the learning strategies of speaking skills in the al-Ansar boarding school and the learning of speaking skills based on the theory of behaviourism. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study research method. Researchers obtained data through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis was done through classification, data presentation, and drawing conclusions based on Milles and Huberman's theories. The results of this study are as follwos. 1) Strategies for teaching speaking skills are: Shobah al-lughah, Tabligh, language festival competitions and application of substantive conversation, language gam., 2) Strategies for teaching speaking skills in behaviourism theory are Shobah al-lughah, Tabligh and language festival competitions. The findings generated in this study were the learning of speaking skills using behaviourism theory gradually affect the students' speaking skills.

The purpose of this study was to determine the kyai leadership style in developing the majelis taklim Islamic Boarding School Ar-Rahmah Sleman Yogyakarta. This study uses a qualitative method using descriptive analysis. At the same time, this type of research approach is a case study or field research oriented towards collecting data in the field. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation and interviews. The observation is used to determine the ongoing program of activities, leadership styles and activities with members of the majelis taklim. At the same time, interviews were conducted with 20 informants from the board of foundations and members of the majelis taklim. The results showed that the Kyai leadership style in developing the majelis taklim Islamic Boarding School Ar-Rahmah Sleman Yogyakarta uses a democratic leadership style with indicators that include: The leader makes plans together with members, evaluates ongoing programs, decision making is carried out based on deliberation, respecting the ability or potential of members, the familiarity of the leader with the members without any distance like siblings, having good communication, being able to provide motivation, provide protection, input, guidance, and direction to members to carry out their duties better.
