The current stage of development of Russian society is characterized by rather intense and serious socio-economic, industrial, legal and spiritual-moral changes. These changes, due to the characteristics of mental development, have the greatest impact on the personality of young people and their behavior. The paper considers the problem of the value orientation of contemporary youth in Russia. The psychological characteristics of the person have been determined, in relation to which various value orientations are formed from the point of view of E. Fromm’s concept, and their role in vocational formation. The authors have proved the integrity, the integration of the value system with other personality characteristics, as well as the differences in individuals regarding the orientation to “Being” or “Possession”. The conclusions have been drawn that the nature of the value orientation of young people in contemporary Russia is complex. Values are divided into blocks according to the spheres of human life and are subject to the more general law of their dominant orientation - “Being” or “Possession”. Accordingly, the nature of personality orientation determines the formation and development of value groups.

The current stage of development of international relations marks the two fundamental processes: globalization and regionalization. They coexist in a dialectical unity. The article explores some important aspects of this process: conflict of legal values, reflected in the contradictory law enforcement practice; peculiarities of globalization in context of law of international organizations; globalization and regionalization in the activity of transnational corporations. It is noted that the establishment of global market requires a clear legal formalization. Research methodology is based on the general methods of cognition: dialectical, logical, systemic, functional; as well as the methods common to the science of international law: systemic-legal, comparative-legal, and interpretation of law. The thesis is substantiated that globalization and regionalization are the revolutionizing phenomena with regards to social life and world politics. The author determines the patterns of these political-legal occurrences in the modern world. A thought is highlighted that we are the witnesses of the formation of a new and interdependent world, which implements the principle of supremacy of law in the international relations.

China’s Belt and Road Initiative could be treated ambiguously. On the one hand, it is intended to transform the newly acquired economic potential of that country into its higher status in the world. China invites a lot of nations to build up gigantic transit corridors by joint efforts, and doing so it applies productively its capital and technologies. International transactions in RMB are also being expanded. But, on the other hand, the Belt and Road Initiative is also a necessity for China to cope with some evident problems of its current stage of development, such as industrial overcapacity, overdependence on imports of raw materials from a narrow circle of countries, and a subordinate status in global value chains. For Russia participation in the Belt and Road Initiative may be fruitful, since the very character of that project provides us with a space to manoeuvre. By now, Russian exports to China consist primarily of fuels and other commodities. More active industrial policy is needed to correct this situation . A flexible framework of the Belt and Road Initiative is more suitable for this objective to be achieved, rather than traditional forms of regional integration, such as a free trade zone.

Building on Fielding’s idea of escalator regions as places where young people migrate (often temporarily) to get rapid career advancement, this paper proposes a new perspective on 'escalator migration' as it applies to frontier or remote regions in particular. Life events, their timing and iterations have changed in the thirty years since Fielding first coined the term ‘escalator region’, with delayed adulthood, multiple career working lives, population ageing and different dynamics between men and women in the work and family sphere. The object of this paper is to examine recent migration trends to Australia's Northern Territory for evidence of new or emerging 'escalator migrants'.

Persistent economic inequality between men and women, combined with differences in gender expectations and growing inequalities among women globally, has resulted in families “outsourcing” childcare by employing migrant domestic workers (MDWs). While studies have addressed the intimacy and complexity of “mothering” in such contexts, the agentic position of child-recipients of such care have seldom been explored. This article increases our understanding of care-relationships by examining their triangularity among children, MDWs, and mothers in Hong Kong. Drawing on in-depth interviews with young people who grew up with MDWs, alongside interviews with MDWs themselves, this article describes processes through which care work transforms into what Lynch describes as “love labor” in these relational contexts. In these contexts, commodified care from MDWs can develop, through a process of mutual trilateral negotiations, into intimate love-laboring relationships that, in turn, reflect larger dynamics of familial transformation that are endemic to “global cities.”
