Abstract This study aim were to analyze the potential availability of breeds for beef cattle development in Seram Utara Timur Seti District. The research method used was a desk study and survey method. Desk studies were conducted by utilizing relevant secondary data from various related agencies, as well as relevant research results. Meanwhile, surveys and direct observations in the field were carried out in the Animal Husbandry Production Center (KSP) areas, namely Wailoping, Kobisonta and Waitila Village. The variables observed included population structure and potential availability of beef cattle. The results showed that the proportion of the beef cattle population for the categories of calves, youth and adults was 23.18; 22.18 and 54.64% respectively. The sex ratio of male to female in all age categories is still below the normal ratio of 1 male to 5. Total breed growth (net increase) was 70 tails per year from the total population of beef cattle in Seram Utara Timur Seti District (13,032 tails). The total growth of beef cattle is still less than 1% (around 130 heads) of the total population, so it is necessary to pay attention for the development of the source area for beef cattle breeding in Seram Utara Timur Seti District.

Efforts to increase beef cattle population and genetic in Brebes Regency can be done by using artificial insemination (AI) technology approach. Therefore this study aims to determine the factors that influence the ability of beef cattle farmers in adopting artificial insemination technology (AI) in Brebes Regency. Survey method was applied to observe beef cattle and farmers. Sampling technique used Slovin formula with 90% significant rate to observe variables, namely the ability of farmers to adopt AI technology (Y); social factors (X1) consisting of age (X1.1), educational background (X1.2), farming experience (X1.3), herd size (X1.4); technical factors consisting of S/C (X2.1) and oestrous detection (X2.2); and economic factor is AI costs (X3). The research data obtained were analysed using descriptive analysis and correlation. The results showed that adoption of artificial insemination in beef cattle in Brebes Regency had a negative correlation with age (X1.1) (rs = -0.498), did not correlate with educational background (X1.2) (rs = 0.221), farming experience ( rs = X1.3) (rs = -0.056), and the herd size (X1.4) (rs = 0.094) as social factors; does not correlate with the value of S/C (X2.1) (rs = 0.203) and estrous detection (X2.2) (rs = 0.259) as technical factors; and negatively correlate.ed with AI cost (X3) (rs = -0,661) as an economic factor. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the adoption of artificial insemination in beef cattle in Brebes Regency is influenced by social and economic factors, especially from the age factor and AI cost factor that is less supportive.

Beef Cattle Productivity under Group of Farmer at the VillageABSTRACT. Development of beef cattle in Indonesia should be carried out through sustainable production system approach especially under smallholders in the village areas. The information of beef cattle productivity level under current production system is very important for the basis data in relation to the development strategic program. The purpose of current study was to find out the productivity of beef cattle production under group of farmer at the village areas. Survey method at 34 farmer groups of beef cattle located at Cilacap, Banyumas, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara and Kebumen regencies of Central Java was implemented. The beef catle productivity in terms of cow-calf operation and fattening were recorded. Data analysis by qualitative and quantitative descriptive statistics. This study found that Ongole Cross, Sumba Ongole Cross, Simental Cross and Charolois Cross were raised for fattening and Brahman Cross for cow-calf operation. The performance of beef cattle of fattening purposes was moderate condition. Body Condition Score (BCS) ranged from 4 to 6 (scale 1-9) with the modus 4 (for Ongole Cross, Sumba Ongole Cross) and 5 (for Simental Cross and Charolois Cross). The productivity of cow-calf operation was very low with the reproductive rate and preweaning calf mortality were 6 and 25 percent, respectively. Good Farming Practice with attention on selection of breeds and strengthens feeding aspects could be taking into account in order to improve beef cattle productivity under group of farmer at the village areas.

Artificial Insemination (AI) in beef cattle breeding is one of the efforts to accelerate genetic quality, production, the productivity of livestock, and increasing the supply of quality livestock seeds. This study aims to evaluate the success rate of AI based on Service for Conception (S/C), Conception Rate (CR), Calving Rate (C/R), knowing what the factors that affect AI and knowing the role of inseminators and breeders in the success of AI in Southeast Padangsidimpuan subdistrict are. This research was conducted in Padangsidimpuan subdistrict from June to October 2020. The population of this study consisted of 28 acceptor breeders of AI and one inseminator. Sources of data used were primary and secondary data and data collection techniques by observation and interviews and analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the success rate of AI was based on Service For Conception 2,09, Conception Rate 39%, and Calving Rate 57%.
