This study is a mixed method design which employed both quantitative and qualitative methods in order to investigate the impact of dialogic learning on students’ attention and academic achievement. Data were collected using several instruments, including: the Attention Network Test; academic performance tests and semi-structured interviews. Results of Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) indicated that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of students of the experimental and control groups on the executive control in favor of the experimental group after controlling the IQ score and pre-test scores. Further, there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of student of the experimental and control groups on the academic achievement tests (except of mathematics) in favor of the experimental group. The qualitative data also supported the quantitative findings. Therefore, dialogic teaching has significantly greater and more positive changes on some aspects of attention and academic performance.

This paper analyses the implementation of cooperative learning techniques in accounting subjects to investigate whether students’ willingness to work in groups, based on their perceptions regarding this learning technique arising from previous group working experiences, are related to their academic performance. The findings reveal that students’ perceptions regarding their improved skills due to having worked in groups are positively and significantly related to their academic performance; meanwhile students’ perceptions of having learnt from others are negatively and significantly related to their academic performance. Therefore, this study extends the existing literature on cooperative learning and students’ academic performance by considering students’ attitudes toward working in groups resulting from their prior experiences.

In the approach to learning, teachers must be able to create an active, creative, effective, and funlearing. One of the learning approaches that can be used to create this active, creative, effectiveand fun learning in a group is cooperative learning. Jigsaw was particularly selected from varioustypes of cooperative learning. It was because it is used by researchers in science education, andless popular in social science education. Jigsaw arouse students' attitudes to learning, including inthe History subject. Jigsaw that is one ofthe types of cooperative learning models that encouragesstudents to be active and help each others in mastering the subject matter to achieve maximumperformance. The aim of the study was to see the different models of cooperative learning onstudents' critical thinking skills in the History subject. The method used was by using the teststatistics with analysis using Excel for Windows. To determine whether there is any differences, tests of paired data (Student's t-test) were comducted. If there are no significant differencesbetween the dependent variable for the pre-test, it will be used followed by ANOVA in the posttest. The results showed that there is a difference between the type of cooperative learning modeljigsaw with traditional learning in the study on the critical thinking skills of students in the Historysubject.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of using web-based curricula on seventh grade students' achievement in mathematics in King Abdullah School in Irbid, Jordan. The researcher followed the equivalent pre/post T-test two group designs. To achieve the aim of the study, a pre/post-test was constructed to measure students' achievement in mathematics. The test consisted of twenty five questions on statistics and probability. The sample of the study comprised of (148) seventh grade students, they were 37 male students for the experimental group and 33 male students for the control group, while the female students for the experimental and control group were 38 and 40 respectively from King Abdullah School in Irbid during the first semester of the scholastic year 2009/2010. Descriptive statistical analyses were used (means and standard deviation) for the pre and post- tests of students' mathematical test to experimental and control groups. Comparison statistical methods were used (Two Way ANOVA) analysis of variance to make a comparison between the control and the experimental groups, gender variable (male and female), and interaction between them. The findings of the study indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the post-test between the control and the experimental groups in favor of the experimental group, and there was no statistically significant difference in the students' achievement due to gender. There was no statistically significant difference due to the interaction between gender and group. The researcher proposed some recommendations to enhance the effect of using performance-based assessment on students' language accuracy such as conducting further studies on other populations and for a longer time.

Background. There is growing interest in the association between physical activity (PA) and academic performance (AP) in children, especially in the developing world. However, no in-depth study of such kind has yet been undertaken in Nepal. Therefore, this study was carried out to determine if there is correlation between PA and AP in secondary schoolchildren in Nepal. Methods. A crosssectional study was carried in four schools of Nepal. Two schools (one private and one public) were randomly selected from two different districts. Physical activity and academic performance levels of students were obtained via questionnaires and Pearson’s correlation was done to determine any association. Results. Our study showed a significant correlation between physical activity and academic performance in the study population. The correlation was significant for male students, students from rural and urban areas and from public schools. However, there was no significant correlation in the female population and students of private schools. We also observed a significant difference in the physical activity performed by male versus female students (male > female), along with a significant difference in their academic performance (male > female). Further analysis of correlation on the basis of gender showed that physical activity of male students was significantly correlated with the academic performance irrespective of the location and type of school. However there was no such correlation in the female students. Conclusion. Our study found that male students who were physically active showed positive correlation between physical activity and academic performance while no such correlation was found in the female students.
