The research was aimed to determine the volume and time of giving the natural antibiotic which are optimal for the value of Index Performance (IP) of broiler chickens. The first treatment variable was: giving natural antibiotics with a dose for partition 1 0.05mL / 40 mL water / chicken / day, partition 2 0.1mL / 40 mL water / chicken / day, partition 3 0.15mL / 40 mL water / chicken / day, partition 4 (synthetic antibiotics as a comparison) and carried out for 35 days in a fixed time of 24 hours. Optimal results with the best Index Performance (IP) obtained from the first variable followed by the second treatment variable, the time of giving natural antibiotics for partition 1 given once a day, partition 2 every two days, and partition 3 three days with a constant giving dose  0.15 mL / 40 mL water / chicken / day for 35 days. The parameters observed were: (1) average body weight, (2) weight gain, (3) feed consumption, (4) feed conversion, and (5) number of live chickens. From these data the IP of broiler chickens was calculated and from the two variables obtained the optimal dose and time of giving natural antibiotics. Based on research results from the product, the best of giving natural antibiotic volume is 0.15 mL / chicken or equal to 4.2 mL / 28 chickens which it is able to increase the value of broiler chicken IP until harvest time. From the optimal results obtained in the trial volume variation of giving natural antibiotic, the experiment can be continued with the aim of determining the optimal time of giving herbal antibiotics namely the best results are obtained once a day for 28 chickens because it shows that the giving natural antibiotic is able to increase the IP value of broiler chickens until harvest.

Pre-natal (PN) and post-hatch (PH) assessments were carried out on two broiler chicken strains to examine possible origin of strain differences and response to heat stress. One hundred and forty fertile eggs incubated for 18 days as PN and 192 day-old broiler chicks as PH; were evenly divided between two strains (Arbor Acres [AA] and Marshal [MS]). For the PN assessment (day 18, 19 and 21 of incubation), embryos were dissected and organs weighed. Liver glycogen and moisture content of the carcass and residual yolk sac were also determined. Post hatch, average body weight (ABW), average daily feed intake (ADFI) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were measured under high natural ambient temperatures. At d 18 of incubation, proportional breast weight and yolk moisture was higher in AA than MS (P < 0.05), with the same trend observed at d 21 for yolk weight (%). Breast, gizzard, heart and liver weights were observed to increase linearly, in proportion to weight of embryo (P <0.001), between d 18 and 21 on incubation, while the inverse was observed for yolk weight (%). Post-hatch, ADFI and FCR at the end of the starter phase were lower in MS compared with AA (P < 0.05). However, at the end of the finisher phase, only ADFI was significantly influenced by strain of broiler (AA < MS; P < 0.05). Serum electrolytes and carcass characteristics did not differ between strains (P > 0.05). Phenotype differences in were manifested prior to hatch, with Marshall exhibiting advantage to Arbor Acres under high ambient temperatures.

The objective of the research was to evaluate to effect of feeding mengkudu on performances of broilers. The research design used was completely randomized design. One hundred broilers were distributed into five treatments. The treatments were different levels of mengkudu meal (0, 0.75%, 1.5%, 2.25 % and 3%). The observed measured were feed consumption, average body weight (gain) and feed conversion. Results showed that feeding mengkudu (Morinda Citrifolia L.)  no effect significant (P>0.05) on feed consumption, average body weight and feed conversion.  In conclusion, feeding mengkudu meal up to 3% (in diet) does not negatively affect feed consumption, average body weight, and feed conversion.

Two trials were conducted to determine feed color effects on broiler performance. A completely randomized design was used. Trial 1 included four treatments: control (complete broiler starter diet), red, green, and blue; and Trial 2 included four treatments: control, orange, yellow, and purple. Each trial had 4 treatments with 4 replicates (60 birds/treatment) fed to 240 male Cobb 500 broilers during a 21 d grow out. Data were analyzed using the GLM procedure. In Trial 1, there were no treatment effects on average body weight, body weight gain, and feed consumption (p > 0.05). Adjusted feed conversion for control (1.23) was less than red (1.27; p = 0.001) and green (1.26; p = 0.009), with blue (1.25; p = 0.056) tending to be different during the experimental period. In Trial 2, there were no treatment effects on average body weight, feed consumption, and adjusted feed conversion during this study (p > 0.05). Body weight gain between d 1 to 14 for purple (490.78 g/bird) was more than orange (467 g/bird; p = 0.013) and yellow (461 g/bird; p= 0.004), with control (474 g/bird; p = 0.052) tending to be different. Results indicate that these feed colors had some, albeit limited, influence on broiler performance parameters.

Growth performance and carcass characteristics of capons (castrated cockerels) from three breeds/strains locally presented in Slovenia and Austria were investigated. Growth and feed consumption data were collected for a 156-d and 199-d period, when randomly chosen animals were slaughtered and their carcasses dissected. The feed conversion rate in barred Prelux, Sulmtaler and Styrian capons for the whole growing period was 6.24 kg, 6.32 kg and 7.53 kg, respectively. Average body weight in barred Prelux and Styrian capons increased only in the first 156 days of age, but not further on. Cumulative mortality rate in Sulmtaler capons was 19.05 % and was 2.7- to 4.4-fold higher as compared with Styrian and barred Prelux capons (6.90 % and 4.31 % respectively). Sulmtaler capons had the lowest abdominal fat content. Barred Prelux capons, as compared to capons from other two breeds were characterized by higher pre-slaughter weight, higher carcass weight and higher dressing out percentages. This indicates that the layer type barred Prelux cockerels have a potential to be as capons put to profitable use.

A total of (120) day old Bounty Fresh colored broiler chickens were carried out in a completely randomized design to evaluate the effect of different levels of oregano leaf meal (OLM) on the growth performance at a dietary levels of 0, 3 ,6 and 9% respectively.   Results showed significant in terms of cumulative feed consumption, gain weight and feed conversion ratio. Broilers given 6% of level of oregano (T3) had the heaviest body weight on the seven week of age with a mean 1955.25 grams while the lightest was those broilers without the supplementation of oregano leaf meal (T1) with a mean of 1743.75 grams. The inclusion of OLM as fed diet were the most efficient feed converter and therefore, has the potential to increase rapid growth and improve vitality and livability of colored broiler chicken. Insignificant result was obtained in terms of the percentage rate of growth, dressing percentage with and without giblets and feed conversion ratio as revealed by the analysis of variance. However, in terms of the income over feed and chick costs, Colored broiler chicken fed with 6% oregano leaf meal had the highest return of Php 88.89 and the lowest return was those broilers without oregano with a return of Php 50.47.The results suggest that OLM at 6% level can be safely used as feed ingredients to the broilers without any deleterious effect.

Determining the optimum level of lysine in the ration will be a significant effort to avoid poor growth in duck husbandry. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum dietary lysine requirement for EPMp broiler ducks, raised up to 10 weeks of age. The study was designed in a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 dietary treatments, and 4 replicates. Each replicate consisted of 10 ducks. The 4 treatments were diets, containing lysine: 0.60% (T1); 0.70% (T2); 0.80% (T3) and 0.90% (T4). Variables measured included: feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR), carcass and carcass cuts percentages. The results showed that the performance of 10 weeks of age EPMp broiler duck was significantly affected by the level of dietary lysine (P&lt;0.05). The average body weight gain and the FCR of the duck were significantly affected (P&lt;0.05) by dietary lysine level, but not for feed consumption and percentage of carcass (P&gt;0.05). The average body weight gain of EPMp duck with T4 treatment (0.90% lysine) was significantly higher than that T1 (0.60% lysine) but did not significantly difference (P&gt;0.05) with T2 and T3. The average FCR of EPMp duck under T3 and T4 were significantly (P&lt;0.05) higher than that of EPMp duck under T1. It was concluded that the optimum dietary lysine to produce maximum body weight gain of EPMp duck raised up to 10 weeks of age was 0.70%, while for minimum FCR were at the level of 0.80% and 0.90%.

The effect of different litter materials on ammonia concentration of the air ambient stall and broiler performanceABSTRACT. The study was conducted to observe the effect of ammonia concentration of broiler chicken coop air to the treatment various types of litter. High ammonia concentrations would interfere with performance of broiler chickens and become a problem for the environment. A good litter quality is expected to address the problem of ammonia that occur in the broiler chicken coop. This study uses a completely randomized, with 5 litter treatments. T0 without treatment repose only black plastic as litter, litter composition T1 100% bran, 50% T2 litter composition husks and Charcoal Shell 50%, T3 50% 50% husk litter composition and zeolite 50%, T4 25% husks litter composition, 25% charcoal, 25% zeolite and 25% of the land. Each treatment was repeated 3 times, each test consisted of eight chickens. Parameters observed in the form of ammonia concentration of air cages at week four, weekly feed intake, weight gain per week, the final weight, feed conversion, and mortality. The results indicate different types of litter treatment was very real influence of ammonia concentration of air enclosure. T4 treatment with a 1:1 blend of each component of the litter that is used successfully absorb such a large aerial ammonia, which indicates the ammonia content of the air is the smallest compared with other treatment 4. While the treatment without litter showed a very large aerial ammonia compared with the treatment. Feed consumption results also showed that the treatment that produces a small value causes ammonia to be markedly higher consumption. Values for weight gain, final weight, feed conversion, and mortality are not significantly affected by various types of litter treatment.

DIGESTIBILITY OF DRY MATTER AND ORGANIC MATTER OF RAJA BANANA PEELS WITH Rhizopus oligosporus FERMENTED IN BROILER RATION. This study aims to determine the digestibility of dry matter and organic material rations using the peels of banana Raja fermented with Rhizopus oligosporus in broiler chickens. This research was conducted using 20 broilers of Arbor Acres CP. 707 Strain aged 5 weeks, with an average body weight of ± 1067 grams. The design used was: Student t-test consisting of 2 treatments, each treatment consisted of 10 broilers as a test. The rations used in this study were: Raja Banana peels flour without fermentation and fermented products with Rhizopus oligosporus mold. The t-student test results showed that the digestibility of dry banana skin powder of fermented Raja banana product was significantly different (P<0.01) compared to unripe fermented Raja banana flour which was 62.32% to 71.66% as well as the digestibility of organic matter ie from 66.74% to 73.01%. Based on the results and discussion it can be concluded that the use of raja banana skin peel flour 15% fermented product in the ration gives betterresults to the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter compared to without fermentation. Keywords: Raja Banana Peels, Fermentation, Rhizopus oligosporus, Broiler Chicken.

Wafer is one of the complete feed form processed feed which is formed in such a way with special tools, made from concentrate and forage. The purpose of this research was to implementation of wafer feed on based palm kernel cake for adult ongole crossbreed cattle. The cattle used was ongole crossbreed cattle, cow males used as much as 12 tails with approximately 2 years of age and average body weight 200 ± 25 kg. Wafer feed of based palm kernel cake treatment in 4 formulas, namely: Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, and Formula 4. Feed was given ad libitum controlled and drinking water was given ad libitum. The observation variables were done against: feed consumption, weight gain, and feed conversion. The results showed that: Wafer feed of based palm kernel cake treatment has no significant (P > 0.05) influence against feed consumption in adult ongole crossbreed cattle, daily weight increase in mature ongole crossbreed cattle with wafer feed; Formula 1 of 0.63 kg/tail/day, Formula 2 is 0.60 kg/tail/day, Formula 3 is 0.73 kg/tail/day, and Formula 4 is 0.80 kg/tail/day, the best feed conversion in the range of feed Formula 4 ie (4.13), feed Formula 3 ie (4.53), feed Formula 1 ie (5.13), and feed Formula 2 ie (5.43).

Abstract Kampung Unggul Balitbangtan (KUB) chicken is a new improved variety of native chicken produced by the Agency for Agricultural Research and Development. In order to increase the productivity of KUB chickens, high quality feed ingredients are needed, one of the local feeds that has good nutritional content for chicken is Moringa oleifera Leaf Meal (MOLM). Moringa, a type of legume crop, can be used as a good source of protein for chicken growth. This study aims to determine the effect of MOLM on the quality of KUB chicken growth. Forty KUB chickens aged 6 weeks were allocated in this study and divided into 2 treatment groups, namely (i) T0 = without MOLM treatment; (ii) T1 = 5% MOLM treatment. Data were statistically analyzed using independent sample t-2 test or non-paired t test (non paired system) using Microsoft Excel application program. The parameters observed include body weight gain, body weight, feed consumption and feed conversion. The results showed that the addition of 5% MOLM to diet KUB chicken had a significant effect on an average body weight of 1,552.5 g/bird at 18 weeks, body weight gain of 1,000 g/bird, feed consumption of 5,720 g/bird and improve the feed conversion of 5.15. While those without added MOLM have an average body weight of 1,207 g/bird at 18 weeks, body weight gain of 723 g/bird, feed consumption is 5,150 g/bird, and feed conversion of 6.75.  Keywords: Feed; Growth quality; KUB chicken; Moringa oleifera leaf meal;   Abstrak Ayam KUB Balitbangtan merupakan varietas unggul baru ayam kampung hasil produksi Badan Litbang Pertanian. Untuk meningkatkan produktivitas ayam KUB diperlukan bahan pakan yang berkualitas, salah satu pakan lokal yang memiliki kandungan gizi yang baik untuk ayam adalah tanaman Kelor (Moringa oleifera). Kelor, sejenis leguminosa yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber protein untuk pertumbuhan ayam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tepung daun kelor/MOLM terhadap kualitas pertumbuhan ayam KUB. Empat puluh ekor ayam KUB umur 6 minggu dialokasikan dalam penelitian ini dan dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok perlakuan yaitu (i) T0 = perlakuan tanpa kelor; (ii) T1 = perlakuan daun kelor 5%. Data dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan uji independent sample t-2 atau non paired t test (non paired system) menggunakan program aplikasi Microsoft Excel. Parameter yang diamati meliputi pertambahan bobot badan, bobot akhir, konsumsi pakan dan konversi pakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan MOLM 5% pada pakan ayam KUB berpengaruh nyata terhadap rata-rata bobot badan akhir 1.552,5 g/ekor selama 18 minggu, pertambahan bobot badan 1.000 g/ekor, konsumsi pakan 5.720 g/ekor dan nilai konversi pakan 5,15 sedangkan yang tidak diberi MOLM memiliki bobot badan akhir rata-rata 1.207 g/ekor selama 18 minggu, pertambahan bobot badan 723 g/ekor, konsumsi pakan 5.150 g/ekor, dan konversi pakan 6,75.
