Mid-March 2020 made adjustments in all areas of our normal lives. All spheres of the world economy suffer from huge losses. This results in inevitable changes that should be made quickly and appropriate measures requiring their immediate implementation. Absolutely all countries suffer from COVID-19 pandemic consequences and its devastating impact on all areas of the national economy. The franchising field is not the exception. According to statistics, the largest number of franchises of the service sector, which is the most one suffering from the introduction of strict quarantine measures. The lack of permission for full-fledged work, as in the pre-quarantine period, left some networks without any revenue at all. This was the impetus for changing the formats of franchises, if possible, or for their complete closure. After all, not all franchisors could pay royalties at low earnings, and some even had to face their complete absence. Therefore, closing for some formats was the best solution. Those who managed to preserve the format, with possible changes, faced a new reality, where it was necessary to take into account not only the interests of consumers, but also the new quarantine rules. That is why the analysis of franchising during the pandemic is very important. The work of franchising during COVID-19 pandemic, quarantine and post-quarantine measures are analyzed in this paper. Their direct influence on the work organization is analyzed as well. Analysis of the potential entrepreneurs readiness to buy franchise in comparison with the purchase of ready-made business model and starting your own business from scratch is carried out. The main world directions where it is important to open and develop franchise networks to be relevant and in demand are identified. It is considered how domestic networks respond to the quarantine measures, which anti-crisis means are used for their enterprises, which new formats are set up on the basis of the main enterprises. The loyalty of some franchisors and their anti-crisis measures for the franchisee are also investigated. The loyalty of some owners makes it possible to maintain their network in economically difficult times.

The relevance of the study is due to the growing role of services in the world economy. Trade in services has become the dominant driver of economic growth and development in both developed and developing economies. Since the 1980s, data suggest that there is a stronger relationship between trade in services and gross domestic product (GDP) than in the case of commodity growth and GDP. It is noted that the quality of policies, regulations and institutional frameworks is a key factor in determining the effectiveness of services. As services are increasingly subject to liberalization through multilateral and regional trade agreements, it is important that countries develop harmonized approaches to internal regulation and trade liberalization in the services sector. The article identifies the features and characteristics of the service sector as a factor of multifaceted development and growth. The dynamics of international trade in services by geographical structure and types of development of countries is studied on the basis of statistical data of international organizations, taking into account the impact of the pandemic. It is noted that international trade in services is becoming an increasingly important part of global commerce. The problematic aspects of the activity of small business entities to enter foreign markets of services are considered. The issue of urgency of digital economy development for the sphere of services and contribution to world markets is outlined. Opening up the services sector has the potential to bring great benefits and deserves more attention. Further prospects for the realization of entrepreneurial potential in a comprehensive global economy are outlined. It is noted that services are an important part of the world economy, generating more than two-thirds of world gross domestic product (GDP), attracting more than three-quarters of foreign direct investment in developed economies, and creating most of new jobs worldwide. Establishing effective coordination mechanisms between trade negotiators, policymakers and regulators will be an important tool for the development of the global economy.

The positive results have been achieved only when any exposures of abuse are excluded and all decisions are received as a result of common consensus. The other trends of globalization might be ended with disaster. Globalization influences all sectors of national economy, including unemployment. In the article into detailed form are discussed the positive and negative sides of influence that globalization has on the national state and economy. The world economy is in transition. It is moving from the industrial age to a new set of rules — that of the “Information Society” or knowledge economy. This will change everybody’s work, affecting the flow of new ideas into enterprises, their management, organisation and procedures. These changes have major impacts on the roles leaders need to play, and on the skills they need. The focus of a leader has shifted towards more intangible issues, being a visionary, a storyteller and a change agent. Leaders need to change and to keep reinventing themselves, they have to be ready to adapt, to move, to forget yesterday, to forgive, and to structure new roles and new relationships for themselves, their teams and their ever-shifting portfolio of partners, and they need to have the capacity to employ more than one style of leadership. The chapter reviews the literature on the skills and abilities leaders need to be successful in the knowledge economy, and describes the way in which they need to manage their organisations by managing the organisation’s business model, creating a risk-encouraging culture and by playing different roles.

The paper analyzes changes in the structure of the real sector of world economy that have increased economic instability and made the Keynesian methods inapplicable for suppressing the oscillation amplitude in economic cycle. The abrupt expansion of two segments in the service sector is noted: the debt derivatives market and entertainment industry. The global financial-economic crisis that started in 2008 cannot be attributed to the processes in the financial sphere alone it serves as a manifestation of general civilization crisis. Measures, analogous to the internalization of external effects, are proposed to mitigate the adverse impact of the hypertrophic development of new segments in the service sector on the world economic system and the civilization as a whole.

Until recently, the economic entities in Russia made an assessment of their financial and economic situation according to the traditional procedures, prevalent for the decades. These techniques have played a positive role at a certain stage of development, as the Russian state, and the world economy as a whole. However, it seems the time has come to change the tradition in determining financial stability, solvency, liquidity, business enterprises, associations, sectors of the economy to make substantial changes in the conditions of economic sanctions aimed at weakening of the national economy. The approaches to the determination of the probability of enterprises’ bankruptcy, which are mainly based on the theories of Western economists, require changes.

The purpose of the article is to consider the practical aspects of the structural transformation of economy. Over the past few decades, absolutely all national economies have undergone structural changes, regardless of their size, economic system and all other political or economic differences. The transformation of structures was associated with many factors, including institutional changes, technological changes, the widespread introduction of the results of scientific and technological progress, globalization and integration processes. At the same time, it should be noted that not all structural changes had a positive effect for all countries, even though the changes had almost the same trend of growth in the share of the service sector, a decrease in the share of agriculture and manufacturing. This article is an attempt to systematize the main trends and consequences of structural transformations in the world. The authors put forward the hypothesis that the world economy tends to “servicization” and deindustrialization, which has dialectical significance for the world economy. To assess the structural changes, we analyzed the data of the World Bank to study the dynamics of changes in the sectoral structure of the countries of the world in the period from 1990 to 2019. A very great influence on these processes was exerted by globalization, which through its mechanisms made possible a rapid change in industry proportions not only in the developed world, but also in developing countries, while forming a global trend of “servicization” of the economy. The authors tried to conduct a comparative analysis of the impact of each economic sector on GDP using a regression model based on panel data from more than 180 countries of the world presented by the World Bank.

In the context of the interaction of international competitiveness of economic entities and their economic security, it should be noted that globalization of the world economy has one of its consequences a relative equation of the conditions of competition in national markets. As a result of providing by governments the most favored and national regimes, as it was required by international norms of legal regulation of the economy, national and foreign producers find themselves in roughly similar conditions on individual countries or their unions markets. In this case, foreign economic and international security should become a barrier to global threats for the development of national economy and its producers in the global system of world economy. At the same time, the universal requirement imposed on any national economic entity is its competitiveness.
