The work of Ukrainian artists who have contributed to Ukrainian and international art, is not sufficiently disclosed. Their creative search impresses with versatility, interesting decision, continues to impress and inspire contemporaries. Purpose of the article — to find out the contribution of the Ukrainian avant-garde artist, set designer, teacher Oleksandra Ekster, to the Ukrainian and international fine arts. Oleksandra Ekster’s work has been the subject of research for decades. Scientists are interested in the painter’s art search, her contribution to Ukrainian avant-garde, scenography reforms, and teaching activity. Some sources may state that Ekster is a representative of Russian avant-garde. However, the artist grew up in Kyiv, obtained art education and promoted with her work not only Ukrainian but world avant-garde as well. The research of modern scientists (H. Kovalenko, D. Horbachova, T. Filevska, N. Stoliarchuk, M. Yur and others) makes it possible to review the artist’s life and artistic journey as well as her contribution to art history. The research methodology consists of a range of methods: historical, biographical, theoretical. The abovementioned methodological approach allows studying the question of historical data relating to the events in Ukraine that led to the emigration waves, finding out certain biographical facts and analyzing the artist’s creative activity.

The variety of varieties (implementation technologies) of the method of “brain storming” or “brain attack”, used in the process of collective generation of ideas and solutions in such areas as design and management, is known. This diversity includes: reverse, shadow and combined brainstorming, brain write on paper, individual brainstorming, brainstorming on the board, brainstorming in the style of «Solo», visual brainstorming, brainstorming as japanese, the morphological method and method of analyzing the range of problems, analogy method, random impulse, «635» method, moderation method. The inclusion of “brain storming” of the variety “individual brainstorming” into such a mix raises some doubts among a number of researchers, since the brainstorming method was originally and in essence intended for the collective generation of ideas and solutions. World science studied and known the specific differences of individual (personal) and collective (group-wise) consciousness, behavior and mental activity. The author of the article considers the possibility of generating “new” information in the process of imitation multi-position collective activities in individual thinking, considering such an approach to be different from the variety of technologies of the “brain storming” method.

The role of fine arts in the process of developing pupils’ creative activity remains insufficiently studied. This is especially true for the specifics of developing a values-based attitude towards any kind of creative activity in the representatives of such a complex age group as younger adolescents. The paper aims to develop and experimentally verify the methodology for developing creative activity in younger adolescents using fine arts in the educational process of secondary schools based on theoretical justification of the problem of the individual’s creative activity. This methodology was aimed at implementing a holistic set of creativity exercises, partial searching and artistic creativity tasks and a variable model for organizing the actions in the form of “the projection of desire”. The control and experimental groups involved the same number of younger adolescents, namely, 143 respondents, whose indicators of development levels of creative activity did not differ significantly. Different methods were used to identify the level of creative activity: questionnaires, interviews, conversations, pedagogical observations, partial searching, multi-level artistic creativity tasks and creativity exercises. The level of creative activity in younger adolescents in the experimental group has increased: a prospective level - by 9.1% (from 7% to 16.1%), a differentiated level - by 5.6% (from 51.7% to 57.3%). A situational level has decreased by 14.7% (from 41.3% to 26.6%). All the obtained data differ from the tabular ones for the selected high level of statistical significance (0.01<p<0.05), which indicates the effectiveness of the developed methodology for developing creative activity in younger adolescents using fine arts in the educational process of secondary schools.
