Workplace environment is an integral part of a hospital. The workplace environment influences on nurses’ performance both positively and negatively. A cross-sectional study was conducted in Chittagong Medical College Hospital, Chittagong from 1st January to 31st December 2017 with the aim to assess the workplace environment and performance of nurses. Total respondents in this study were 210 nurses. Samples were selected by purposive sampling technique. After taking written consent from the respondents, data collection was done by face to face interview using a semi-structured questionnaire with the help of Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire II and Performance Evaluation Rating Scale. Data were analyzed using SPSS. The study findings revealed that 43.3% had good, 51.4% average and 5.2% poor state of physical environment and 10.0% had good, 88.1% average and 1.9% poor state of psychosocial environment. Therefore 70.5% respondents’ performance needed some improvement. The results revealed that there was a significant relationship between educational qualification and workplace performance of nurses (p< 0.001; pulled from χ2 text) and psychosocial environment and workplace performance of nurses (p<0.015; pulled from χ2 text). So, a conducive workplace environment is very crucial in every hospital to improve nurses’ performance and provide quality care. Asian J. Med. Biol. Res. December 2020, 6(4): 705-713

Lactation management is management needed to support the success of breastfeeding. Based on the data obtained from Riskesdas in 2012, the incidence of early initiation of breastfeeding process in Indonesia was only 29.3%, one of the influencing factor was the condition of post-cesarean women. Breastfeeding process for women with cesarean would be very hard and cause psychological problems, such as anxiety. This study aimed to determine the relations between knowledge of lactation management and anxiety in the breastfeeding process in women post cesarean delivery. This study was a correlation study with cross-sectional approach. The number of samples was calculated using Slovin formula, 59 women involved in this study that chosen using purposive sampling technique. The data were collected using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HARS) questionnaires and lactation management knowledge questionnaires. The relations analysis was performed using Spearman Rank Correlation. The result showed that 54.2% of mothers have moderate knowledge and 39.0% of them experience mild anxiety. Therefore, there was a significant relationship between the breastfeeding process and anxiety ρ 0.001 <0.05. It can be concluded that there is a relation between knowledge of lactation management and anxiety in the breastfeeding process. Conclusion,  It is suggested that nurses should provide nursing care on postnatal period, especially on how to give the appropriate breastfeeding so that anxiety in the breastfeeding process in the post of cesarean can be prevented. Keywords: anxiety, breastfeeding, knowledge, lactation management, sectio caesarea

Introduction: Adherence in ARV therapy is an important mechanism in preventing drug resistance. The level of adherence is influenced by several factors, one of which is the information skills factor. This study aims to analyze the relationship between information skills and ARV adherence in People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).Method: This was a cross-sectional approach with a sample size of 100 respondents who were selected through simple random sampling technique. The inclusion criteria for respondents were PLWHA who were undergoing ARV therapy, cooperative, aged 20-60 years. The instrument used was information skills questionnaire and Medical Adherence Rating Scale (MARS). The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and logistic regression test with p value ≤ 0.05.Results: Information skills were  associated with ARV adherence (p = 0.01). Information skills consisting of knowledge about HIV/AIDS and ARV therapy can increase ARV adherence in PLWHA with indicators taking drugs regularly and have medical control on schedule. Conclusions: The information skills factor has an effect on ARV adherence. Increasing information skills can be done through educational activities or peer-group support aimed at gaining insight into disease and treatment, especially for newly diagnosed PLWHA.

Objective: To explore the relationship between the income of general practitioners (GPs) and the performance characteristics of their practices. Design: Cross-sectional survey. Setting: All practices ( n = 166) in an inner city health authority, two years before the introduction of the new GP contract in April 2004 were studied. Main outcome measures: True income per GP was unavailable to us. Instead, the proxy measure - superannuable pay - was calculated (gross eligible income per GP minus the national average sum for GP expenses). Practice staff funding figures were also obtained. These two financial indicators were compared with practice characteristics and performance indicators. Results: Data were available from 151 out of 166 practices. Based on regression analysis, larger list sizes and higher practice staff budgets predicted 31% of the variation in GP income (standardized β = 0.66, P < 0.001; β = 0.19, P = 0.02; respectively). Higher staff budgets were independently associated with better cervical smear and two-year-old vaccination rates (standardized β = 0.24, P < 0.01; β = 0.18, P = 0.03; respectively). No association was demonstrated between performance indicators and income. Conclusion: Under the previous contract, GPs were able to maximize their income by taking on more patients, whereas achievement of performance targets had very little impact on overall income. The opportunity costs of pursuing higher-quality care might have outweighed the modest financial rewards attached to performance targets. Provided rewards for good-quality care are sufficiently high, the new GP contract is likely to tip the balance in favour of generating earnings by improving the quality of clinical care. To deliver this care, as measured by available performance indicators, our findings imply that a greater investment in practice staff will be needed.

The instrument in this study used a questionnaire sheet and a check list. To measure the level of anxiety using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HRS-A). Chi-Square hypothesis test. Result : Research Results From the results of the chi-square calculation, the p-value is 0.571, which means that the p-value is ≥ 0.05.
