Abstrak Gong Senen merupakan karya ukir Jepara lampau yang dirancang langsung oleh Citrokusumo, yang merupakan Adipati Jepara, sekitaran tahun 1720 silam. Citrokusumo seolah-olah menjadikan Gong Senen sebagai sarana atau media berkomunikasi dengan warganya. Setiap ornamen pada Gong Senen mengandung nilai-nilai pesan religiusitas yang secara umum meliputi hubungan manusia dengan Tuhannya, sesamanya serta lingkungannya. Namun, pada masa modern ini, tidak banyak masyarakat Jepara, khususnya desa Senenan yang mengetahui karya ukiran bersejarah ini, begitu juga dengan pesan atau nilai yang terkandung pada setiap elemen ukirnya. Oleh karenanya, penelitian ini diharapkan mampu melacak, menganalisa hingga merangkum apa saja nilai-nilai religiusitas yang terepresentasi dalam setiap elemen-elemen ukiran Gong Senen Jepara. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Selain menggunakan pendekatan estetis dan historis, penelitian ini juga menggunakan teori tanda semiotika sebagai pisau analisisnya, dengan mengindikasikan objek ornamen sebagai penanda dan makna dibalik ornamen tersebut sebagai petanda. Adapun nilai-nilai filosofi kehidupan Adiluhung Jawa di balik kemegahan ornamen ukir Gong Senen ini adalah pesan kepada warga Jepara, sebagai contoh dalam ornamen merak untuk menjaga lima perkara sebelum datangnya lima perkara, yakni menjaga masa muda sebelum tua, sehat sebelum sakit, kaya sebelum miskin, sempat sebelum sempit, serta hidup sebelum mati. Kata Kunci: desain, Gong Senen, Jepara, religiusitas, representasi AbstractGong Senen is an ancient Jepara carving designed directly by Citrokusumo, the Duke of Jepara, around 1720. Citrokusumo seems to make Gong Senen a tool or medium to communicate with its citizens. Each ornament carved on Gong Senen consists of the values of the religious messages which generally includes the human relationship with God, each other, and the environment. Yet, Not many people of Jepara, especially Senenan village, know about this historic carving as well as the message or value contained in each element of the carving. Therefore, this research is expected to trace, analyze and summarize the religious values represented in each element of Gong Senen Jepara carve. This research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. In addition, besides using aesthetic and historical approaches, this study also uses semiotic sign theory as a tool of analysis, by indicating the ornament object as a signifier and the meaning behind the ornament as a signified. The philosophical values of the “Adiluhung” (great) Javanese life behind the splendor of this Gong Senen carved ornament are a message to Jepara’s residents, as an example in peacock ornament to protect five matters before the arrival of five matters those are keeping the youth before the old, the health before the sick, the rich before the poverty, the ability before the inability, and the life before the death. Keywords: design, Gong Senen, Jepara, representation, religiosity

ABSTRAKNovel merupakan karya fiksi imajinatif  ekspresi pengarang tentang fenomena kehidupan manusia    yang mengandung unsur ekstrinsik. Salah satu unsur ekstrinsik tersebut adalah nilai-nilai religius. Novel Mencintaimu Seperti Kucintai Qur’an adalah salah satu ekspresi  Wahyu Sujani yang memiliki nilai-nilai religius yang kental.  Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai religius tersebut melalui teknik dokumentasi dan analisis karya melalui pendekatan pragmatik. Data yang dianalisis bersumber dari novel  Mencintaimu Seperti Kucintai Qur’an karya Wahyu Sujani yang menjadi pusat kajian. Hasil analisis nilai religius yang ditemukan dalam novel Mencintaimu Seperti Kucintai Qur’an  karya Wahyu Sujani adalah: 1) Hubungan manusia dengan Allah (beribadah kepada-Nya, mensyukuri nikmat-Nya, bersabar menerima cobaan Allah, dan memohon ampun dan taubat kepada Allah);  2) Hubungan manusia dengan hati nurani atau diri sendiri (sabar, memegang amanah, pemaaf,  ikhlas); 3) Hubungan manusia dengan sesama manusia (tolong menolong, menegakkan keadilan); dan 4) Hubungan manusia dengan lingkungan hidup (tumbuh-tumbuhan).Kata kunci: analisis, nilai religius, novelABSTRACTThe novel is an imaginative work of fiction author expression about the phenomenon of human life that contains extrinsic elements. One of the extrinsic elements is religious values. The Novel Mencintaimu Seperti Kucintai Qur’an is one of the revelations of Wahyu Sujani which has thick religious values. This study aims to describe these religious values through documentation techniques and analysis of works through a pragmatic approach. The data analyzed were sourced from the novel Mencintaimu Seperti Kucintai Qur’an by Wahyu Sujani, which became the center of the study. The results of the analysis of religious values found in this novel are: 1) relationship with God (worshiping Him, giving thanks for His blessings, being patient in accepting God's trials, and asking God for forgiveness and repentance); 2) Human relationship with conscience or self (patient, holding trust, forgiving, sincere); 3) Human relations with fellow human beings (please help, uphold justice); and 4) The relationship between humans and the environment (plants).Keywords: analysis,, religious values, novel

This research aims to describe the aspects of faith between human and God (Hablumminallah) which is found in Jambi Malay song lyrics on the album  Mayang Mangurai by Syahril Jahari. The type of research used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The data of this research is the lyrics of Jambi Malay songs on the album Mayang Mangurai by Syahril Jahari. The data shows that each of the song lyrics signified the quotation of religious values relating to the relationship of human with God (Habluminallah). Based on the analysis, it can be seen that there are several aspects found in that song lyrics in which 28 quotations  derived from the aspect of faith in God. This represents how people have faith in God. Based on the analysis, it can also be concluded that the lyrics of Jambi Malay songs on the album Mayang Mangurai by Syahril Jahari contain religious values related to human relationship with God (Hablumminallah) from the persepctive of God’s blessing towards human being.

A novel titled BumiCinta written by Habiburrahman El-Shirazy takes place in the Russian setting, in which Russia is a country that adopts freedom. Russia with various religions embraced by its people has called for the importance of human freedom. Free sex in Russia is commonplace among its young people. Russia is a country that is free with no rules, no wonder if there have been many not embracing certain religion. In fact, according to data Russia is a country accessing the largest porn sites in the world. Habiburrahman in his Bumi Cinta reveals some religious aspects. He incorporates the concept of religion with social conflicts in Russia. Therefore, the writer reveals two fundamental issues, namely: 1. What is the characters' religiosity in the Habiburrahman El-Shirazy'sBumiCinta? 2. What is the characters' religiosity in the BumiCinta in their relationship with God, fellow human beings, and nature ?. To achieve the objectives, the writer uses the religious literary criticism based on the Qur'an and Hadith. It emphasizes religious values in literature. The writer also uses the arguments of scholars and schools of thought to strengthen this paper. This theory is then used to seek the elements of religiousity in the Habiburrahman El-Shirazy'sBumiCinta. In this novel, the writer explains there are strong religious elements and religious effects of its characters, especially the belief in God, faith and piety

Qualitative research proceeds from the position that there is no one observable reality. Researchers utilizing qualitative methods build findings inductively, from raw data to a conceptual understanding. Theoretical frameworks may be utilized to guide qualitative analyses by suggesting concepts and relationships to explore. The framework may provide a sense of the story emerging from the analyses. And concurrently, the rich description provided by the analyses may allow the framework to be more deeply appreciated. However, there is a risk that using a theoretical framework may stifle inductive reasoning or result in findings incongruent to the data. The following is a discussion of the application of a theoretical framework in a qualitative study. This study, guided by the Common-Sense Model, explores the choice to undergo treatment for Hepatitis C Virus among veterans. Examples from the analyses are provided to facilitate discussion on the utilization of a theoretical framework. Techniques to optimize the use of a theoretical framework, as well as mitigate risks of such use, are presented. When utilized alongside rigorous data analyses and introspection, a theoretical framework may serve as a valuable tool to navigate data in qualitative research.

This study aims to describe the cultural values ​​contained in the Hikayat Banta Amat Volume I and II by T. A. Sakti. Cultural value is very important to be studied in order to preserve the cultural heritage of the people of Aceh so that it can be known by the younger generation and re-cultivated in life in the present. The formulation of the problem raised in this study is how the cultural values ​​contained in the Hikayat Banta Amat Volume I and II by T. A. Sakti. The data source in this research is Hikayat Banta Amat Volume I and II by T. A. Sakti. The selected data is each quotation that has a relation to cultural values ​​in the saga. The approach and method used in this research is a qualitative approach and a descriptive method by describing the facts which are then followed by analysis. The cultural values ​​analyzed in Banta Amat sects are grouped according to five categories, namely (1) cultural values ​​in human relations with God, (2) cultural values ​​in human relations with nature, (3) cultural values ​​in human relations with other humans, (4) cultural values ​​in human relations with society, and (5) cultural values ​​in human relations with oneself. The results showed there were 37 quotations related to cultural values ​​that exist in the Banta Amat saga, namely: (1) Cultural values ​​in the human relationship with God there are 6 values ​​in 24 quotes; a) Give thanks to God 3 quotes, b) Give to Allah the Prophet 1 quote, c) Pray and ask God 9 quotes, d) surrender to God 8 quotes, e) Fear God 1 quote, and f) Obey to worship God 2 quotes, (2) Cultural values ​​in human relations with nature are found in 2 quotations about utilizing the forest, (3) Cultural values ​​in human relations with other humans there are 3 values ​​in 4 quotations; a) respect for others 2 quotes, b) say greetings 1 quote, and c) answer greetings 1 quote, (4) Cultural values ​​in human relations with the community there are 3 quotes namely about mutual care, and (5) Cultural values ​​in relationships humans with themselves there are 3 values ​​in 4 quotes; a) Never give up 2 quotes, b) responsibility 1 quote, and c) hard work 1 quote. Based on the results of the study it can be seen that the cultural values ​​in the human relationship with God are more numerous than the other values. This illustrates that the people of Aceh are religious and devout people who worship God. Suggestions from researchers that the people of Aceh continue to preserve cultural values ​​such as the Banta Amat saga in daily life. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam Hikayat Banta Amat Jilid I dan II Karya T. A. Sakti. Nilai budaya sangat penting untuk dikaji guna melestarikan warisan budaya masyarakat Aceh agar dapat diketahui oleh generasi muda dan kembali dibudidayakan dalam kehidupan pada masa sekarang. Rumusan masalah yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam Hikayat Banta Amat Jilid I dan II Karya T. A. Sakti. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah Hikayat Banta Amat Jilid I dan II karya T. A. Sakti. Data yang dipilih adalah setiap kutipan yang ada kaitannya dengan nilai budaya dalam hikayat. Pendekatan dan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dan metode deskritif dengan mendeskripsikan fakta-fakta yang kemudian disusul dengan analisis. Nilai budaya yang dianalisis dalam hikayat Banta Amat dikelompokkan berdasarkan lima kategori, yaitu (1) nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan Tuhan, (2) nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan alam, (3) nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan manusia lain, (4) nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan masyarakat, dan (5) nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan diri sendiri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 37 kutipan yang terkait dengan nilai budaya yang ada dalam hikayat Banta Amat, yaitu: (1) Nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan Tuhan terdapat 6 nilai pada 24 kutipan; a) Bersyukur kepada Allah 3 kutipan, b) Berselawat kepada Nabi Allah 1 kutipan, c) Berdoa dan memohon kepada Allah 9 kutipan, d) menyerahkan diri kepada Allah 8 kutipan, e) Takut kepada Allah 1 kutipan, dan f) Taat beribadah kepada Allah 2 kutipan, (2) Nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan alam terdapat pada 2 kutipan tentang memanfaatkan hutan, (3) Nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan manusia lain terdapat 3 nilai pada 4 kutipan; a) menghormati orang lain 2 kutipan, b) mengucapkan salam 1 kutipan, dan c) menjawab salam 1 kutipan, (4) Nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan masyarakat terdapat 3 kutipan yaitu tentang rasa saling peduli, dan (5) Nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan diri sendiri terdapat 3 nilai pada 4 kutipan; a) Pantang menyerah 2 kutipan, b) tanggung jawab 1 kutipan, dan c) kerja keras 1 kutipan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat dilihat bahwa nilai budaya dalam hubungan manusia dengan Tuhan lebih banyak dari nilai yang lainnya. Hal ini menggambarkan bahwa masyarakat Aceh adalah masyarakat yang religius dan taat beribadah kepada Allah. Saran dari peneliti agar masyarakat Aceh terus melestarikan nilai budaya seperti pada hikayat Banta Amat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Kata Kunci: Hikayat, Nilai Budaya

Children’s literature is often used as a medium for teaching values, for example religious values, in order to shape children’s character based on the understanding or ideology of certain groups. Through religious-based children’s literature, the figure of a religious ideal child was created and called a pious child. This example is applied by Salafi Islamic groups in Indonesia. The group that bases its teachings from the Salaf creates Islamic children’s book genre called ”Sunna children’s book”. The method used in this article is library-based qualitative research. Studies of pious character in European minority Muslim children’s literature have been widely carried out by Green-Oldendorf (2011), Shavit (2016) and Janson (2017), while studies of pious children in Indonesian contexts have only been done little, including this article. Textual study on the construction of pious children character is carried out according to the concept of ideal child in children’s literature by Purbani (2009), children book illustration and visual by Nodelman (2004), and pious Muslim child and childhood by research approach (Hendra-Priadi, 2019 and Scourfield et. al., 2013). The result of the research shows that pious children are represented through the main character who is very diligent in worshiping, behaving well, and obedient to parents. In addition, the construction of pious children in Serial Salman dan Hamzah is based on Salafi ideology concept of tarbiyah (education) that textually refers to the Quran and Hadith.

Prayer was very important in Jesus’ life and the saints’ lives. Prayer also becomes the important need in the faithfuls’ life. Prayer is a mean to fight againts the devil and the power of sin. Prayer is also an expression of faith in God. It also becomes the way of human being to always remember to God. There are some problems: what is prayer? How do the Catholic teens of St. Hilarius’ Parish, Klepu pray together? What kind of benefits of praying together for the Catholic Teens in St. Hilarius’ parish, Klepu? What kind of impedements in praying together that the Catholic Teens of St. Hilarius’ Parish experience? The aims of this research are: to clarify the definition of prayer, to explain how the Catholic Teens of Hilarius’ parish, Klepu to do their praying together, to explain the benefits of prayer together for the Catholic Teens of St. Hilarius’ parish, Klepu. Finally, to identify various factors that supporting or inhibiting the practice of prayer of the Catholic Teens of St. Hilarius’ parish, Klepu. This research used qualitative research methods. In this study there are 10 respondents consisting of 4 male respondents and 6 female respondents. They are between 13-15 years old. They are members of St. Hilarius’ parish, Klepu. The conclusions of the research are: 1) The Catholic Teens of St. Hilarius’ parish, Klepu know the understanding of prayer. 2) The Catholic Teens of St. Hilarius’ parihs, Klepu already carry out prayers in certain times either personally or communal prayer in St. Hilarius’ parish, Klepu. 3) The Catholic Teens of St. Hilarius’ parish, Klepu understand that the benefits of communal prayer are: creating a partnership or relationship with God and friends, as well as the means to develop their personality.

The religious value of the local wisdom of the Madurese Macapat song is motivated by the variety of Madurese macapat songs that contain religious values which until now have been neglected by the Madurese ethnic in everyday life. This article examines the religious value of local Madurese wisdom in macapat songs. The method in this research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The techniques used in collecting data are through transcription, observation, documentation, and listening. Meanwhile, to analyze the data, researchers used identification, classification, and data description techniques. The results showed that the religious value of the local wisdom of the Madura macapat song contains the relationship between humans and God the creator of nature, namely Allah commands humans to carry out His good commands and stay away from His prohibitions. Meanwhile, the human-human relationship found symbolic meaning parèbhâsan with a reflection from Paul Recoer namely Kerras lamon ta’ akerrès which is intended for people who do not think before they act so that something happens less profitable for them. Madurese are advised to think before acting, so as not to be careless in doing something to others.

This chapter reviews some of the major overarching philosophical approaches to qualitative inquiry and includes some historical background for each. Taking a “big picture” view, the chapter discusses post-positivism, constructivism, critical theory, feminism, and queer theory and offers a brief history of these approaches; considers the ontological, epistemological, and axiological assumptions on which they rest; and details some of their distinguishing features. In the last section, attention is turned to the future, identifying three overarching, interrelated, and contested issues with which the field is being confronted and will be compelled to address as it moves forward: retaining the rich diversity that has defined the field, the articulation of recognizable standards for qualitative research, and the commensurability of differing approaches.

ABSTRACTThis article outlines how the advent of digital-communications technology, particularly social media, has contributed to an increased wariness by political elites to grant interviews to researchers. Errant remarks, misquotes, and comments taken out of context can exact a heavy price. Thus, politicians and their gatekeepers are far more cautious and risk averse than in decades past, which puts qualitative research methods—and the rich data they produce—in peril. Insights drawn from 32 qualitative, semi-structured interviews with social scientists, political journalists, and political staffers in six countries revealed that academics who submit interview requests should expect to be subjected to online scrutiny—a vetting—by gatekeepers before any access is granted. Digital screening aims to assess the authenticity and objectivity of the researcher. Our findings suggest that scholars who want to pursue qualitative research with politicians must practice online reputation management and perhaps even delve into personal marketing.
