One development that must be considered in the growth of early childhood is motor development, namely fine and rough motor. The problem raised in this study is the lack of fine motor skills in children due to creativity in making learning media still very weak and conventional learning. The purpose of this study was to prove the increase in fine motor skills of early childhood through a colored plastic pulp collage medium. The selection of used materials for colored plastic powder is one way to utilize used material to be recycled and used as a new medium that is attractive to children in making collages to improve fine motor. This research was conducted using 2 cycles of classroom action research. The results showed an increase in fine motor skills of early childhood from undeveloped criteria, began to develop, developed according to expectations to develop very well at the stage of giving glue to the media, arranging colored plastic powder, and tidying the patterns that had been prepared

We present the experimental results contrasting virtual fixtures (VFs) with a new shared control (SC) technique for rehabilitation of fine motor skills. The SC assistance algorithm used haptic attributes as the control goal. VF provided assistance based on trajectory. Shapes were chosen from the Visual Motor Integration test book and were used to train candidate’s nondominant hand, using samples recorded from their dominant hand. The results were analyzed using time, trajectory, forces, shape of trajectory, and haptic profiles as metrics. The results indicate that performance of VF and SC were comparable for simple trajectories and SC performed better for complex trajectories.

Relationships with primary caregivers provide the context for early childhood development, and evaluating those relationships during the early years can detect difficulties that may influence future mental health. Video feedback is a valuable intervention tool in early childhood, both for family relationships and child development. An intervention was implemented using this technique, focused on mother-father-child triads that were experiencing difficulties in social-emotional development. Participants were 80 mother-fatherinfant triads (experimental group, EG=40, control group, CG=40), with children between 1 and 3 years old. Socio-emotional difficulties decreased significantly in the children who received the intervention (Wilks λ=0.930, F (1, 78)=5.907; P=.017). There was also an increase in psychomotor development in communication (Wilks λ=0.948, F (1, 78) =4.284; P=.042) and fine motor skills (Wilks λ=0.875, F (1, 78)=11.185; P=.001) in children in the EG compared with children in the CG.

Abstract We report on the neuropsychological status of 31 children with primary brain tumors who underwent assessment before receiving therapy. Overall, the children performed within normal limits in all test areas. The exception was the group with anterior hemispheric tumors who demonstrated deficits in executive cognitive functions. Also, when compared according to tumor type, children with midline tumors and hydrocephalus performed more poorly than others on measures of intelligence, executive abilities, visual-motor skills, and fine-motor functions. Although one-half to two-thirds of the children with supratentorial midline and infratentorial tumors had cranial nerve, oculomotor, or cerebellar deficits, only the latter were associated with specific neuropsychological deficits (poorer performance on fine-motor and visual-motor tests). Age did not appear to be a factor in these children's neuropsychological test performances.

Improving fine motor skills through billon science games in group B Al Munawaroh kindergarten Banjarsari.  This research is motivated by the results of observations and experiences of researchers that the ability of fine motor skills in children in group B Al Munawaroh kindergarten Banjarsari is still low.  With the limitations of the existing media in schools, monotonous learning activities, and the lack of stimulus carried out because institutions prioritize calistung for their students, in increasing fine motor skills becomes less than the maximum.  This study uses a single case experimental method with four children aged five to six years, two male sex and two female sex who are involved in fine motor skills research through billon science games.  The data collection technique used observation sheets, and documentation, while the data analysis technique used descriptive statistics.  The conclusion of this research is the application of billon science games to improve fine motor skills in group B TK Al Munawaroh Banjarsari.  The ability of fine motor skills of children before given intervention has not yet developed (BB), in intervention 1 begins to develop (MB), and intervention 2 develops as expected (BSH).  From this description it can be concluded that the application of billon science games can improve fine motor skills in group B TK Al Munawaroh Banjarsari.  Based on the conclusions of the results of this study, it is suggested: for kindergartens to be able to provide billon science games and various media that are more interesting to facilitate the improvement of fine motor skills of students, parents should be able to provide stimulus to children making games that facilitate the development of fine motor skills  child.

Background The associations among maternal depressive symptoms (MDS), mother–child interactions and early child development are poorly understood. This study aimed to explore the role of mother–child interactions on the associations between MDS and child development. Methods A cross-sectional study with a multistage sampling method was conducted in rural areas of Central and Western China. MDS, child development outcomes (communication, gross motor function, fine motor function, problem solving and personal social skills) and mother–child interactions were assessed by The Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale, the Chinese version of the Ages and Stages Questionnaires and the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys, respectively. Regression-based statistical mediation and moderation were conducted using the PROCESS macro for SPSS. Results A total of 2,548 participants (mothers: 1,274; children: 1,274) were included in our analyses. MDS was negatively associated with child development outcomes and mother–child interactions partly mediated these associations. The proportion of the mediating effect of mother–child interactions was 7.7% for communication, 8.2% for gross motor, 10.3% for fine motor, 10.1% for problem-solving and 9.5% for personal social domains. In addition, the interaction effects of MDS and mother–child interactions on the communication domain were significant (β = 0.070, 95% CI 0.016, 0.124; p = 0.011). The associations between MDS and child communication abilities were weaker at the high level (simple slope = −0.019, t =  − 0.458, p = 0.647) of mother–child interactions than at the mean level (simple slope = −0.089, t =  − 3.190, p = 0.002) and the low level (simple slope = −0.158, t =  − 4.231, p < 0.001). Similar moderating effects were not observed in the other child development outcomes. Conclusion Our results suggest the important role of mother–child interactions on the associations between MDS and early childhood development. Due to the cross-sectional design of this study, these associations require further investigation in prospective studies.
