Controlling and evaluating the quality of training of the learner is a mandatory component of the education system. The problem of the means of testing and evaluating learning outcomes in the various professional fields is important and therefore the article is devoted to various aspects of the assessment of the training in the Pedagogy of Technology and Entrepreneurship Education. Testing has been considered as a complex process involving multiple stages: preparation; carrying out the examinations; analysis of the result. The passages are shown schematically. Preparation includes: goal setting; the content of the content for verification; fixing methods and forms for verification; setting criteria and indicators for evaluation; technical provision. The conduct of examination procedures requires: instruction; independent work of students; verification and evaluation. When the result is analyzed, the actual state is established, the actual and set values are compared, the deviations are analyzed, and corrective measures are taken.Since the traditional system for verifying the knowledge and skills of students has a number of disadvantages and is less effective, more rational testing and evaluation methods are sought in the study. They respond to the specifics of the subject area of Technology and Entrepreneurship and enable to examine both the volume and quality of the knowledge, skills and competences of students in the field of technology and economics and their ability to draw conclusions, to take a critical approach to the obtained information to properly assess non-standard situations. An analysis of some specific techniques for verifying and assessing students' knowledge is presented. Specific methods and tools for evaluation are described. The choice and construction of a complex method for verifying the knowledge and skills of the students in the subject disciplines is explained. Portfolio is mentioned as an alternative means of presentation and evaluation. There is a need for a generalized assessment of the quality of professional training. Based on Peicheva, Volkin and Naidenova’s research, we offer a model for a generalized assessment of students - future teachers of Technology and entrepreneurship. The views of the directors of educational institutions - employers of Technology and entrepreneurship teachers have also been studied. When selecting criteria for teacher recruitment, most of them rank first and second in the acquired specialty and the completed degree. Attitude towards work is also important. It is concluded that under the current conditions the examination and assessment of the acquired knowledge, skills and competences are becoming more and more important due to the need for objective selection and adequate realization of the personality. Therefore, professors responsible for the professional training of students should look for adequate methods and tools for effective testing and assessment.

Three years ago, the Polish Geopolitical Society began an initiative focused on students, PHD candidates and interested academic societies, who wished to co-operate in popularizing the subject area of geopolitics. This initiative sought to serve as a forum for such groups and individuals to compete with other interested colleagues and groups from around the world. During the process, students strive to prove their level of professional knowledge, while their teachers assist them in preparing for their best presentations. All participants then meet during the final stages of the competition in order to exchange their experiences. This, in turn, benefits the development of general approaches and methods of study regarding the discipline of geopolitics. The question addressed in this paper then, is how such international competitions can improve the overall skills and knowledge of the subject area at hand among those participating. The importance of this question is underscored by various initiatives undertaken that attempt to measure the quality of higher education. The research presented in this article, then, is based upon interviews with both participants and organizing committee members, which attempt to gauge the experiences and results achieved during such competitions. The results show both the positive and negative aspects of organizing such gatherings. Most certainly, one could draw the conclusion that such events are the most attractive to the most ambitious of students and teachers, who consider education a privilege and as a process, which continues throughout one’s lifetime. Adversely, for those who place education in the same category as a material good, to be bought and sold, such competitions have little appeal especially when focused upon a narrow field of study.

The paper considers the development of broadcasting in the Penza region in the late 1940s and early 1950s, Emphasizes that this period is characterized by active and widespread broadcasting across the country and on the territory of the studied region. Radio infection affected not only regional settlements and working centers of the region, but also remote collective farms. The leader in the development of local radio broadcasting was Kameshkir district, which had its own Studio. It is noted that the radio broadcasting of the Penza region was under strict control of the party and Soviet bodies. For each program, a mandatory verification procedure was introduced, and thematic plans of programs were sent to the places. The quality of local programs directly depended on the level of professional training of editorial staff. The most interesting and operative in content were the programs of the Penza, Kuznetsk and Kamenskaya editions, which actively attracted local party, Komsomol and Soviet workers, leading figures in industry and agriculture, propagandists and agitators to the speeches. Radio broadcasting in the Penza region in the 1940s and early 1950s was actively developed and had a strong propaganda orientation, which was reflected in the subject matter and the quantitative ratio of radio broadcasts.

This paper reports on a case study that evaluates the validity of assessing students via a computerized peer-marking process, rather than on their production of an essay in a particular subject area. The study assesses the higher-order skills shown by a student in marking and providing consistent feedback on an essay. In order to evaluate the suitability of this method of assessment in judging a student’s ability, their results in performing this peer-marking process are correlated against their results in a number of computerized multiple-choice exercises and also the production of an essay in a cognate area of the subject being undertaken. The results overall show a correlation of the expected results in all three areas of assessment being undertaken, rated by the final grades of the students undertaking the assessment. The results produced by quantifying the quality of the marking and commenting of the students is found to map well to the overall expectations of the results produced for the cohort of students. It is also shown that the higher performing students achieve a greater improvement in their overall marks by performing the marking process than those students of a lower quality. This appears to support previous claims that awarding a ‘mark for marking’ rewards the demonstration of higher order skills of assessment. Finally, note is made of the impact that such an assessment method can have upon eradicating the possibility of plagiarism.DOI: 10.1080/0968776042000259573

The success of modern transformational changes in public life depends crucially on the quality of professional training of future professionals. In this view, under conditions of reforming the Ukrainian society, a social significance of a competent specialist is extremely growing. An important area of transformational changes is the training of future teachers on a competence basis, which is conditioned by qualitative features of the competence-based paradigm in the context of modern socio-economic and spiritual development of society, changes in the nature and content of work, complexity as well as increasing requirements to performance results, on the one hand; and on the other hand – by the need to more quickly overcome the negative phenomena occurring in the system of training future professionals. The modern labour market, above all, provides for the presence of a professionally competent worker who is fluent in the profession-centred assignments and well-oriented in related fields, ready for continuous personal growth, social and professional mobility. These requirements can be fully applied to the training intended for the future teachers. At the same time, since the future specialist of any profession begins with the school, namely "the school stands for their teacher", the solution of these complicated problems depends entirely on the teacher, the quality of his / her training. As the teacher’s professional activity under conditions of the New Ukrainian school is filled with qualitatively new content, conditioned by the new demands of the society, the professional requirements to the training of the future teacher are significantly strengthened. This outlines a radical change in approaches to the process of professional training intended for future teachers. This is the general pedagogical core of this training that is important, because it deals with the equipping of students with knowledge of the basics of pedagogical theory and school practice, the development of professional thinking, the developed pedagogical skills and abilities to implement social functions alongside the subject component of the professional development aimed at mastering the logic of deploying the specifics of the content. Based on the understanding that each subject, including Biology in particular, is a means of developing the student's personality; the problem of forming future Natural Science teachers’ subject competence in Biology is becoming extremely important. This also requires the expansion of scientific knowledge about the structure of originality, in particular the subject competence in Biology under conditions of the bachelor courses, where basic higher education is obtained.

In the national educational system, the rural school has traditionally been given a significant role, which is reflected in numerous studies published in different years. The analysis of historical and pedagogical sources revealed the main stages of the origin and development of rural schools in Russia. At the beginning of the XXI century rural ungraded educational organizations have not lost their significance and are widely represented in the educational space of the country. In modern conditions, the activities of educational organizations have a significant impact on the socio-cultural and economic condition of the village, being a key condition for the existence or revival of settlements.Appealing to regulatory documents dated from different periods made it possible to analyze the interpretation of the term “ungraded educational organization” in a historical retrospective. The study of historical and pedagogical sources and modern researches indicates the existence of certain features in the implementation of educational activities in ungraded educational organizations.Inherent organizational and pedagogical characteristics have an impact on the organization of foreign languageteaching. The problem of improving the quality of foreign language education in ungraded educational organizations located in rural areas continues to remain relevant. It requires its comprehensive study and search for more effective and methodically appropriate teaching methods, techniques and technologies, taking into account the existing historical experience. Achievement of the results of studying the subject area “Foreign languages” established in regulatory documents is possible only with teaching staff, having a higher level of subject-methodological training.

The article deals with the problem of professional training specialists in tourism. The relevance of the research is that recently the role of knowledge in the process of training future specialists in the sphere of tourism has changed. In the current socio-economic context, in order to fulfill the order of society for high-level future specialists in the sphere of tourism, graduates of higher educational institutions are forced to possess not only an extensive theoretical base in their specific specialty, but also certain meta-subject knowledge. However, mere knowledge ownership is no longer sufficient in the context of the development of the international labor market. The problem of the need for the formation and development of a new quality of education appears, the updated content of which will be based on key competencies. In this case, the key competence is defined as a mandatory competence, because it corresponds to the conditions of implementation, which are not limited, not too specific, but are universal within certain limits. In this regard, a survey of future tourism experts was conducted on the subject of their perception of the importance of forming competencies. The results of the survey are described in this article.

The article considers the pedagogical culture of future masters as a component of professional competence, considers the fundamentalization of education by various scholars as a necessary condition for the pedagogical culture of future masters. The integrative core of a professional teacher is a highly formed pedagogical culture that allows individuals to self-actualize and self-realize in life, to find personal meanings in education. And the more the teacher has a pedagogical culture, the more complete will be his self-realization. Professional culture involves the ability to be a mediator, a «mediator» between students and educational material. Assimilation of this material occurs directly in the learning process, so the teacher must be ready to perform the role of advisor, assistant, consultant, communicator, partner. Successful performance of these tasks is facilitated by the presence of the qualities revealed in the article. Different points of view and approaches to the definition of the concept of fundamentalization of education are revealed. The concepts of fundamentalization of professional training of the future specialist are based on the purposes and functions of fundamentalization and on ways and means of its achievement, etc. Most authors agree only that: the fundamentalization of education is aimed at improving the quality of education and education of the individual and is necessary for the formation of pedagogical culture of future masters as part of their professional competence. Others imply the formation of culture and worldview, increasing creative and intellectual potential, the formation of professional competence of the specialist and the potential for further education, and so on. It was found that professional training includes not only the activities of teachers and students who form the learning process, but also the independent activities of the subject, self-development, assimilation of experience by the subject through analysis, understanding and transformation of the field of activity in which he included. It is revealed through the implementation of which approaches to the fundamentalization of higher professional education it becomes possible to form the pedagogical culture of future masters as a component of their professional competence, which contributes to improving the quality of training of future professionals in free economic education.
