The birth of the culture of consumerism is currently making rapid changes to the city community. However, not all urban communities accept this change. therefore, it is not uncommon to fight arguments and violence resulting from changes in consumerism. This culture of consumerism is motivated by the emergence of a period of capitalism which is carried by liberalism. The emergence of a culture of consumerism has a positive and negative impact. Has a positive impact when the employment field increases, the birth of new technology and others. The negative is when hedonism, consumerism, capitalism, and others arise.

The increasing prosperity of urban communities in Denpasar, responded by an increasing number of supermarkets and other modern food retailers has raised concerns about its negative impact on traditional retailers. In this paper we discuss about the choice pattern of public spending in the city of Denpasar in an increasingly demanding era of high quality standards. This paper also tries to explain how higher welfare of urban communities can also be distributed to farmers / ranchers in rural areas. This paper surveyed the urban community in Denpasar City to find out the choice of the shopping place for egg products. The results of the analysis using Multinomial Logit found that most people in Denpasar still shop at traditional markets and stalls for low-income and middle-income household, but some high-income household tend to shop in the modern market because they have higher quality compared to with traditional markets. People with higher education and younger household tend to shop in the modern market. Based on the choice of shopping place then we can conclude that the farmers/ranchers get a positive influence of increasing welfare in the city, because farmers/ranchers are only able to distribute their products to traditional markets, small shops and stalls.

Nowadays, small- and medium-sized enterprises play crucial roles in both developed and developing countries. They create new employment, fulfill the market gap, contribute to Gross Domestic Product and boost the whole economy. However, small- and medium-sized enterprises face more financial constraints than large enterprises, which prevent them from growing and expanding their activities. This paper aims to investigate how the innovation of small- and medium-sized enterprises impacts on credit accessibility in Vietnam from 2005 to 2015, through five aspects of innovation: new products, new technology, improved existing products, research and development investment, and machine innovation. The data set consists of more than 4500 observations of small- and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam. This data set is taken from a survey conducted within the framework of cooperation among UNU-WIDER, the University of Copenhagen and Vietnamese government agencies. Using panel regression model, we found out that three out of five innovation factors significantly impact on credit accessibility. More specifically, research and development investment and new product have negative impact on credit accessibility; whereas new technology has positive impact on credit accessibility. These findings are useful for firm managers, banks and policy makers to help small- and medium-sized enterprises overcome financial constraints through innovation aspects.

Science parks are often established to drive regional economic growth, especially in countries with emerging economies. However, mixed findings regarding the performances of science park firms are found in the literature. This study tries to explain these mixed findings by taking a relational approach and exploring (un)intended knowledge transfers between new technology-based firms (NTBFs) in the emerging South African economy. Moreover, the innovation outcomes of these NTBFs are examined by using a multi-dimensional construct. Results show that science park location plays a significant role in explaining innovative sales, but is insignificant when a different indicator of innovation outcomes is used. Furthermore, only for innovations that are new to the firms, both science park location and intended knowledge transfer via informal business relationships have a positive impact; whereas social relationships have a negative impact.

ABSTRACTCities are spatial plans on the surface (land) with administrative boundaries that have been determined where there is concentration of the population in it along with various economic, social and political activities. The city is a residential spatial structure with a large number of people on limited urban land, which is generally non-agrarian. The development of the city does not always have a positive impact, but it has a negative impact including the emergence of slum areas around the city center. Around the city center there are various centers of activity including tourism, health, education and trade as well as services in the city, provincial and national levels. The five activities are developing quite rapidly which has resulted in the development of residential areas around the city center and the poor development of slums in these locationsThe purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the development of slums. The research location is in the city of Bukittinggi, West Sumatra Province. This study uses primary data by distributing questionnaires to households throughout the City of Bukittinggi. The analysis used is logistic regression analysis. The results showed the factors that influence the development of slums including the Quality of Dwelling, Building Density, Education and Road Accessibility. These influencing factors can be used as a reference for alleviating slums in Bukittinggi City. Keywords: cities, households, slum areas. Problem statement. A quarry is classified as an architectural object that has its own structure. As each industrial facility has an expiration date, the question of its restoration and inclusion in the planning structure of the city increasingly arises. Quarries that are not used for their intended purpose pose a real threat to the dispersal of housing and public buildings in the city, complicating public relations. Although mining is necessary for the development of the country's economy, the development of deposits has a negative impact on the environment. Firstly − the change of natural relief, different in depth and other parameters, and secondly − not the same type of design solution during the revitalization of the worked quarry. The presence of analysis and principles of reorganization of space and functional purpose in the quarries can improve the affected areas of the city. Purpose − development of scientifically substantiated proposals and recommendations of the principles of revitalization of quarries as spent industrial facilities in the urban environment in accordance with the existing functional content of the city in order to create an ecologically balanced and comfortable human environment with a positive impact on the urban ecosystem. Conclusions. The study of the worked quarry not as a mining object for mining, but as an engineering complex industrial object, which in turn is able to meet the main groups of human processes, expands the criteria for analysis and improvement of the revitalization of the territory. Restoration of these facilities is aimed at improving the architectural, environmental and emotional state of the city. Using the necessary principles for a single point of integration (career), the urban area becomes more balanced in terms of functional content.

In today’s modern society, television (TV) food programs exert significant influence in the domestic and international foodservice market. This study applied the elaboration likelihood model (ELM) to examine the information processing and decision-making activities of restaurant customers related to TV food shows that they watched. The ELM was expanded and tested by including perceived risk as a factor influencing attitude towards a restaurant. A total of 347 responses obtained from Korean residents, who had obtained information delivered by a messenger in a TV program and had subsequently visited that restaurant in the three months prior to the survey were analyzed. Results revealed that the information quality components significantly influenced attitude towards restaurants. For the peripheral route, while the credibility of the messenger had no significant impact, the vividness of expression had a positive impact on attitude towards restaurants. Performance risk was shown to have a negative impact on attitude towards the restaurant. However, time risk, possibly requiring long-distance travel or long waiting times for available tables played a positive role. The long wait times may be perceived well because many people wanting to eat at the restaurants is a positive sign about the experience. Attitude towards a restaurant positively influenced visit intention. Based on the study’s findings, discussion, implications, and limitations for future studies are provided.

This article attempts to investigate the potential relationship and significance of various determinants of Total Factor Productivity (TFP) in India for the 1980–2016 time period. Specifically, this is achieved in two stages. In the first, the standard growth accounting approach is used to measure the changes in TFP. Then, the main model for establishing the determinants of TFP growth is estimated using the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model. Our results suggest that inflation and financial development have a statistically positive impact on TFP. Foreign direct investment, imports, and capital formation are found to have a positive but insignificant impact on the TFP. On the other hand, exports, government size, and natural calamities have a statistically negative impact on TFP. Therefore, in order to accelerate the TFP, governments and policymakers need to design and implement policies to increase financial access to the private sector, while maintaining price stability; exports of high-value products; and increased economic integration in the global economy to benefit from foreign investment flows, which brings in new technology.
