Abstraction           :            In just a decade, the truth that actually becomes a pillar in a life together turned out to be a lot of coloured falsehood and lies. The practice of manipulating the truth is rife because humans are in the post-truth era, an era where people are busy hiding the truth without making them feel dishonest. This situation is supported by the emergence of digital media which produces a lot of lies without going through the verification process. The claim of truth has been displaced by ‘believability’ and the institutionalization of lies is deliberately carried out to manipulate the truth. As a result the real news is a lie accepted as truth. And conversely the news that actually needs to be accepted as truth is considered a lie. This certainly brings harm to the people who should have the right to receive true news. In this situation, media literacy needs to be done so that people are responsible for promoting and spreading the right news based on the virtue of honesty. It requires hardwork and commitment, not just embrace the right for everyone to speak, but also to hear and listen, to discern which is the truth as best we can, not just for our present, but it will be very valuable for our future.

The aim of this study was to examine how the transfer of the affairs of disabled people from the state to the municipalities had proceeded. The process of the transfer was examined and then the largest municipality, Reykjavík, was chosen for a closer examination on the policy and implementation concerning services for disabled people. A qualitative study was conducted in the autumn of 2012. Eight interviews were taken with key professionals who had been involved directly in the transfer or worked on the affairs of disabled people before or after the transfer. A specialist in the affairs of disabled people was interviewed at the Ministry of Welfare and at the Association of Local Authorities in Iceland. Furthermore, a key professional was interviewed in each of the six municipal services in Reykjavík. The interviewees believed that having decided on and gone through with the transfer was the right thing to do. They believed that services closer to the people who need it would be a better choice. The person that uses the services only needs to go to one place in order to receive it, instead of two as before. However, the interviewees had not seen a considerable improvement in the services as expected. A considerable additional funds are needed for the affair. The transition from the state to the municipalities was not sufficiently prepared. The affairs of disabled people requires a lot of interdisciplinary work as well, which the interviewees thought was proceeding well.

One of the people who have the right to receive the zakâh mentioned in the eight aṣnâf is fî sabîlillah (people who are in a jihâd). Jihâd and all the means relating to it are the initial meaning agreed upon by most of ulama. The term fî sabîlillâh has been understood further in the context of the construction of places of worship and Islamic centers. This meaning expansion the term fî sabīlillah certainly needs to be seen in relation to maqâṣid al-syarî‘ah, especially in relation to ‘illat as one of the main instruments of maqâṣid al-syarî‘ah. The discussion by using ‘illat concluded that the development of the meaning of fî sabîlillâh to other than jihâd is permissible as long as it is intended to help individuals who struggle for the sake of the establishment of religion by financing their activities. Furthermore, this meaning is more in line with maqâṣid al-syarî‘ah.

Conventional library that only relies on human resources and resources information on paper or physical media cannot last much longer because of a very large information explosion. This is supported by the development and availability of global information infrastructure. Therefore the library must adjust to utilizing information technology in order to provide access to the widest possible information to users. Digital media are part of everyday life and have an intergenerational appeal, entering older people’s agendas, practices, and habits. Many people aged over 60 years lack adequate digital competences and media literacies to support learning, well-being, and participation in society, thus imposing a need to discuss older people’s willingness, opportunities, and abilities to use digital media. This study explored older people’s media use and repertoires, digital competences, and media literacies to promote media literacy education across all ages. The article discusses the data from 24 interviews with older people aged 65 to 98 years in Italy to answer the following research questions: What kinds of media repertoires emerge? What kinds of competences and media literacies can be described? What kinds of support and training do older people get and wish to receive? The analysis of the data produced four specific profiles concerning media repertoires: analogic, accidental, digital-instrumental, and hybridised users. Media literacy is still a critical framework, but the interviewees were open to opportunities to improve their competences. The use of digital media has received a strong boost due to the pandemic, as digital media have been the only way to get in touch with others and carry out their daily routine.

Game researchers are now moving from exploring if games can teach to how games teach. The caveat is that not all games teach but that all good games teach. Leaving a simple truth, it is hard to make a good game, no less a good game that is also educational. The real challenge is getting the people with the right design abilities to make these types of games and establish best practices and quantify what actually makes games as educational systems work. Efforts to move in that direction must begin with establishing terms and defining a framework for what goes into games for learning as formal systems.
