This study aims to reveal the innovation of modern pesantren education carried out by the Ta'mirul Islam Islamic boarding school based on the perspective of Imam Zarkasyi. The challenges of contemporary progress demand that Islamic boarding schools need to improve their education system, both in terms of institutions, curriculum and philosophy and goals. K.H Imam Zarkasyi is an educational figure who succeeded in laying the foundation of the pesantren education system, thus inspiring the Ta'mirul Islam Islamic boarding school to adopt its education system. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, in which data collection is carried out in several ways, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the Imam Zarkasyi education concept in the Ta'mirul Islam Islamic boarding school is carried out by integrating the Islamic education system and madrasah, integrating religious and general science, and cultivating the values of a life philosophy. In addition, the education system in Ta'mirul Islam can be used as a model for educational development in other pesantren.

the basic principles of Islamic boarding school education, namely; Al Muhafadhah ala al-qadim al shalih wa al akhdzu bi al jadid al ashlah. This principle has encouraged pesantren to maintain good old Islamic values without denying better changes. This paper intends to explore two sides of the coin for Pondok Persantren where one side is a distinct advantage for but can be a boomerang that hinders the progress of Islamic education based on understanding the basic elements and values of Islamic boarding schools and, then contributing thoughts in building a holistic Islamic boarding school education so that can follow the development of science without losing the obligation to maintain basic values. Holistic pesantren education can only be achieved if it is reaffirmed that the elements of the boarding school education system are not oriented towards learning religious knowledge but how kyai, teachers / ustaz and santri can learn to live in religion.

AbstractPesantren Nurussalam Ciamis is often associated with the movement of Abu Bakar Ba’asyir who was caught in Banjar in August 2010. Even in 2013, this Islamic boarding school is linked again with the arrest of terrorist Anton whois allegedly an alumnus of Nurussalam Islamic Boarding School. After the bombing of Thamrin on January 14, 2016, Nurussalam Islamic Boarding School is indicated by the National Agency for Combating Terrorism (BNPT) as one of radical Islamic boarding schools. The question is whether Nurussalam Islamic Boarding School is really a source of radicalism. To answer that question, wesee two aspects of Pesantren Nurussalam namely its education method and religious understanding. Through qualitative method, it is found that Pesantren Nurussalam education system generally refers to the national education system plus Islamic education system adopted from Gontor and Ngruki models. The educational system built is not separated from the religious understanding ofthe founders and managers who understand salaf, more precisely salaf puris cooperationis. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of reading the Qur'an using the sorogan method at the Al-Falah Lulut Islamic Boarding School, Bogor. The method used is a deductive qualitative analysis research, with a case study at the Al-Falah Lulut Islamic Boarding School. Data collection is done by conducting interviews, observations, documentation, and literature review. The data analysis used is qualitative analysis. The results of the study show: The results of learning to read the Qur'an using the sorogan method for categories level one, two, and three are quite effective, in the processEven the children like learning, but the application of the sorogan method is largely determined by the abilities and skills of the tutor, because the sorogan system in teaching is the most difficult system of the entire Islamic education system.

Abstract The “Ayo Mondok” Movement is part of the pesantren's response to modernity. In the modern era like this, there are still many Muslim societies in Indonesia that make pesantren a reference for formal and informal educational institutions. Indeed, initially the pesantren was only traditional and only aimed to explore the science of religion. However, along with the modernization of the times, Islamic boarding schools have not only become institutions to explore religious sciences but also general science. This paper explains the history and development of pesantren, and how the system of pesantren education answers the challenges of modernity. To get the desired results, the research library was chosen by researchers as the research method in this study. The results of this study reveal that Islamic boarding schools are a gathering place for santri to get religious knowledge from a cleric. The beginning of the pesantren was only a simple hut which was built as a makeshift with the aim of getting closer to the kyai or the teacher intended for the purposes of studying religion. While the system of pesantren education is still using the book of salaf or more familiarly called kitab kuning.   Keywords: Islamic Boarding School, Modernity and Islamic Education   Abstrak Gerakan Ayo Mondok merupkan bagian dari respon pesantren menghadapi modernitas. Di era modern seperti ini, masyarakat Muslim di Indonesia masih banyak yang menjadikan pesantren sebagai rujukan lembaga pendidikan formal maupun informal. Memang pada awalnya pesantren hanya bersifat tradisional dan hanya bertujuan untuk mendalami ilmu agama saja. Akan tetapi seiring dengan modernisasi zaman, pesantren tidak hanya menjadi lembaga untuk mendalami ilmu agama saja tetapi juga ilmu umum. Tulisan ini menjelaskan tentang sejarah dan perkembangan pesantren, dan bagaimana sistem pendidikan pesantren menjawab tantangan modernitas. Untuk mendapatkan hasil yang diinginkan, maka  library research dipilih oleh peneliti sebagai metode penelitian dalam studi ini. Hasil dari kajian ini mengungkapkan bahwa pesantren merupakan tempat berkumpulnya para santri untuk mendapatkan ilmu agama dari seorang kyai. Awal mula pesantren hanya berupa pondok sederhana yang dibangun seadanya dengan tujuan untuk mendekatkan diri kepada kyai atau guru yang dituju untuk keperluan menimba ilmu agama. Sedangkan sistem pendidikan pesantren sampai sekarang masih tetap menggunakan kitab salaf atau lebih familiar disebut kitab kuning.   Kata Kunci: Pesantren, Modernitas dan Pendidikan Islam

Then the Muyabaqah Qiraatul Pole (MQK) field, among others; champion of interpretation, balaghah, fiqh, ushul fiqh, mantek, ma’ani. Key words:

Pesantren as Islamic education institution have two main focuses in organizing their activities programs; first is the aspect of learning, and second is the aspect of Education. In the Learning aspect, the Santri gained cognitive knowledge from Kitab Kuning book, whereas the Santri obtained the affective and psychomotor aspects through the boarding education system. Where the Santri lives with his friends, teachers, and Kyai together in the scope of Pondok or dormitory. The purpose of writing this paper is to describe dormitory management with a managerial perspective. The conclusion is that the dormitory management concept, which includes planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling, has been carried out by boarding schools. Optimizing the management functions of the management of the dormitory will assist the board in achieving the main objectives of boarding school.

<p class="KEYWORD">Multicultural Education in Islamic Boarding Schools teaches tolerance and openness in carrying out activities of daily living. This research was conducted at the Bina Insan Mulia (BIMA) boarding school using descriptive qualitative methods, as well as data collection techniques by interviewing, observing, documenting studies, and FGDs. The conclusions of this study are: (1) The values of Multicultural Islamic Education implemented at the BIMA Islamic Boarding School are sourced from books / books taught to students / students such as the book of Hadith al-Arba'in Nawawiyah, Safinah al-Najah, Fath al-Qarib , Ta'lim al-Mutaa'llim, Taysir al-Khalaq, and Riyadh al-Saliheen; (2) The application of multicultural values includes openness, humanity, tolerance, mutual assistance, justice, equality, brotherhood.</p><p class="KEYWORD"> </p><p class="KEYWORD"><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p class="ABSTRACT">Pendidikan Multikultural di Pondok pesantren mengajarkan toleransi dan keterbukaan dalam melaksanakan aktifitas hidup sehari-hari. Nahdlatul Ulama is one of the largest mass organizations in Indonesia and is an organization to be reckoned with in Central Lombok. The existence of NU from the start has become one of the important platforms whose existence is still not widely known by the public in spreading and spreading Islam in Central Lombok through various means such as education, preaching and social activities through Islamic boarding schools. This dissertation intends to answer the history of Islamic education in Central Lombok by discussing more specifically and in detail the Growth and Development Historiography of the NU Islamic Boarding School in Central Lombok. This study aims to obtain data on the entry and establishment of NU in Central Lombok, the dynamics of the Central Lombok NU education system and the relevance of education in Central Lombok NU with today's education. This dissertation uses qualitative research methods with field research. The data obtained were analyzed by means of qualitative data analysis, starting from data preparation, data classification, new data processing, interpretation and conclusion. Data mining was carried out by means of documentation, observation, and interviews. The research process was carried out intensively for more than one year in 11 NU Islamic boarding schools in Central Lombok, using a purposive sampling technique. This dissertation describes the history of the establishment of Central Lombok NU which was founded in 1953 and its figures include TGH Faisal, Lalu Ofoh, and L. Burhan and was assisted by several other administrators. As well as knowing the existing education system in the Central Lombok NU Institute so far has similarities in the form of components of the education system such as: learning objectives, about teacher conditions, number of students, learning methods, the curriculum used and the process and evaluation method. The learning carried out by the Educational Institution under the management of the NU Lombok Tengah boarding school is still very relevant to today's education, this is done by increasing human resources through various education and training and by improving supporting facilities such as building improvements, procurement of laboratories and other facilities.

Nurhakim *)Fakultas Agama Islam UMMABSTRACTThe study described Imam Zarkasyi’s reconstruction thought about Islamic boarding schoolreformation. The study aimed at exploring Zarkasyi’s thought to be implemented as Islamiceducation reformation model for Islamic society modernization. The limitations of the study wereZarkasyi’s curriculum, empowerment on organizational management, and ethics training in Islamicboarding school. The finding revealed in three main points. First, Zarkasyi’s believed that IslamicEducation curriculum were to cover both religious principles, and modern sciences as well. Thus,the students were expected to master both Arabic and English. Second, organizational and charity(wakaf) management required significant improvement to strengthen Islamic boarding schoolinstitution in accordance to modern principles. Third, Islamic education boarding schools were toemphasize on values of sincerity, simplicity, independence, solidarity, and freedom to raise theawareness of the ethics in Islamic education schools.
