The spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) has brought various drastic changes to human life, one of which is the mode of learning that should be transformed into an online mode. However, the complexities of online learning leave some problems. Thus, this qualitative study aimed to investigate the online learning processes, problems, and the principal’s solutions at MA Muhammmadiyah Kampung Delima, Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu Province. The principal and five selected teachers were involved as the participants. The data were garnered from interviews and observations, and the data were further analyzed using an interactive model. The findings demonstrated that the school, in general, had implemented online learning processes based on the school and teachers’ existing and general competencies. However, there were some problems therein, including ineffective delivery of materials, inadequate technological facilities of students, students’ lack of discipline, and unstable internet networks. To overcome such problems, the principal arranged assistance from the government to benefit from online learning and actively encouraged teachers to establish communication with parents. As an implication, the curricular contents of teacher education in the Indonesian context should be more sensitive to the discourse of TPACK. Further studies are expected to work on the principal’s managerial role in online learning by involving the principles from various schools.

Access to the internet has allowed online learning to become widespread. However, online learning can be met with scepticism and is often seen as second best. This thesis examines experiences of several beginning teachers who completed their initial teacher education solely in the online mode. It sought to discover perceptions of their preparedness to teach in a face-to-face classroom. The methodological approach was a multiple case study underpinned by a constructivist paradigm. Nine beginning teachers volunteered to complete two surveys and seven agreed to be interviewed. Using inductive content analysis, three overarching themes emerged. Participants were in general agreement that the content covered in the online course was comprehensive and had prepared them well to begin teaching, though findings did indicate that the beginning teachers experienced a theory/practice divide between what was learnt from the online content and what they experienced in schools during practicum. Studying online had advantages and challenges, the major advantage being the flexibility online study affords, and the major challenge coping with the sense of isolation from peers. The beginning teachers were in a variety of contexts and received varying induction support. Those receiving little support encountered difficulties in managing students' behaviour and experienced falling efficacy, emphasising that effective induction is essential for beginning teachers to thrive and develop professionally. The findings from this research identified recommendations to improve the online initial teacher education learning experience. The links between the online programme and teaching practicum need strengthening so these parts of the programme align. Lecturers need to make full use of Web 2.0 tools to develop tasks that create learning communities and dispel the feeling of isolation. Further research into the relationship between induction support and efficacy needs to occur to see if this phenomenon is more widespread.

Indonesia confirmed the spread of Covid-19 since the beginning of March 2020. Until now, this virus has had an impact on almost all areas of life, not only health but also the economy, especially education. In the field of education, the government implements regulations regarding online learning systems or Distance Learning (PJJ) by means of Study From Home (Learning From Home). Online learning is a new thing for educational institutions. Many obstacles that occur include the teacher still having difficulty in determining the use of appropriate media for international learning. Another obstacle is the lack of parental assistance. Therefore, the authors conducted online learning assistance for SD / MI students using interactive learning media. Researchers used mentoring strategies and the methods used were online and offline methods. The result of the mentoring process using interactive learning media is the increased interest, motivation and achievement of students and this is an ineffective solution to online learning problems. There are many factors in the implementation of online learning assistance for SD / MI students in Guci village, both supporters and obstacles. Among the supporting factors are the talents, high interest and motivation of students, family support, school, community. The inhibiting factors are the lack of facilities or infrastructure used for learning both online and face-to-face, the lack of discipline of students during face-to-face mentoring, lack of discipline in using masks, and so on.

This study aimed to depict parents’ perceptions of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MOEC) circular about learning from home during Covid-19 pandemic through a case study in Air Bening Village, Dusun III. This was a field study using a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were collected through interviews, observations and documentation for the sake of garnering the data concerning relevant matters. The results of this study demonstrated that parents' perceptions indicated that MOEC circular about learning at home during the Covid-19 pandemic period was felt to be not running effectively and efficiently. It was because in teaching and learning processes parents turned into a teacher who had to be able to master various learning materials. In the meantime, parents did not understand the materials and contents of their children’s assignments due to their low educational backgrounds. Parents complained about online learning implemented by schools because they lacked the mastery of the facilities available on Android, except only for communicating or accessing photos. Even, some were still unable to use Android properly. In addition, internet networks were inadequate, and students or children played more than learned so that during this pandemic students only learned when they had assignments from the teacher. The rest of their time was not used to rehearse the subject matters.
