The issue of spending free time in an educational environment in the health perspective is an important subject of interest for many researchers, including educators, psychologists, sociologists and doctors. This topic is particularly timely and important due to socio-cultural changes and disturbing data on public health from a global perspective, which results show that as many as 70 percent of students do not participate in regular physical activity (Haase et al., 2004; Gordon-Larsen et al 2004, Roberts et al. 2015). The aim of this article is to show how students spend their free time in the perspective of promoting healthy lifestyle of the University of Oxford

A sedentary lifestyle has associated with the work of a lecturer. A sedentary lifestyle is one of the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) causes. This study aims to explore physical Activity Patterns in Lecturers during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This study used qualitative research from July to September 2020. Interviews were conducted with sixteen lecturers is divided into two groups. The data collection was through in-depth interview techniques by telephone. Participants were determined by purposive sampling. The number of participants is seventeen. The analyzing data process through transcripts, coding, and determining themes was performed using In-Vivo software. Credibility criteria and triangulation is done to ensure valid data. The results of this study show that the desired pattern of physical activity is to use free time, even though they have difficulty managing time and lack motivation. There is a need for health policy at the university to apply a healthy lifestyle, such as walking between buildings, using stairs, doing independent exercise between working hours, procuring bicycles for transportation between buildings, and maximizing sports facilities management. Conclusion: The physical activity pattern of lecturers mostly utilizes the free time to walk between buildings, go to mosques, and long distances parking to the premises in the university environment.

Regular physical activity is a very important factor in the healthy development of an individual and an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. However, today's population still suffers from insufficient amount of exercise caused mainly by technical progress and often inappropriate conditions for practicing sports. In relation to this, we are grappling with a steady increase in obesity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, conditions for regular physical activity became even more unfavourable, with the declaration of a state of emergency and anti-pandemic measures leading to the closure of sports grounds and sporting competitions. In our research survey, we attempted to determine whether there would be changes in physical activity and BMI before and after the situation caused by the COVID-19 disease in upper primary school pupils in the Czech Republic. Using a questionnaire survey of a sample of children (n =1456), we found that already before the pandemic, 69% of the observed sample had not met the recommended amount of physical activity and only 67% of the sample was of normal weight. After the end of the anti-pandemic measures, the observed values deteriorated even more. There was a significant decrease in children with normal weight (by 7.5%) and an increase in children with Class 1 obesity. At the same time, we saw a significant decrease in children doing sports.

Abstract Background Nowadays millions of students are moving to another country to advance their education. They must adapt to the changing conditions for education. Students who leave their own country face many challenges. The purpose of the study was to investigate and evaluate the nutrition and physical activity of foreign students of the University of Georgia (UG) after entering the university. Methods Cross-sectional study was conducted among international students. We used self-administrated validated questionnaire with closed and open questions. Behaviors regarding the physical activity, diet of foreign and Georgian students were identified. Local students of the UG were used as a comparison group. Study participants were selected randomly among all international and Georgian students of UG. Results The results of the study showed that stress factors, the environment and various cultures influence students' nutrition and physical activity. A noticeable change in the deterioration of physical activity was observed among Georgian and foreign students (8% of international students physical activity has deteriorated sharply). The students showed a significant changes of body mass index (BMI). Meanwhile, most international students are overweight. 10 % of international students are facing obesity. Weight of Georgian students increased by 32 % after entering the University, while international students it increased by 30 %. The results showed that the nutritional ratio worsened after entering at the university almost equally with both Georgian and foreign students. However, the study identified that 56% of Georgian, and 86% of international students are willing to improve their physical activity in the future. Conclusions The study identified that international students of the UG face nutrition and healthy lifestyle problems, such as overweight, physical inactivity. Further promotion of a healthy lifestyle of international students is recommended. Key messages More attention on health promotion and monitoring should be given to international students who are coming to advance their education in Georgia. More research is recommended to better promote healthy lifestyle among international students in Georgia.

AbstractIntroduction. Nurses need to encourage patients to lead a healthy lifestyle, hence it is important that as nursing students they are already aware of the importance of physical activity. The purpose of the study was to investigate the physical activities of nursing students.Aim. The aim of the study was to find out in what state physical activity of nursing students is and to find out what are their main reasons for lack of physical activity.Material and methods. We conducted a cross-sectional observational study using a mixed methods design. The quantitative data was collected using the survey method with a convenience sample of 123 students and used descriptive and inferential statistics for the analysis. For the qualitative data we used a Grounded Theory Method with semi-structured interviews on purposive samples of four students. Results and conclusions. In the quantitative part of this study we found a significantly higher proportion of outdoor physical activity in comparison to indoor physical activity (p < 0.001). The qualitative part contains the main categories of physical activity implementation, as well as three sub-categories: attitude to physical activity, barriers and incentives. Nursing students do not do physical activities regularly due to lack of time, obligations at the university, time of the year and finances.

AbstractThe objective of the study was to examine the level of perceived stress among the final year students in the full-time Master’s programme at the Department of Physiotherapy of the University School of Physical Education in Wroclaw, and to identify the factors correlating with stress. The study involved 54 students. The participants were 23 to 28 years of age, 44 of them were women, and 10 men. The level of stress and related factors were evaluated using the Perceived Stress Questionnaire (KPS - Kwestionariusz Poczucia Stresu) created by Mieczysław Plopa and Ryszard Makarowski, and a short questionnaire prepared by the authors of the study, containing questions about the students’ age, gender, physical activity, financial situation, gainful employment, mode of studies, hometown, having a close friend or relative, plans for the future and satisfaction with the studies.Regular physical activity is a factor that positively affects the level of students’ perceived stress. A lower level of perceived stress was also associated with the respondents’ rating of their financial situation as good. The overall mean stress score obtained by the surveyed students is indicative of low stress severity. In the majority of cases, the respondents reported an average level of emotional strain and a low level of external and internal stress. The mean values of overall scores on the stress scale and its subscales were higher for women than for men. However, due to the size of the sample group, the differences cannot be seen as statistically significant.Regular physical activity and good financial situation impact on reducing the level of perceived stress.

Despite the growing interest in health and the abundance of health-promoting programs and campaigns, there is a noticeable lack of such undertakings at colleges and universities. This is worrisome, considering the fact that the first-year of studies is the last phase of education in which it is possible to promote and establish a healthy lifestyle. The purpose of the research was to evaluate the health attitudes and behaviours of first-year university students. A total of 700 first-year male students aged 19-20 attending the University of Warmia & Mazury in Olsztyn (Poland) took part in the study by filling out anonymous questionnaires concerning health behaviours and attitudes regarding physical activity, nutrition, tobacco and alcohol use, stress and pro-health activities. The results indicate that physical activity of the respondents was limited to participation in the obligatory physical education classes during high school and while at university. Moreover, the students were concerned more about personal hygiene and appearance than physical fitness and proper nutrition. The majority of them did not have a regular schedule of meals and did not take vitamin supplements. The percentage of respondents who declared drinking alcohol regularly (once a week) and even every day is quite worrisome. One out of ten students reported losing consciousness multiple times as a result of binge drinking and over a third blacked out at least once during the first few months of their studies. Although only a small margin of the students surveyed can be considered to be addicted to smoking, nearly half of them admitted to smoking occasionally. Although a significant portion of students expressed a fear in stress generating situations during their studies, the majority possessed a very limited knowledge of stress coping methods. The research results indicate a clear need to implement adequate health promoting programs at the university level of education to help counteract the observed negative tendencies. Key words: university male students, health attitudes and habits, physical activity, nutrition, tobacco/alcohol use, stress, pro-health activities.

Abstract. Lifestyles are everyday behaviors that show an individual's way of life and are usually maintained over time. The university stage is an important period to establish healthy habits for the rest of life. The objective of the study was to determine the lifestyles of university students and the differences according to sex and socioeconomic status. A cross-sectional study was carried out in 508 university students to whom a self-administered survey was applied on their sociodemographic conditions, while their lifestyles were evaluated using the PEVP-II questionnaire. It was observed that only 24.02% of the sample frequently controlled the levels of sugars and fats, 21.85%, in their diet; more than 20% do not perform physical activity, between 20 and 30% do not regulate sugars or include fruits and vegetables in their diets; the averages lower than 60% in the associated factors contemplated in the study, infer that the respondents do not maintain a healthy lifestyle. Finally, it is concluded that low levels of physical activity practice and the presence of habits considered risky in the nutritional dimension, may be related to lifestyles, making this identification in the university environment can help decision-making for design of intervention strategies supported in the well-being of students.

AbstractIntroduction:Globalisation and modern lifestyles are contributing to different public health problems, especially in early age. Objectives:To present the result of family questionnaires regarding the parental perception of physical activity in children and to discuss the importance of findings compared to overweight and obesity rates in this population group.Methodology:In Montenegro Childhood obesity surveillance initiative (COSI) including 7 years old school children was conducted for the first time in 2016 in accordance with WHO protocol. In total 3581 children were examined and 3162 family questionnaires collected. We analyzed a part of the family questionnaires dealing with children free time in correlation with the results of anthropometric measurements. Results:In working days, according to the parents' claims, around 73% of children spend more than an hour playing outside, while at weekends that number is around 95%. Spending free time in front of the screen longer than 4 hours is bigger at weekends comparing to working days 14%:4%. The results of anthropometric measurement show that around 1/5 of boys and girls are overweighed and around over 1/5 of boys and 1/10 are obese. Conclusion:Parental perception of physical activity level among children is one of the key factors that could influence children growth and development into healthy, resilient adults. Public health approach in strengthening this perception is rising awareness of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of parents regarding the connection between physical activity, free time and overweight and obesity rates in their children.
