The zakat on business is one of the main contributors to the zakat collection in Kedah. Despite the increasing number of Muslim entrepreneurs, the total collection for the zakat on business has yet to reach the target. The efficiency of the zakat collection mechanism is among the factors that influence the proceeds of zakat. Accordingly, this paper is aimed at exploring the implementation of proactive mechanisms to intensify the zakat collection by the Kedah State Zakat Board (LZNK). This study applied a qualitative approach, in which the data were collected through interviews using structured interview protocol and document analysis. The findings showed that there were various proactive mechanisms practiced by LZNK. These include a campaign to visit business complexes and premises to reach out to those Muslim entrepreneurs even during outside office hours, the development of innovative zakat collection mechanism using information technology such as the online zakat payment platform, frequent promotions, and appeals in social media, the offering of a refund-distribution mechanism to corporate payers, implementing high impact projects and zakat aid schemes, as well as indirect zakat plea through various channels. The implementation of proactive mechanisms has successfully contributed to the increase of zakat collection on business although it has yet to reach the target collection. Gayo customs emphasizes the values of mutual cooperation and religiosity. The ritual of "sintê môrep” illustrates this reality. However, consumerism has threatened an identity and social integration, such as at wedding receptions. This study employs a qualitative approach to explore the changing process of the kenduri "sintê mungêrjê" into a party culture in wedding receptions at the Gayo Lôt community. The study reveals reification  has encouraged changes in the meaning of Gayo traditions. The shift occurred from the denotative level to the connotative level. The consumption culture of weddings developed as a design of consumerization by wedding organizer in Central Aceh Districtand was supported by party simulations through television and social media. Simulacrum works because Gayonese prefer tocall "party" to "sintê mungêrjê" (the local term). The party culture was triggered by the weakening of the village structure supported by degradation of understanding of the Gayo customs, the Gayo language that hasgradually been abandoned by native speakers, urban development, information technology, the strengthening of money logic, the changing in the type of work from agrarian to formal, and cultural assimilation and acculturation.

An emerging global trend of brands advertising their products through LGBTIQ+ individuals and couples indicates growth of gender awareness across the globe. The media, through advertising, deconstructs homophobia and associated cultures through the use of LGBTIQ+s in commercials. This qualitative research paper centres the advancement of debates on human rights and social media as critical in the interaction between corporates and consumers. The Gillette, Chicken Licken‘s Soul Sisters and We the Brave advertisements were used to critically analyse how audiences react to the use of LGBTIQ+ characters and casts through comments posted on the brands‘ social media platforms.
