ABSTRACT Kumis Kucing Leaves (Orthosiphon aristatus (Blume) Miq.) contains flavonoid compounds that has antioxidants activity that inhibits the action of the enzyme xanthine oxidase with reduced uric acid as result. This research is done to find out the effects antihyperuricemia ethanol extract of Kumis Kucing leaves on male white rat (Rattus norvegicus). 15 rats were used in this research and there were 5 treatment groups that is negative control (NACMC 1%), positive control (Allopurinol) 1,8 mg, and Kumis Kucing leaves extract group with dosage of 4,5 mg, 9 mg, 18 mg. The result of this research showed a decrease on uric acid value after ethanol extract of Kumis Kucing leave were given. The next result of this research used ANOVA test and LSD test, that showed the ethanol extract of Kumis Kucing leave had Antihyperuricemia activity on male white rat.Keywords:  Orthosiphon aristatus (Blume.) Miq., Antihyperuricemia, Rattus norvegicus.   ABSTRAK Daun kumis kucing (Orthosiphon aristatus (Blume) Miq.) mengandung senyawa flavonoid yang mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan yang dapat menghambat kerja enzim xantin oksidase sehingga pembentukan asam urat berkurang. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui efek antihiperurisemia ekstrak etanol daun kumis kucing, terhadap tikus putih jantan (Rattus norvegicus). Penelitian ini menggunakan 15 ekor tikus dan terdapat 5 kelompok perlakuan yaitu kontrol negatif (NaCMC 1%), kontrol positif (Allopurinol) 1,8 mg, dan kelompok ekstrak daun kumis kucing dengan dosis 4,5 mg, 9 mg, 18 mg. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai asam urat mengalami penurunan setelah diberikan ekstrak etanol daun kumis kucing. Hasil penelitian selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan uji ANOVA dan uji LSD, menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun kumis kucing memiliki aktivitas antihiperurisemia terhadap tikus putih jantan. Kata kunci: Orthosiphon aristatus (Blume.) The snake fruit peel (Salacca zalacca (Gaertn.) Voss) traditionally has several health benefits, one of which is to treat diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to determine the content of secondary metabolites in the ethanolic extract of snake fruit peel and its activity on glucose and urea creatinine levels in male white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Phytochemical screening of extracts was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. This study is a laboratory experimental study using 30 test animals divided into 6 treatment groups (normal control, negative control, positive control, 70 mg/kg BW, 140 mg/kg BW, and 280 mg/kg BW). The results showed that the ethanol extract of the bark of the salak fruit contained 7.61 %w/w alkaloids, flavonoids 0.041% w/w, tannins 1.18% w/w, and saponins 2% w/w. Ethanol extract of salak fruit peel dose of 140 mg/kg BW affected decreasing blood glucose and urea creatinine levels. The skin of the salak fruit has the potential to be further investigated as an antidiabetic.

Kersen leaf (Muntingia calabura L.) contains tannins, flavonoids and polyphenol compounds allegedly have analgesic effect. The objective was to determine the analgesic effect of ethanol extract of kersen leaves and to determine the most effective analgesic dose. This study was an experimental research. Leaves were extracted with ethanol 70% and the analgesic effect test was divided into 5 groups: negative control treatment (distilled water), positive control (mefenamic acid 2.6mg/kg), kersen leaf ethanol extract first dose (100mg/kg), second dose (200mg/kg) and tthird dose (400mg/kg). Giving treatments by oral, after 30 minutes, the mices were given a pain inductor with 0.5% acetic acid by intra peritonial administration. Analgesic power was calculated by counting the number of writhing in mice for 1 hour. The results showed that the ethanol extract of cherry leaf has analgesic effect. From the calculation of the first dose analgesic power (42.9%), second dose (59.4%) and the third dose 69.9%. Statistical test results kruskal wallis value of p=0.011 (p<0.05) showed a significant difference between all analgesic treatment groups. The conclusion of this study is all of the ethanol extract had analgesic effects on male white mice, whereas a dose of 400mg/kg is the most effective analgesic dose.

ABSTRACT Gotu Kola Leaf (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) are known to contain flavonoid compound, and flavonoid are known to decrease blood glucose level by stimulating pancreas beta cells to produce insulin. The aim of this research is to find out wether the ethanol extract of gotu kola leaf (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) has the antidiabetic effectiveness or not. This research used Completely Randomized Design method. There were 15 rats used in this research that were split into 5 groups that is negative control (Aquadest), positive control (Metformin), and ethanol extract of gotu kola leaf with the dosage of 5.4 mg;10.8 mg;21.6 mg. The acquired data were analyzed with ANOVA test and LSD test. The analysis result showed that ethanol extract of gotu kola leaf had antidiabetic effectiveness against male white rat. Keywords:  Centella asiatica (L.) Tikus yang digunakan sebanyak 15 ekor dan dibagi dalam 5 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif (aquadest), kontrol positif (metformin), dan ekstrak etanol daun pegagan dengan dosis 5,4 mg; 10,8 mg; 21,6 mg. Data yang ada dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA dan uji LSD. Hasil analisis menujukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun pegagan memiliki efektivitas antidiabetes terhadap tikus putih jantan (Rattus norvegicus). Kata kunci: Centella asiatica (L.) Antidiabetic activity of Vernonia amygdalina and its possible synergism with glibenclamide was checked. Forty eight rats were used for the research, for hypoglycermic study of V. amygdalina alone, they were grouped into five of six rats each. Group 1 was the negative control and was administered distilled water orally. Groups 2, 3, and 4 were the treatment groups which received 100, 200 and 300 mg/kg body weight of the V. amygdalina extract respectively orally by intubation. Group 5 was the positive control group which received a known antidiabetic drug, glibenclamide. Diabetes was induced with alloxan. For the synergism study, another 18 rats grouped into 3 of six rats each was used. Both groups of glibenclamide only and glibenclamide plus V. amygdalina extract were dosed for 14 days orally by intubation, thereafter were sacrificed and blood collected from heart for analysis. There were 5 replicates grouped by weight throughout the study and both single and synergistic studies had the same controls. Effect of V. amygdalina extract was checked on blood glucose and its possible synergism with glibenclamide. All results in treatment groups were compared with the normal control at statistical confidence of p<0.05. Result shows that V. amygdalina extract reduced blood glucose level in the test groups as dose of extract increased. Combination of V. amygdalina with glibenclamide demonstrated further deduction in blood glucose levels in the treatment rats groups. Therefore addition of V. amygdalina into glibenclamide increased efficacy in the diabetic rats. The interaction between V. amygdalina and glibenclamide in this work was additive and therefore synergistic.

African Leaf and palm leaf crops have a secondary metabolite content such as alkaloids and flavonoids that are efficacious as diuretics. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of diuretics from the combination  African leaf ethanol extract and palm leaf ethanol extract. Methods used Eksperiemental. The test of diuretic activity is conducted divided into 6 treatment groups. Each group consists of 3 tails of white rats. Group 1 (positive control) administered Furosemide 3.6 mg/kgBB, Group 2 (negative control) was given suspension Na-CMC 0.5%, group 3 without treatment as well as groups of 4.5, and 6 in a row administered a combination of African leaf extract doses and extracts Oil palm leaf ethanol in a row of "50 mg/kgBB + 67, 5mg/kgBB"; "100mg/kgBB + 135 mg/kgBB"; and "200 mg/kgBB + 270 mg/kgBB". Each mouse is then given a 20ml NaCl/kgBB as an oral loading dose. Measured urine volume is recorded every hour for 6 hours after it continues to measure urine volume. The results showed that the combination of African leaf ethanol extract dosage and palm leaf ethanol extract had a diuretic effect if it was compared with negative control. The conclusion of the study was the results of the study showed that the combination of African leaf extract dosage and palm leaf extract is the most effective dose of Group 6 (African leaf extract 200 mg/kgBB + palm leaves 270 mg/kgBB ). Because it produces the highest urine volume of 23.01 ml.

Jawa bark (Lannea coromandelica) is a part of the plant that can be used empirically for handling wounds. This study aims to determine the activity of ethanol extract of Jawa bark on healing wound and determine the effective dose compared with povidone iodine. The test animals used were white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) consisting of 5 groups, namely negative control (vaseline without extract), positive control (povidone iodine), dose of 250 mg/kg BW, dose of 500 mg/kg BW, dose of 750 mg/kg BW. Each rat made an incision in the area parallel to the spine with 2 cm long and 2 mm deep. Measuring the length of the wound was done every day for 14 days. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using One Way Anova and followed by Post Hoc Duncan test. Statistical results showed that the ethanol extract of Jawa bark has an activity in curing slice where the effective dose is a dose of 500 mg/kg BW with a wound healing time of 12 days.

AbstractBackgroundPhytoestrogens have a high potential to overcome the neuroinflammation caused by estrogen deficiency. Marsilea crenata Presl. is a plant known to contain phytoestrogens. This research aimed to report the activity of a 96% ethanol extract of M. crenata leaves in inducing activation of microglia HMC3 cell to M2 polarity, which has anti-inflammatory characteristics.MethodsThe study was done by culturing microglia HMC3 cell in 24-well microplate and inducing it with IFN-γ for 24 h to activate the cell to M1 polarity, which has proinflammatory characteristics. The 96% ethanol extract was added with various doses of 62.5, 125, and 250 ppm. Genistein, 50 μM, was used as a positive control. The analysis of the immunofluorescence of Arginase-1 (Arg1) and ERβ as markers was done using a convocal laser scanning microscope.ResultsThe result of Arg1 shows a significant difference in Arg1 expression in the microglia HMC3 cell line between the negative control and all treatment groups at p < 0.05, with the best result at 250 ppm, whereas for ERβ, the results show, at doses of 125 and 250 ppm, that the 96% ethanol extract of M. crenata leaves decrease the activated ERβ expression at p < 0.05, with the best result at 250 ppm. The Arg1 and activated ERβ expression have a weak negative relationship with the Pearson correlation test.ConclusionsThe 96% ethanol extract of M. crenata leaves has an antineuroinflammation activity through the induction of Arg1 and activated ERβ expression in microglia HMC3 cell, with the best dose at 250 ppm.

This study aims to determine the potential for glucose levels in the blood of ethanol extracts of the begonias (Begonia Sp.), the effect of the extract on the pancreatic histopathology of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) which was induced by streptozotocin, and the effective dose begonias’ extract leaves on the histopathological descriptions of pancreatic male white rats. This study was an experimental laboratory where the research group consisted of group I (the control group) as a normal control was given a standard feed, group II (negative control) was given a 0.5% Na CMC suspension, group III (positive control) was orally given glibenclamide and experimental groups IV, V, and VI (doses 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg BW). Were given ethanol extract of begonias leaves. The results showed that the ethanol extract of the begonias (Begonia Sp.) contained secondary metabolite compounds, namely flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, polyphenols, and tannins. Ethanol extract of begonias leaves at adose of 50 mg/kg BW was an affective dose in reducing blood glucoselevels by an avarage of 101,8 mg/dL) and a dose of 50 mg/kg BW can affect the histopathological picture of the pancreas in STZ induuced rats with an average damage value of 2 from a maximum of 4.

Tempuyung (Sonchus arvensis) and salam (Syzygium polyanthum) leaves can lower uric acid levels were studied. The purpose of this research was to determine mechanism of combined o f tempuyung and salam extracts to reduce uric acid levels by inhibiting xanthine oxidase in hyperuricemic mice. This research used completely randomized design using mice. Fifteen mice were made hiperuricemic by 250 mg/kgBW potassium oxonate p.o then the mice were divided into 3 groups. Group I induced 10 mg/kgBW allopurinol p.o as positive control, group II induced tempuyung-salam p.o each 100 mg/kgBW as the treatment group, group th III induced 0.5 mL/20 gBW distilled water p.o as negative control. Liver was taken 4 day after 2 hours induced potassium oxonate. Data inhibition xanthine oxidase activity was tested with Mann-Whitney. The result showed that the combination of tempuyung-salam extract each 100 mg/kgBW could inhibit xanthine oxidase activity of 51,16%±2,76%, while allopurinol 90,20%±0,16% (p = 0.000).Keyword: Hyperuricemia, Xanthine Oxidase, Sonchus arvensis, Syzygium polyanthum

Hyperuricemia is a disease caused by an increase in uric acid levels in the blood. Currently, various treatments are developed by utilizing natural ingredients as an anti-hyperuricemia. Sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack) is one of the plants that contain a natural compound that can use as an anti-hyperuricemia treatment is the leaves of sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack.). The aim of this study to determine the anti-hyperuricemia activity of the ethanol extract of Sungkai leaves. The test animals used in this study were male white mice Wistar strain. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 groups consisting of negative control (Na CMC 0.5%) positive control (allopurinol 10 mg / kg BW), treatment 1 (extract 125 mg / kg BW), treatment 2 (extract 250 mg / kg BW) and treatment 3 (extract 500 mg / kg BW). The parameters seen were uric acid levels measured using the POCT (Point of Care Test) method and analyzed using One Way Anova statistical analysis and Duncan's continued test. Our results showed that the treatment group with a dose of 125-500 mg / Kg BW reduce uric acid levels in mice. The best dose was a dose of 500 mg / Kg BW in reducing uric acid levels in mice with percent decline of 38.66%.
