This study aimed to determine the effect of ovaprim hormone, aromatase inhibitor and pituitary on the quality of the catfish eggs (Clarias gariepinus). Experimental Design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments, each with three replications. Treatment A: ovaprim; treatment B: Aromatase inhibitors, treatment C: hypophysis and treatment D: Control. The results showed that the difference in treatment gave highly significant effect on fertilization and hatching eggs but no significant effect on the survival rate of larvae. Aromatase inhibitor hormone was the best because it provided highly significant effect on fertilization (92.66%), hatchability of eggs (95%), and surviva rate (81.33%) of fish larvae.   Keywords : Clarias gariepinus. ABSTRACT The use of extract root ginseng in the process of Betta fish masculinization is expected to increase the testosterone. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect ginseng root extract to the percentage of the male betta fish by masculinization. This study has been conducted at the Basic Aquaculture Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study use a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments in this research was betta fish larvae aged 7 days that submersed on ginseng root extract media with different concentration for 8 hours. The treatment were the addition of ginseng root extract as much as 1 mg/L (P1), 2 mg/L (P2), 3 mg/L (P3), 4 mg/L (P4) and without ginseng root extract addition as control (P0). Parameters observed consist of percentage of betta fish male, survival rate and quality of water. The result of this research shows that the addition of extract panax ginseng with difference concentration has significant effect to male betta fish percentage, but there is no a significant effect on survival rate. Treatment P3 with concentration 3 mg/L is the best result, it produced 95.05% of male betta fish after immersion for 8 hours. Keywords : Betta fish, Ginseng root extract, Immersion, Masculinization

The aim of this study was determine the effect of temperature shock on hatching capability of the catfish eggs and its larval survivals.The study was conducted at the Board of Freshwater Aquaculture (BBAT ) in Tatelu  Dimembe District, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province. Twelve tanks were set in this experiment. Two hundred (200) eggs were put in each tank with controlled temperature of 25 C, 27 C , 29 C , and 32 ºC. Each temperature was replicated 3 times. The experimental design used in data analysis was completely randomized design (CRD).  The results showed that the treatment temperature showed significant effect on  hatching of  eggs, while the difference in temperature had no effect on the survival rate of catfish larvae.   Keywords:  Temperature shock, eggs, hatching capability, survival rate,  larvae, Clarias gariepinus.

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of natural honey to the percentage of the male betta fish by masculinization. This study has been conducted at the Aquaculture Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study use a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment in this research was betta fish larvae aged 5 days that submersed on natural honey media with different concentration for 12 hours. The treatment were the addition of natural honey as much as 4 ml/L (P1), 5 ml/L (P2), 6 ml/L (P3), 7 ml/L (P4) and without natural honey addition as control (P0). Parameters observed consist of percentage of betta fish male, survival rate and quality of water. The result of this research shows that the addition of natural honey with difference concentration has significant effect to male betta fish percentage. The semah fish (Tor douronensis) is an Indonesian endemic fish that has a long growth, which takes 4 years to grow from larvae to broodstock. This study aims know of Daphnia sp. pelet fed with effective doses to increase the growth of semah’s fish larvae. The study was conducted from March 25 to April 13, 2020 at the Instalasi Riset Plasma Nutfah, Cijeruk, Bogor, West Java. The experimental design used completely randomized design (CRD) 4 treatments and 3 replications, namely treatment A (Daphnia sp.+pelet feed 0 gr/ L), treatment B (Daphnia sp.+ pelet feed 1 gr / L), treatment C (Daphnia sp. + pelet feed 2 gr / L), treatment D (Daphnia sp. + pelet feed 3 gr / L). The larvae of 9 days in age were randomly stocked into 12 aquariums measuring 60x30x35 cm with a density of 50 fish/aquarium and fed in the form of Daphnia sp. enriched pelet feed according to the treatment of 50 ind/larvae by giving 3 times a day which is maintained for 20 days. The test parameters measured are absolute growth in length and weight, survival rate, and water quality. Based on the results of statistical analysis (Anova), the results showed that the treatment D gave the highest influence on the growth of semah’s fish larvae (P <0.05) with an absolute weight growth value of 85,3 mg, absolute length growth of 10.6 mm, and survival rate 99.33%.

The purpose of this research was to obtain a dose of vitamin E-selenium addition in feed on the quality of hatched eggs resulting from crossing Sentul chicken with laying hens. This research used 200 hatching eggs produced from the 34-week-old Isa Brown strain of laying hens which were treated and inseminated using Sentul chicken males. The experimental method used in this research was a completely randomized design CRD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications with each replication consisting of 8 hatching eggs. The treatments feed in this research were as follows: P0 = Basal Feed, P1 = Basal Feed + 21.75 ppm vitamin E and 0.23 ppm selenium, P2 = Basal Feed + 43.5 ppm vitamin E and 0.46 ppm selenium, P3 = Basal Feed + 65.25 ppm vitamin E and 0.69 ppm selenium, P4 = Basal Feed + 87 ppm vitamin E and 0.92 ppm selenium. The results of this research were that the addition of vitamin E-selenium levels in feed had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the weight of hatching eggs, fertility, embryo mortality and hatchability.  Keywords: Vitamin E-Selenium Level, Feed, Hatching Eggs, Sentul Chicken ,Laying Hens

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the ratio of gatot and red beans usage on water content and organoleptic characteristics from "Gatotkaca" analog rice. The material in this study was gatot (fermented cassava) and red beans. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. This study consisted of 4 different analog rice formulations, namely T1 (90% gatot: 10% red beans); T2 (85% gatot: 15% red beans); T3 (80% gatot: 20% red beans); T4 (75% gatot: 25% red beans). Data were analysed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with the significance level 5%. The results showed that the difference in the ratio of the usage of gatot but red beans didn’t have a significant effect (p>0.05) on the water content and organoleptic characteristics. Treatment with a ratio of gatot and 85% red beans  15% gatot was the best treatment.

This research was conducted from August to December 2016 at the PEM Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Sciences State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau and Central Plantation Service Laboratory. The study aims to 1). Analyzing the chemical and organoleptic qualites of Oil Palm Empty Bunches organic fertilizer with the addition of different EM-4 doses 2). Determine the best quality on the quality of Oil Palm Empty Bunches organic fertilizer. The experimental design was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and three replications. The treatment were application of (EM4) consist of 0 ml, 5 ml, 10 ml, 15 ml, 20 ml, and 25 ml. Results analysis using ANOVA variance, simple linear regression and validity and reliability analysis. The results showed that the addition of EM-4 resulted in quality in accordance with SNI 19-7030-2004 with the dose of 5 ml, 10 ml, and 15 ml, respectively, but on the measurement of fertilizer pH organic Oil Palm Empty Bunches does not meet SNI: 19-7030-2004.

Jelly candy is a favorite snack of various ages from children to adults because it has an attractive color, delicious aroma and taste, and a chewy texture. In this study, papaya juice (Carica papaya L.) was used as a base ingredient for making jelly candy because papaya is a fruit that is very easy to find and has a relatively cheap price. In order to improve the quality of the papaya jelly candy, roselle calyx extract (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) was also added. Roselle calyx has been known to have high antioxidants because they contain anthocyanin pigments. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in the addition of roselle calyx extract to the papaya jelly candy. The experimental design in this study was a completely randomized design with variations in the addition of roselle calyx extract by 0% (control), 15%, 30%, and 45%. The parameters tested in this study include chemical, physical, microbiological, and organoleptic qualities. The results of the research that have been carried out show the addition of 45% roselle calyx extract can produce the best papaya jelly candy based on water content, total titrated acid, antioxidant activity, total anthocyanin, texture, color, and microbiological tests which include total plate count and numbers of yeast molds. Abstract Currently, African catfish is developing quite rapidly, because African catfish is one of the important commodities in the fishery. Efforts to increase the production of African catfish is to improve the quality of feed. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the use of shark waste mill on the growth rate, feed efficiency and survival rate of African catfish fishing. The research method was experimental with completely randomized design (CRD). The research consisted of five treatments and four replications. The treatments used were: (A) shark waste mill at 0% and fish mill by 50%, (B) 5% shark waste mill and 45% fish mill, (C) 10% waste shark mill and 40% fish mill, (D) 15% waste shark mill and fish mill and 35% (E) 20% shark waste mill and 30% fish mill. The main parameters measured were growth, feed efficiency and survival rate. Supporting parameters measured were water quality. Analysis of the data using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and to determine the differences between treatments tested by Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the giving of shark waste mil on ration had highly different effects on growth rate and feed eficiency of african catfish. The feeding of waste shark mill in ration had no significantly different effect on Survival Rate (SR). The best dose of shark waste mill is treatment C (10%) with growth rate (1,26%/day), feed eficiency (38,64%) and survival rate (55%).
