Background: The study of the history of mathematics teaching can be approached from different perspectives, defining contours from which the researcher performs the analysis focused on a process characterised by continuity, or by adopting periodisation. Objective: In this article, we seek to conduct a study based on the delimitation of periods, according to Le Goff’s (2014) argument, and in the light of the depth hermeneutics, based on Thompson (2011). Design: Given the premises above, we conducted a documentary analysis of two historical processes within the scope of mathematics teaching, one focusing on the municipal public schools of Canoas, and the other on a technical course in chemistry of a school in the city of Novo Hamburgo, both in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Setting and participants: A timeline with conspicuous events used to periodicise both historical processes analysed by the authors. Data collection and analysis: Analysis of documents relevant to the history of the technical school investigated and education in the municipality of Canoas. Results:  In both cases, it was possible to characterise the historical processes in periods based on events and official documents that generate changes in mathematics teaching. Conclusions: The historical processes analysed are characterised by ruptures resulting from changes, especially in the legislation, both in the municipal public network and in the technical education institution researched, enabling the realisation of changes and the characterisation of distinct periods, with their nuances.

ABSTRACT Objective: To unveil expressions of intrafamily violence experienced in childhood and/or adolescence by women who attempted suicide. Method: This is a study with a qualitative approach based on Oral Story. Participants were ten women with a history of suicide attempt, who experienced intrafamily violence in childhood and/or adolescence. The research was carried out at the Center for the Study and Prevention of Suicide, linked to a Toxicological Information Center in the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Results: From the orality of women, the study allowed the emergence of the following representative categories of intrafamily abuse experienced in childhood and/or adolescence: psychological violence, rejection, neglect, physical violence and sexual violence. Final considerations: The study alerts to intrafamily violence as an aggravation related to suicidal behavior, offering elements that help in the identification of their expressions, which will raise awareness to suicidal behavior and consequently suicide prevention.

The public transport, as we know it today, originates from the end of the 18 th and beginning of the 19th Centuries. Initially a privilege for the aristocratic and bourgeoisie classes, public transport saw a surge in development once communication between Madrid and others distant urban centers became a necessity that demanded a more economical and accessible transport system. The increase of these services, along with the diversification of the means of transportation, quickly caused congestion problems at transfer points. Throughout the last century, these same problems have been confronted with a variety of diverse strategies and solutions. All in all, the history of intermodality in Madrid tells the story of an evolution that has allowed the urban web to unite all of its branches extending from the main gates that are now being converted the interchanges in relation with the city. From its creation in 1985, the CRTM (transport authority of Madrid), considered the intermodality to be a main priority within the following different fields of action: infrastructure, ticketing and whole image and information. Within the interchanges is where the integration efforts of the different transport modes best become a reality. In essence, interchanges play the same role in today`s cities as the gates in the walls of a centuries-old medieval city. At this moment, interchanges are the gates to the cities of the 21st Century.

The occurrence of historiotoponyms in Marechal Cândido Rondon's streetsAbstractToponyms can reveal cultural and social aspects from a certain place. Upon this and alongside with the interest of unveiling curiosities about the naming of Marechal Cândido Rondon’s streets, a city located in the Paraná’s west, we aimed to investigate events and facts that may have contributed to the process of choosing the city streets’ historioponyms constituted by dates, besides interpreting the enunciations in them, which express preference to the chosen dates. Applying qualitative approach, bibliographic and documentary methodologies, we reviewed theorical assumptions from Toponomastic studies (DICK, 1992; ISQUERDO, 1997; SEIDE, 2010; BRANDÃO ABBADE, 2016) and from Semântica do Acontecimento (GUIMARÃES, 2002), investigated historiotoponyms and collected data from historic informations related to the constitution of the city. From the 14 historiotoponyms identified, 7 recall national events and commemorations, 4 are related to local important facts and personalities, while 3 of them were not related to any event. Based on that, we were able to state that the enunciation of the national hystoriotoponyms is linked to the interest of alleging that the city belongs to the brazilian nation, while historioroponyms linked to important personalities in the history of the city aim to contribute to characterizing the city as a German city.Key-words: Toponomastic, Historiotoponyms, Semântica do Acontecimento.

This paper proposes to discuss the constitution of Mesquita’s Municipal Education System (SEMED - MESQUITA / RJ), after the emancipation of the city in 1999. Through a historical and social approach (DALLABRIDA, 2008; 2011; 2012A; 2012B) and throughout a bibliographic review and documentary analysis as methodologic approaches, this research is compatible with the period in which city hall and the city's public services implementation, from 2001 to 2006. Through the basis of the Sociology of Professions and the concepts of identity (DUBAR, 1998; 2005. DUBET & MARTUCCELLI, 1997), we aim to understand the different educational identities of the groups of individuals that compose this social universe (FARIA FILHO et al., 2004). Across tensions and intrinsic characteristics from history of the present time, this study becomes relevant by its social context in consonance to the study of a local history of Baixada Fluminense (DIAS & BEZERRA, 2015). We conclude this study on the constitution of SEMED-MESQUITA and we take considerations about the process of “municipalization”, and the strategies that are hand-launched in an emergency way to legitimize their emancipation and their status as a city.

Abstract. During the 19th century, the port of Valparaíso was the place in Chile with the closest links to the rest of the world, leading to strong social, cultural and technological transformations in the city. The arrival of the industrial revolution together with foreign influence led to the apparition of machinism; which along with the need to connect the lower area of the city with the hills led to the construction of several urban elevators. More than thirty elevators functioned throughout Valparaíso during the 20th century, out of which less than a half remained operational at the beginning of the 21st century. In order to recover this valuable heritage in a city which was declared World Heritage in 2003 by UNESCO, the Ministry of Public Works of Chile promoted a plan to restore nine urban elevators in Valparaíso. This article refers specifically to the restoration works of the second elevator ever built in the city: the Cordillera funicular, which opened in 1887. The complexities linked to the recovery of an obsolete technological system for contemporary public transport standards will be exposed; along with relevant discoveries linked to the history of Valparaíso, such as the archaeological finding of the ruins of the San José Castle during building works.

A history of foot-ball in the city of Bocaiúva (MG): breton sport and modernity in the hinterland.OBJECTIVE: The present study aims to identify the emergence of football practice in the city of Bocaiúva, located in the northern region of the state of Minas Gerais, between the years 1920 to 1940.METHODS: This study was carried out through documentary research in printed sources, such as periodicals that circulated in the city in the period, such as Gazeta do Norte and Bocayuva. Such sources were submitted to a documentary analysis. RESULTS: Presenting its emergence through the feet of the local elite, football was subsequently practiced by the workers who worked on the construction of the railway line, an operation that was carried out in the region. Thus, at that moment, several football associations emerge, among them Bocayuva Esporte Clube, the central team, and Granjas Reunias. Such associations provide several intercity matches. Therefore, it is possible to perceive the configuration of new habits of a modern society, in the early period of republican Brazil, even in the case of a city in the interior, which was mirrored in the behaviors of European society, by reflecting the behavior of the capital of Brazil in the period: Rio de Janeiro.CONCLUSION: Thus, in addition to this sports practice being able to provide a process of socialization and integration between the cities of northern Minas Gerais, in this research, the representativeness of football and the meaning that this sport transmitted to the collective imagination of the small city of Bocaiúva stood out.
