Indonesia is a very large and wide country, consisting of many islands and abundant natural resources. Natural resources in Indonesia are everything that comes from nature that is used to meet the needs of human life. Generally, natural resources in Indonesia can be classified based on their nature, namely renewable natural resources and non-renewable natural resources. Humans are very dependent on natural resources and the sustainability of natural resources is strongly influenced by human activities. Watershed is one of the natural resources that is very complex and consists of various components that make it up. The functions and benefits of water resources themselves, including rivers, require various efforts to improve and protect water so that it is efficient and effective for living things and the surrounding environment. One of them is the Bindu river in the Kesiman Traditional Village. The Bindu River is widely used by the community, causing water pollution in the Bindu river, such as the Kesiman Traditional Village which has an important role in suppressing the occurrence of water pollution that occurs in the Bindu river.

The article presents an analysis of alternative theories of ecological and economic development. The authors formulate the role of the environmental factor in socio-economic development, taking into account the ideas of alternative economic schools and trends. The paper analyzes the problems of preserving the environment as the basis of human life. This takes into account the nature of the impact of anthropogenic pressure on natural complexes and objects, due to increased consumption, excessive withdrawal of renewable natural resources that exceed the rate of natural recovery, a reduction in the reserves of non-renewable natural resources, as well as an increase in the population. At the same time, the article focuses on the problems of sustainable, balanced, harmonious development of production and social systems.

With economic development and population growth, the demand for fresh water resources is also increasing. However, affected by sewage discharge from industry, agriculture, mining and domestic, not only the ecological environment and natural resources are seriously damaged, but also the water resources available for people to drink are decreasing day by day. How to improve the water pollution treatment technology has become an urgent task. Because of the high cost and great limitation, the traditional treatment method has no significant effect in water pollution control. As an advanced oxidation technology, photocatalyst can effectively degrade pollutants in water pollution, and has a positive effect on improving water quality, protecting natural resources and maintaining ecological balance.

Water is one of the most essential needs for life. About 0.3% of the water resources in the world are usable. Water shortages already exist in many regions, with more than one billion people without adequate drinking water. This situation is one of the most important indicators of why we should be very sensitive and conscious towards our water resources. As the world population increases need water also increases. However, as a result of different effects and especially human activities, water resources are decreasing, polluted and still used unconsciously.Water use has doubled increased between the years 1940-1980 and is faced with the danger of water shortages in many countries such as Turkey. Therefore, it is necessary to take and implement measures as soon as possible and we have to use water resources carefully. The aim of this study is to review the literature on the subject, to better understand the importance of water and to evaluate the issues such as preventing water pollution and waste from a theoretical perspective.

What we do every day at work and in our home lives can make a difference in the quality of our environment. Consider, for example, the flushing of pharmaceuticals into the sewer system can lead to water pollution resulting in a threat to aquatic and human life. In contrast, keeping aquatic life healthy may contribute to human health. Some aquatic-based medications are currently on the market. Others are in various stages of development. In this article the authors argue that, for the benefit of both human and marine life, it is time to implement safer disposal methods for unwanted medications. The authors begin by sharing nursing’s guiding principles for environmental health; after which they review research related to pharmaceutical pollution of water resources; describe health care treatments derived from marine life; and discuss suggestions for promoting aquatic health. They conclude that by taking care to preserve aquatic life, we contribute to the quality of our own human lives.

Environmental damage is a serious problem at this time. Environmental damage is caused by human activities themselves. We have felt the impact of environmental damage at this time. Weather anomalies, air, land and water pollution have become part of our daily lives. Environmental damage must be repaired immediately, because this concerns the sustainability of human life. Knowing the main causes of environmental damage is a must before repairing the damage. modernism turned out to be the main cause of environmental damage. Modernism is disastrous for human life because it separates between science and religion. In fact, religion, especially Islam, teaches people to always preserve the environment. Therefore, returning to the teachings of Islam is a solution to overcome environmental damage.

Environment is a place for living things to live their life. The environment must be kept, maintained and developed continuously in the variety of plants existing in it. Therefore, the water source can be maintained and it can flow all the time. A simple but effective step to provide essential benefits for human life is by empowering customary people with a variety of local wisdom they have in keeping and maintaining the forest. All people who behave selfishly tend to exploit these resources, that lead to a decrease in the quality and quantity of natural resources. This selfish and free behaviors exploit natural resources, so the environment is damaged and the society as a whole suffers losses from generation to generation. Bali, supported by 1493 customary villages (pakraman), has a basic concept in managing the environment known as the Tri Hita Karana concept. All forms of activities that lead to conservation efforts and a more progressive arrangement in Balinese society will be able to be maintained well.

Environmental pollution caused by waste is pollution that very dangerous for living things. In particular, water pollution, waste that is disposed of through waterways will disrupt the water ecosystem which will have an impact on human life. On the other hand, the development of entrepreneurship such as home industry has a positive impact on society, especially in terms of the economy. Therefore, water pollution indicators are needed that can be used as guidelines in treating wastes such as BOD and COD. In this study, analyzed the levels of BOD and COD from home industry wastewater in the Cawang area. The home industry includes laundry, cracker business, restaurants, printing houses, photocopying, and snack businesses. Based on the results of data analysis, the highest BOD level was 45.827 in samples taken at night. And, the highest COD levels were 95.923 in samples taken at night. These data indicate that the levels of BOD and COD in the water in the home industry waste disposal sites are below the standard threshold for wastewater quality. The levels of BOD and COD are in the safe category for aquatic biota. Keywords: BOD levels, COD levels, Waste, Water pollution
