The Qur'an is not a text of science, although in general scientific facts (phenomena of nature) are mentioned in it. It's just that in the era of the revelation of the Qur'an 17th century, the development of science is not like today. Hence the contemporary Muslim intellectuals to prove over the miracle of the Qur'an that actually contain the philosophy of knowledge that is very influential in the development of modern science. Various approaches have been used in order to give new meaning to the text of the Qur'an is static-limited with scientific approaches that are active-dynamic. One of them with hermeneutics to reread and reinterpret the text of the Qur’an to revive the text of the Qur'an itself.

The idea for the translation of the meaning of the Holy Quran in Malay Archipelago had appeared since the middle of 17th century. However, some problems in the translation of its meaning had resulted in a non-accurate translation of Quranic words or verses. A major factor contributing to this problem is the limited skills among the translators in the various fields and topics covered in Quran. Thus, a Review Committee for the Translation of the Meaning of Al-Quran consisting of experts in various field of knowledge related to Quran such as Arabic language, the target language, Quran interpretation and other disciplines such as history, geography, chemistry, biology, medicine and others that have been proposed. This article analyses two Malay translations of Holy Quran; Tafsir Pimpinan ar-Rahman and Tafsir Quran Karim guided by science-oriented exegesis (tafsir ‘ilmi) to find out whether the translation of meaning matches modern scientific facts. The accurate translation of the verse will then be proposed. The result revealed limitation in the translation of the meaning for the word adna Al-Ard to “nearest place”, while the word has various meaning. With regard to the interpretation of the mufassir and modern science fact, the suggested meaning for the word adna Al-Ard is supposed to be “the nearest place with lowest altitude”. Cite as: Hilmi, A.B.A., Mohd Yusoff, Z., Amir, S., & Zakaria, Z. Philosophy always lies at the heart of any science, regardless of how non-ideological and positivistic it claims to be; and the structure, conceptual apparatus and research methodology depend on it, whether the scientists acknowledge it or not. It is all primarily in general scientific paradigm. It so happens that key axioms, both theoretical and methodological, of modern science are materialistic. The case is that even if any scientist would like to abandon those doubtful axioms, he would continue to think along those lines as the very scientific language and scientific thought are based on them, otherwise instead of science we’ll get just an assortment of value judgments. To abandon materialistic scientific language will require sufficient efforts. Such paradigms as “created world”, the presence of “immortal origin” in a human being, etc, can’t be rationally proved, as well as, for example, phylogenesis; but they work none the worse as science methodological basis. The science won’t become any less scientific, if it is built on different basis but with adhering to scientific methodology, some specific cognitive modus of science. At the same time, the scientific language itself should be renewed. Thus we’ll try to remodel culturology. This article is a fragment of a big project, started at the initiative of the author with the goal of reformatting culturology on the basis of Orthodox patristic anthropology.

The article researches the transformation of the science functions in the process of changing the scientific rationality type in the conditions of the information society formation. The relevance of the research topic is stipulated by the need for scientific analysis and philosophical understanding of the large-scale changes occurring in modern science under the influence of informatization processes. The theoretical basis of the study are the general philosophical principles - the principles of systematicity, comprehensiveness, concreteness of the study, as well as such socio-philosophical methods as specifically historical, historical-retrospective, comparative-historical method, the method of unity of historical and logical in social cognition. Comparative analysis, interdisciplinary synthesis and other techniques of general scientific methodology are also used. The influence of socio-cultural conditions on the functional transformations of post-non-classical science is substantiated. The basic tendencies of functional transformation of science are revealed: transition to development of complex scientific programs; the convergence of research programs with high-tech manufacturing practices, the integration of computer technologies with methodological tools; the commensuration of subject lines of scientific knowledge with the conditions of formation of socially-human complexes; the coordination of rational-cognitive ethos of science with cultural universals; the extension of the intra-scientific reflection field and the formation of extra-scientific reflection forms.

The article discusses a study carried out to investigate scientific reasoning skills among 82 science pre-service teachers at the Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), one of the public universities in Malaysia. The development of general scientific abilities is critical to enable students of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to successfully handle open-ended real-world tasks in their future careers. Teaching goals in STEM education include fostering content knowledge and developing general scientific abilities. One such ability is scientific reasoning. Scientific reasoning encompasses critical thinking skill is an important and vital learning outcome in modern science education. Lawson (1978) categorized scientific reasoning into four domains: Conservative Concept, Proportional Concept, Control Variable and Probabilistic Thinking, and Hypothetical-Deductive Reasoning. An instrument by Lawson (1978) was adapted for the study. The findings show that a majority of the science pre-service teachers possess low ability in scientific reasoning. It is also found that there was no significant difference among the science pre-service teachers of the physics, biology and chemistry disciplines examined. Physics students had developed higher ability in Conservative Concept, Proportional Concept, and Hypothetical-Deductive Reasoning and chemistry students had higher ability in Control Variable and Probabilistic Thinking, whereas biology students had moderate ability in the four scientific reasoning patterns. KEYWORDS: scientific reasoning; science education; higher education.

The purpose of the article is to investigate the armed and ideological struggle of the OUN and UPA against the Soviet administration in the Kamin-Kashyrskyi district in the period from 1944 to 1945. The research methodology is based on the use of general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis and generalization) in combination with the principles of historicism, objectivity and systematics. The work uses source analysis, methods of classification and critique of sources and their identification. The scientific novelty of the work is that for the first time in historiography the question of generalization and systematization of scientific facts on the confrontation between the OUN and the UPA in the Kamin-Kashyrskyi district is raised. Eyewitness accounts and scientific materials that shed light on the confrontation between the nationalist underground and the local Soviet administration during this period are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. Conclusions. Based on the available scientific information, the author concludes that the confrontation between the OUN and the UPA and the Soviet administration in the Kamin-Kashyrskyi district was an important stage in the underground struggle in the future. The confrontation in 1944–1945 had important military results for the nationalist underground. However, during the research the author concluded that the aspect of the ideological struggle of the OUN and UPA against the Soviet administration needs more detailed analysis and research.
