PRESUPPOSITION FOUND IN THE BBC NEWS: CORONA VIRUS IN INDONESIA

The aim of the study was to identify and analyze the types of presupposition implied in the BBC news of corona virus in Indonesia. In this research, the researchers used descriptive qualitative research as the research design. The research design was conducted to design is a qualitative approach in which express the outcome in words and provide an explanation of the result. In collecting the data, the researchers used the observational method and non-participatory technique by Sudaryanto (1993). In analyzing data, the researchers applied pragmatic identity method and distributional method. As for the theory, the researchers used the presupposition theory proposed by Yule (1996). The types are existential, factive, non- factive, lexical, structural and the counter factual presupposition. The research was existing in the BBC news “Indonesia corona virus”. The research found the types of presupposition are existential, factive, non- factive, lexical, structural and the counter factual presupposition. The most type of presupposition which could be found is existential presupposition.

Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) is a study of language which views language as two characteristics, systemic and functional. With using SFL, the researchers try to analyze the tale’s story of Sabai Nan Aluih. The research aim is to identify the interpersonal meaning realized in that story and to reveal the speech function of language use in that story. The research design of this analysis is descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research is the interpersonal meaning analysis of clauses as exchange in the tale of Sabai Nan Aluih. The data of this research is the clauses as exchange in the story of Sabai Nan Aluih. The source of data which is used in this research is the documentation of the data research paper. The researchers use document analysis from the story of Sabai Nan Aluih as collecting data. The data is analyzed by using description method. In the interpersonal analysis, declarative mood dominates almost the story, it is about 91 %. And, the data analysis of speech function is found in the story of Sabai Nan Aluih, statement, question and command, in where statement is domination from the story about 94%. The swift flow of globalization has led to increasingly eroded Indonesian local culturalvalues. This has caused a shift in neglected cultural values and local wisdom. Therefore,an approach is needed, namely ethnoscience in the learning process. This studypurposed to determine whether The Elementary School of Muhammadiyah Alam SuryaMentari has applied ethnoscience in science learning and describe the implementationof ethnoscience based on science learning in The Elementary School of MuhammadiyahAlam Surya Mentari.The method used was descriptive qualitative research design. Theresults of the study showed that the planning of science learning based on ethnoscienceapproach in This School was still unplanned, but the school had unconsciously implementedethnoscience approach. The implementation of science based on ethnosciencelearning was by integrating between the material with the environment, culture, and socialin the environment. Evaluation of the implementation of ethnoscience based on sciencelearning included cognitive, affective, and psychomotor evaluation in accordance withevaluation standards in the 2013 curriculum.

This descriptive qualitative research essentially aimed to find out the types of code mixing on Brown Sugar Battle video. Titan Tyra published the video on June 17th, 2019. The researchers chose the utterances of Titan Tyra that contained code mixing as the data source of this research. In collecting the data, the researchers conducted observational method and non-participatory technique. Additionally, in analyzing the data, the researchers applied bilingual-differentiating identification method and differentiating comparative link technique. Furthermore, the researcher applied the theory of code mixing proposed by Muysken (2000). The result revealed that the speaker frequently inserted English words and phrases in the utterance of Indonesian language. The speaker mixed language to do the review of brown sugar drink. From 53 data, there were 31 data of insertion and 22 data of congruent lexicalization. The type of insertion became the most frequently uttered type. Also, the speaker did not utter English clause in utterances.

This research aims to figure out the types of personification used in one of the famous albums namely Michael Jackson's Thriller and Invincible. The sources of data were 19 songs taken from Thriller and Invincible albums by Michael Jackson and the lyrics of the songs. The research design used was descriptive qualitative research with documentation analysis as the technique of data collection. The result showed that there were 65 personification expressions found in the albums. Those 65 personifications were categorized into four types of personification as proposed by Dorst et al. (2011) namely: conventionalized personification (33 expressions), novel personification (20 expressions), default personification (12 expressions), and personification-with-metonymy (0 expressions). The idea of conventionalized personification presents in the lyrics is to dig out the beauty and tranquility of nature to life. It also might address giving an object or animal-human characteristics to create interesting imagery to the ELT Students. Also, these songs are assumed as one of the various English materials in language teaching in the future since it has no sarcasm and motivating contexts throughout the lyrics themselves.

The objective of this study is to describe teaching and learning poetry meaning activities of Buya Hamka by using jigsaw technique in STKIP PGRI Pasuruan. This study focused on the descriptive qualitative research design. The results of the observation show that the teaching and learning activities by using jigsaw technique run effectively and efficiently. It enables the students get a lot of knowledge and perspective of Buya Hamka poem from their interaction process. They discuss, share, and contribute knowledge each other with the teacher’s facilitations. As the result, they get a lot of information of Buya Hamka poem meaning from their home and expert groups.

The aim of the research is to find out endophoric references in Mark Zuckerberg biography and the relationship between discourse analysis and pragmatic. The research used descriptive qualitative research design. The data obtained from Mark Zuckerberg biography written by the biography website. The data are analyzed using Halliday & Hasan’s theory (1976) of reference cohesion reference is one of the cohesive devices. The result shows that endophoric reference exists in Mark Zuckerberg biography endophoric. Endophoric consist of two types, the first is anaphoric and the second is cataphoric. In this research there are five type cohesive devices that are usually used in texts like substitution, references, ellipsis, lexical cohesion, and conjunctions. In the research found that cataphoric is dominant than anaphoric because the subject is located in the beginning of the sentences. Cohesive devices not only focused on lexical cohesion, but also focused on ellipsis and substitution and reference.

This study aims to describe the forms of expressive speech act uttered by adults in TPI in Pesisir Selatan Regency, Sumatera Barat. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The data are any utterances which contain expressive speech acts of adult in TPI Pesisir Selatan. The analysis is done by using speech acts theory proposed by Searle. Data source of this research is Adult in TPI. In this research, the researcher used observational method because the data are in the form of spoken language that obtained in a Adult in TPI. Thus this research used notetaking technique in collecting expressive speech act. The research findings show that there are ten kinds of expressive speech act in adults in TPI, namely apology, thanks, sympathy, attitudes, expressing greeting, wishing, expressing joy, expressing pain, expressing like, and expressing dislikes.

The situation and characteristics of the Minangkabau Family Consultative Body of the South Sumatra Province have work programs or activities. This appears related to the management of financial statements. This research in the research design used is descriptive qualitative approach. The purpose of using qualitative research methods is to disclose comparatively and in accounting for financial statements in accordance with the guideline PSAK No. 45. The results showed the weekly general cash report or transactions recorded manually in large books, and became the basis for making the budget realization report for the current year. Application of PSAK No. 45, will produce financial reports consisting of: Statements of Financial Position, Activity Reports, Cash Flow Statements and Notes to Financial Statements. The report has been presented in accordance with PSAK No. 45 of 2011. Conclusion, this standard looks more complicated but by applying this standard will produce more adequate financial statements. The purpose of this study is to find out the types of deixis and the most dominant deixis that appeared in the Avengers Infinity War Movie. This study applied descriptive qualitative research. For collecting data, the researcher used non-participatory technique and observational method. The data in this study applied the theory from Levinson. The utterances of the speaker is used as the data in this study. The researcher found 168 data of deixis. The data were analyzed into person, temporal, place, discourse, and social deixis. The result showed that there are 87 person deixis, 31 temporal deixis, 14 place deixis, 21 discourse deixis, and 15 social deixis. There has been a spreading phenomenon in which many of today's youth societies tend to go wild and out of control. Most of such functions tend to be surrounded by individuals who indulge themselves in sinful acts instead of doing a self-discovery process to gain the God's blessings. Having seen many youths tend to enjoy doing forbidden acts and restrain-free activities, therefore Majlis Gaul community proposed a new way of da'wah. The community employs a subtle and a heart warming way of conveying da'wah. It is no longer conventional preaching which is in the form of oral da'wah, but they employ transformative da'wah method. This transformative da'wah is implemented in social change activities, by using da'wah as a religious material and positioning the dai (preacher) as the conveyer of religious messages to the community. The current study is a qualitative research with descriptive qualitative approach. In this study, the data are presented in descriptive texts. The results of this study are: 1) In shaping the Islamic character, Majlis Gaul community held a "Brother Camp" as well as some "Kajian Inspirasi". 2) Majlis Gaul invited Muslim youths to join activities such as sports (archery and horse riding). 3) The transformative da'wah done by Majlis Gaul was carried out by means of dialogue, exchanging thoughts and feelings. 4) The effort of Majlis gaul to do transformative da'wah is carried out by preaching through social media. This is because preaching through social media has become an increasingly globalized and entrenched phenomenon.
