The purpose of writing this article is to provide an analytical study of literary texts associated with the diversity of local wisdom in North Sumatra. The emergence of short story writers in North Sumatra gives a new color in carrying the wisdom of the local culture. The content of short stories loaded with cultural contents is implicitly conveyed to provide knowledge about the culture itself that begins to fade. Problems in this study include how to examine local wisdom in the short stories of North Sumatra authorship. The theory used is Cultural Theory and Literary Anthropology, which is very relevant in exploring aspects of local wisdom in the content of the short stories. Qualitative descriptive methods are used in identifying and analyzing the contents of such short stories and then interpreted in the context of related local cultural wisdom. This of course requires an objective narrative so that the explanation does not deviate from the cultural packages of North Sumatra. The results of the research obtained illustrate the strength of local wisdom that appears in the content of the North Sumatra authorship short story. Aspects of the language system, social system, livelihood system, and arts represent local wisdom from the analysis of north Sumatra's authorship short stories. These values are examined from the background and from dialogues that arise from the contents of short stories and then constructed according to the theory used.

Tulisan ini membahas citra perempuan Banten dalam cerpen yang dimuat di harian Radar Banten dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Budaya Banten melatarbelakangi para cerpenis dalam melukiskan perempuan Banten. Para penulis dapat memotret sebagian kehidupan para perempuan tersebut melalui tokoh-tokoh rekaan yang diciptakan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji citra perempuan Banten melalui deskripsi para cerpenis dalam harian Radar Banten. Sumber data utama berasal dari empat belas cerpen yang dimuat tahun 2006—2010. Setelah analisis data melalui teori feminisme, diketahui bahwa citra perempuan Banten dalam cerpen tersebut adalah perempuan sebagai sosok pemimpin pemerintahan, penulis, perempuan berkekuatan magis, pemegang norma, pekerja keras, penyabar, penyayang, perempuan yang agamis, dan perempuan metropolis.Abstract:This paper discusses the image of Banten women in short stories published in Radar Banten. It  uses a qualitative descriptive method. Banten’s  cultural background depicts women in Banten. The writers of short story can capture some of the women’s real life through fiction’s characters. The purpose of this study is to examine the image of women through the description of the short story’s writers in Radar Banten. The main data sources were taken from fourteen short stories published in 2006—2010. Having analyzed the data using feminism theory, it is found out that the image of women in short stories of Radar Banten is the figure of woman as government leader, writer, woman with magical power, obedient norm woman, hardworking woman, patient and caring woman, religious woman, and  metropolitan woman.

<p><strong>Abstrak</strong><strong></strong></p><p>Aliran Parmalim merupakan kepercayan suku Batak, namun banyak masyarakat beranggapan bahwa aliran ini adalah aliran Pemuja Setan (Sipelebegu). Tulisan ini menggunakan metode kualitatif-deskriptif, dan berupaya mengenal aliran parmalim menurutpandangan Majelis Ulama Indonesia serta Persekututan Gereja-gereja di Sumatera Utara. Aliran Parmalim berasal dari dua kata yaitu <em>ugamo</em> dan <em>malim. </em>Majelis Ulama Indonesia Wilayah Sumatera Utara (MUI SUMUT) menyatakan bahwa Aliran Kepercayaan Parmalim bukan bagian dari agama.Sementara Persekutuan Gereja-Gereja di Indonesia Wilayah Sumatera Utara (PGI-WSU) menyatakan bahwa aliran Parmalim merupaka suatu aliran kepercayaan di Indonesia namun memiliki pemahaman iman yang sangat jauh berbeda.</p><p><strong>Kata kunci: </strong>MUI, Parmalim, PGI-WSU</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong><em>Abstrak</em></strong><strong><em></em></strong></p><p><em>Parmalim is a Batak tribe belief, but many people assume that this flow is the flow of Satanists. This paper uses a qualitative-descriptive method, trying to recognize the flow of parmalim according to the views of the Indonesian Ulema Council and the Alliance of Churches in North Sumatra. Parmalim flow comes from two words namely ugamo and malim. The Indonesian Ulema Council of North Sumatra Region (MUI SUMUT) states that beliefs Parmalim are not part of religion. This research was based on the view that literature is basically a reflection of society. So in this study, researchers used the approach to the sociology of literature. This paper aimed to describe (1) short story becomes one of the literary works that are used as teaching material in schools, (2) the aspect of characrter education based on the collection of short stories entitled Mata Yang Enak Dipandang by Ahmad Tohari, and (3) social problems collection of short stories entitled Mata Yang Enak Dipandang. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive explaining the data that has been found in research. The main data sources in this study the quotations contained in the novel and the results of interviews with literary experts and learning experts. The results of this study is the main characters in this short story are varied and its can be utilized in the study of literary appreciation for Class XI in Senior high school semester with the standard literary discourse understanding competence through reading poetry and short stories in the aspects of reading and basic competence that is analyzing the intrinsic elements of a short story linkages with everyday life

This study aims to describe the improvement of speech skills in responding to students' short stories through the application of the stick talking method. This study is based on learning to speak in response to the short story on the students in the category of low. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with a classroom action approach that describes speaking skills to respond to classical short stories and speaking skills in response to a short story through a talking stick method. in practive both two cycles consisting of the planning stage, the execution of the action, the observation, and the reflection. The subject of this study were samples dran bypurposive sampling technique of 30 students of class VII-C SMP Negeri 40 Medan. The results showed that students 'ability to respond to the students' short story increased after talking stick method was applied in the pre-cycles, the average score was 52.33 and the percentage of classical completeness was 20% After applying the method of talking stick ), the result of the students 'test scores on the first cycle obtained an average score of 69.5 and increased to 71.67 in the second cycle test.Based on the percentage of students' classical completeness in cycle I 66.67% increase in cycle II 76.67%. The research concluded that the application of talking stick method can improve the speaking skill in responding to the short story in the students of class VII-C SMP Negeri 40 Medan.

The writing of literary works by authors from Minangkabau is dominated by the theme of youth resistance to Minangkabau culture supported by the Elder. Therefore, this article tried to discuss about young people's resistance to Minangkabau culture in the Kompas Daily short story. The research data was collected from four short stories by Minangkabau authors published by Kompas daily and analyzed using the theory of sociology of literature by using mimesis approach. This type of research was qualitative descriptive. Collecting and analyzing data were done simultaneously with reading-record-analysis technique, used content analysis method and heuristic and hermeneutic reading method. The findings of the study and discussion revealed that the short story of the Kompas Daily contained the resistance of Minangkabau youth which included resistance to the tradition of money pick-ups,  to the customary provisions that prohibit boys in Minangkabau occupied communal land, to mamak policies abusing inherited property, and  to the ban on marriage in the Minangkabau culture.Penulisan karya sastra oleh pengarang yang berasal dari Minangkabau didominasi oleh tema penentangan kaum muda terhadap budaya Minangkabau yang didukung oleh kaum tua. Oleh sebab itu, artikel ini mencoba melihat penentangan kaum muda terhadap budaya Minangkabau dalam cerpen Harian Kompas. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dari empat cerpen karya pengarang Minangkabau yang diterbitkan Harian Kompas dan dianalisis menggunakan teori sosiologi sastra dengan menggunakan pendekatan mimesis. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskripstif. Pengumpulan dan penganalisisan data dilakukan secara bersamaan dengan teknik baca-catat-analisis, menggunakan metode content analysis dan metode pembacaan heuristik dan hermeneutik. Temuan penelitian dan pembahasan mengungkapkan bahwa cerpen Harian Kompas memuat penentangan kaum muda Minangkabau yang meliputi penentangan terhadap tradisi uang jemputan, penentangan terhadap ketentuan adat yang melarang anak laki-laki di Minangkabau menempati tanah ulayat, penentangan terhadap kebijakan mamak yang menyalahgunakan harta pusaka, dan penentangan terhadap larangan pernikahan sesuku dalam budaya Minangkabau.

Interactive multimedia here is a learning medium that combines text, amber, audio. Interactive multimedia based on religious characters here is an interactive multimedia which contains the value of religious characters. The purpose of this study is to determine the ability to write short stories using interactive multimedia based on religious characters of grade 6 elementary school students. This research was a qualitative descriptive study. Verbal data in this study are the results of recording short story writing using interactive multimedia based on religious characters and nonverbal data, namely the value of the evaluation results of the ability to write short stories of grade 6 students using interactive multimedia based on religious characters. Subjects in this study were students of grade 6 Kawedanan 2 State Elementary School, totaling 39 people. This study uses data collection techniques, namely (a) observation, (b) interviews, and (c) tests. Data in this study will be analyzed with interactive data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of the evaluation given, students' short story writing skills are good. All students have achieved the Minimum Completion Criteria that has been set, namely 75. In learning to write short stories, the average grade is 82.18% of the total 39 students. The lowest value is 75 and the highest value is 90.

The first women's short story in the Yemen was published in the South in the 1960 at the beginning of the decade that was to witness national liberation movements in both the South and the North. In the South independence was gained from British colonial control in the 1967 when the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen was formed. During this decade women from the South began to publish short stories. In the North the revolution of 1962 led to the creation of the Yemen Arab Republic, ending the rule of the Imams. But for most of the rest of the decade there was instability and fighting between republican and loyalist forces. Women from the North started to publish short stories in the 1970's . Since then Yemeni women have continued to write and publish their stories in newspaper, magazines and in anthologies1

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk hegemoni dalam kumpulan cerpen Kinokot karya Andhika Mappasomba. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa teks yang mengacu pada bentuk-bentuk hegemoni dalam cerpen “Kinokot” dan “Dia Tak Pernah Kembali” karya Andhika Mappasomba sedangkan sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu kumpulan cerpen Kinokot yang diterbitkan oleh P3i Press pada tahun 2018. Objek formal penelitian ini adalah teori hegemoni Gramsci. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk-bentuk hegemoni tampak pada dua cerpen yang ada di dalam kumpulan cerpen Kinokot yaitu cerpen Dia Tak Pernah Kembali dan cerpen Kinokot. kedua cerpen tersebut menunjukkan adanya bentuk hegemoni menyeluruh yang dibuktikan dengan hadirnya tokoh yang dengan sadar melarungkan anaknya ke laut demi mematuhi anjuran pemerinta tentang keluarga berencana. Selain hegemoni menyeluruh, kedua cerpen tersebut, menghadirkan bentu hegemoni minimum yang dibuktikan melalui sikap negosiasi dan resisten yang ditampakkan dalam cerita. Kata Kunci: hegemoni, kumpulan cerpen Kinokot Abstract: This study aims to describe the form of hegemony in a collection of short stories by Andhika Mappasomba Kinokot. This research is a qualitative study using a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study is in the form of text that refers to the forms of hegemony in “Kinokot” short stories and “He Never Returns” to Andhika Mappasomba's work while the data source in this study is a collection of Kinocot short stories published by P3i Press in 2018. The formal object of this research is the theory of hegemony. Gramsci. The results showed that the forms of hegemony were seen in the two short stories in the Kinokot short story collection, namely Dia Tak Never Return and the Kinokot short stories. The two short stories show a form of overall hegemony as evidenced by the presence of a character who is conscious of throwing himself out to sea in order to comply with the government's recommendation regarding family planning. In addition to the overall hegemony, the two short stories present a minimum form of hegemony as evidenced by the negotiation and resistance attitudes shown in the story.Keywords: hegemony, collection of short stories Kinokot

This research aims to describe the form and function of social interaction in six short stories called Potongan Cerita di Kartu Pos by Agus Noor. The qualitative descriptive method is used by using content analysis technique. The results show that: (1) the social interactions in short stories are associative social and dissociative social interactions, the dissociative social interaction is dominant in social interaction; and (2) the embodiment of this social interaction serves as the presence of social life in the society in short story as one of fictions form. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis isi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) wujud interaksi sosial dalam cerpen-cerpen pada kumpulan cerpen ini berupa interaksi sosial asosiatif dan disosiatif, interaksi sosial yang dominan yaitu interaksi sosial disosiatif; dan (2) perwujudan interaksi sosial ini berfungsi sebagai penghadiran kehidupan sosial di masyarakat dalam cerpen sebagai salah satu bentuk fiksi. This study aims, (1) to analyze and describe student responses through the determination of themes and characterizations in the Asa and Forest Kalimantan short stories. Secondly, analyzing and describing environmental phenomena in the short story through student responses according to Garrard's concept. The theory used in this study is Greg Garrard's (2004) ecocritical theory. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The population is 247 students. The samples were 28 students. Sampling is done by a purposive method. Research data sources, namely (1) short stories are downloaded via the web https://www.scribd.com, (2) questionnaires containing student responses. The research data is the students' responses according to the questionnaire given. Data collection is done through a questionnaire, read, and note down techniques. The validity of the data is done through the triangulation of theories and sources. Data analysis is carried out in stages: (a) reduction; (b) presentation; (c) the conclusion; and (d) verification of results. The results of this study indicate (1) Themes and characterizations. The theme of the Asa and Forest Kalimantan short stories is the theme of protection/preservation of the forest, the theme of animal hunting, and varied themes. Characterization, which is played by Asa figures who have never done damage to the forests of Kalimantan and Asa figures use nature as needed. In other words, the character of Asa has the character of ‘protect’ and is not greedy to nature; (2) environmental phenomena discovered through student responses are animal phenomena, namely natural destruction due to the hunting of Bornean Orang Utans.
