Ficus benghalensis is one of those taboo plants in India, which was claimed to be possessed and have weird effects on human health. Apart from this ficus species has a great variety of chemical constituents and an abundant amount of antioxidants. Drying is the most critical stage of improving the activity or preventing the loss of chemical components from a drug. There is another stage of ensuring high chemical constituent content in the plant and that is the extraction procedure. So the point of focus in the current research is to find the effect of extraction method and drying on the anti-inflammatory potential of the plant. The result of the extraction method and drying method of the plant was investigated and found that the ultrasound-assisted extraction of the shade dried leaves was found to give the highest yield of flavonoids and activity.

Invertase (INV) may influence sugar levels and assimilate transport in strawberry fruit. Several groups, including our own, have only detected acid INV (optimum pH 4.6) in strawberry fruit, however, recently Hubbard et al. (Physiol. Plant. 82:191-196, 1991) reported the presence of a neutral INV (pH 7.5). Since dissimilar isolation protocols may have contributed to the different findings, we re-examined our work with developing `Brighton' strawberry using the extraction procedure of Hubbard et al. Neutral INV activity per gFW (pH 7.5-8.0) increased many fold as fruit developed from green to the red ripe stage. Acid INV activity decreased markedly from green-white to the red stage. In addition, when fruit extracts were precipitated with cold acetone, a pellet contained 60% of the acid INV activity, and a surface coagulation of protein contained 60% of the neutral INV activity. This allowed easy separation of these two enzymes. Extraction methodologies affect isolation of neutral INV activity from strawberry fruit.

Porous pavements infiltrated with stormwater are faced with clogging problems: runoff particles seep and clog the pervious surface layer of these structures. Clogging material samples (in the form of sludge) have been collected in cleaning operations on the pervious asphalt. This study aims at characterizing these materials, particle size distribution, heavy metal contents by particle size, and studying interactions between metals and particles. A sequential extraction procedure proposed by the experts of the Community Bureau of Reference (B.C.R.) was applied to provide information about heavy metal distribution on particles and to evaluate interaction strength, and consequently potential metal mobility when chemical variations occurred in the environment. Mainly made up of sand, the materials are polluted with lead, copper, zinc and cadmium. The concentrations appeared to be linked with road traffic intensity. The heavy metal contents by particle size showed that the finer are the particles, the higher are the heavy metal concentrations. Heavy metals were found potentially labile; metals contents in the residual fraction (mineral fraction) represented less than 20 % of the total concentration. Cadmium and zinc were apparently more labile than lead and copper.

Background: Since propofol is rapidly metabolized and excreted from the body, it is not easy to quantify its intake in blood or urine sample over the time. In this case, the hair sample would be more advantageous to estimate during the abuse period. However, presence of protein and lipid in the hair sample could interfere extraction and be problematic during mass spectrometric analysis. Objective: The aim of this study is to develop the simple and less-time consuming method for extraction of propofol glucuronide by removing hair interferences with centrifugal filter. Method: Hair samples were washed and dissolved with sodiumhydroxide solution. This dissolved hair solution was applied to centrifugal filter and centrifuged. The filtrate was extracted with ethyl acetate and evaporated to dryness. The residue was reconstituted with methanol and analyzed by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. This developed analytical method was validated by testing of linearity, selectivity, accuracy, precision, recovery, matrix effect and stability of propofol glucuronide. Results and Discussion: The validation results showed good linearity over the concentration range of 0.5~500 pg/mg, with correlation coefficient of 0.9991. The LOD and LLOQ was 0.2 and 0.5 pg/mg, respectively. The intra-and inter-day precision and accuracy were acceptable within 14.5% for precision and 10.1% for accuracy. Similarly, the developed method revealed high sample recovery (>88%), low hair matrix effect (<10%) and highly-efficient extraction procedure. Conclusion: This well validated procedure was successfully applied to determine propofol glucuronide in rat hair sample and can be applicable, with high potential, in the field of forensic toxicology especially with increasing abuse and accidental overdose of propofol.

Several methods of Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) extraction have been applied to extract bacterial DNA. The amount and the quality of the DNA obtained for each one of those methods are variable. The study aimed to evaluate bacterial DNA extraction using conventional boiling method followed by alcohol precipitation. DNA extraction from Gram negative bacilli was extracted and precipitated using boiling method with further precipitation by ethanol. The extraction procedure performed using the boiling method resulted in high DNA yields for both E. coli and K. pneumoniae bacteria in (199.7 and 285.7μg/ml, respectively) which was close to control method (229.3 and 440.3μg/ml). It was concluded that after alcohol precipitation boiling procedure was easy, cost-effective, and applicable for high-yield quality of DNA in Gram-negative bacteria.

Рассмотрены области СВЧ ИС, чувствительные к возникновению ТЭ, определены основные параметры тиристорных структур. Проведена апробация подхода к восстановлению параметров схемно-топологической радиационно-ориентированной модели тиристорной структуры для САПР. The paper analyzes ionizing radiation induced latchup in microwave SiGe BiCMOS integrated circuits (ICs). Critical parts of ICs sensitive to latchup have been identified and basic parameters of corresponding parasitic thyristor structures have been determined. An approach has been approved to the thyristor structure compact model parameters extraction procedure intended for use in CAD systems.

The procedure for the determination of carbamate pesticides in soil was optimized. The following factors affecting the final results were investigated: extracting solvent, extraction procedure, extract purification procedure, and soil type. Triple extraction with acetone and purification of the extract on a two-stage purification column containing an activated carbon-silica gel 1+1 mixture were found optimal. The extracts after treatment were analyzed by RP-HPLC with UV detection. The method developed allows carbamate pesticides in soil to be determined at concentrations in excess of 30 μg kg-1.
