The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the depression of university students and to investigate statistically predictive factors of depression types. In Greece, the University is the beginning of a new life for all young people who enter adulthood from adolescence and when it is one of life's greatest goals, it often produces symptoms of stress and depression. Students have difficulty organizing and managing their work, setting goals and identifying priorities, working in groups, stressing public speaking, and experiencing emotional disturbances. So, we administered the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) scale to 101 students at the University of Patras in Greece. The BDI measures the cognitive, behavioural, and physical manifestations of one's depression (and severity of depression) over the last week and includes 21 questions, ranging from 0-3, and depending on the overall score, 1) the depression is interpreted as normal 2) as a mild mood disorder, 3) as marginal clinical depression, 4) as moderate depression, 5) as severe depression and 6) as extreme depression. In this study, we separated our dataset into the above six depression categories and applied linear regression to predict the category Depression from the rest of the questionnaire variables. According to the results, we achieved a total prediction of 98% of the dataset that calculates the Regression equation.

The article discusses issues related to the peculiarities of the professional choice of graduates of public education organizations. There are results of the study presented, which allow us to determine the role of conscious self-regulation of the activity of young people who find themselves in a situation of having to make a professional choice (on the example of students of a pedagogical university). The research involved 302 first-year students studying in the field of training 44.03.01 «Pedagogical Education». As research tools, the «Motivation of teaching pedagogical university students» methodology by S.А. Pakulina and M.V. Ovchinnikov and the questionnaire «Style of self-regulation of behaviour» by V.I. Morosanova were used. The data obtained during the research were organized, processed and interpreted using mathematical methods. It was found that first-year students who, upon entering the university, made a professional choice more consciously, taking into account their interests and inclinations have a well-developed need to think through their actions and behaviour to achieve their goals and their action plan is detailed. They are also characterized by independence in designing an action plan to achieve individual goals, flexibility in the situation of unforeseen circumstances, an advanced adequate assessment of themselves and the results they achieved. As the main conclusion, the following is formulated: the possession of a developed system of conscious self-regulation of arbitrary activity in an individual who is at the stage of choosing a profession allows him to make an adequate professional choice, which, in turn, is one of the conditions for the actualization of professional and personal potential.

This chapter aims at studying the effect of the implicit factors on the intention of establishing an institution for the students of an Algerian university. The structural model of the study was proposed based on the Shapiro and Sokol model and the Ajzen model. The authors tested it on a sample of 163 university students at the University of Algeria 3. The model consists of a set of variables (the intention of establishing an institution as a dependent variable, structural and social educational support as independent variables). The results of the study showed that educational and social support factors affect the entrepreneurial spirit of students more than structural support. Value/authenticity of research enrich knowledge management literature that contributes to the search for how to support investment and support the intention to establish a special institution for young people through various mechanisms and means of support.

It is necessary for university students to be trained with real cases so that they experience experiential learning, where they have a concrete experience and learn from it. Integrating training, education, and soft skills to arm them with the necessary tools to develop an entrepreneurial intention, this will be done by training multidisciplinary work using business models adapted to teaching entrepreneurship, thus achieving avoiding drifting talent trained in universities, which does not find a stimulus to knowledge to achieve the development of their venture. Providing it from schoolwork can lead to potential businesses through the association of different university careers to generate and enhance multidisciplinary professional student-student relationships.

OBJECTIVE: to identify the presence of stress and depression among final year students of two nursing courses, and the association between these variables. METHOD: an exploratory-descriptive study, undertaken with final-year students from the Bachelor's degree and Licenciate's degree courses at the Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing, of the University of São Paulo. The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were applied. RESULTS: of the total of 88 participants in the study, 69.8% have no depression, 18.2% presented dysphoria, 6.8% moderate depression, and 5.7% severe depression, which is a low rate compared to the general population. Medium stress levels were the most frequent (76.9%). There was no significant statistical difference in the stress score between the two groups of students (Student's t-test: p=0.295>0.05). The data showed a relation between the stress and the presence of indicative signs of depression, especially severe depression (Pearson: r-0.755 and p<0.01). Discussion: The majority did not show signs of depression. The depressive states found among the students on the two courses accompanied proportionately those who obtained high stress scores, as recorded by other studies on this issue. CONCLUSION: Students with higher levels of stress are more prone to present depression, deserving educators' attention.

The problem of studying the structure of reading preferences of the population is interdisciplinary, as it belongs to the fields of literary studies, teaching, and social studies. There is a need for the research matching the current situation, which a number of authors quite rightfully name the “reading crisis”. At the same time, specific empirical studies of the recent years in Russia show an increase in reader interest (especially among young people). This actualizes the need to diagnose the structure of reader preferences in the vanguard of young people, the future scientific, technical, and managerial elite — the university students. In the world, one may see a reception of the national classical literary heritage as a reaction to globalist projects in the form of Americanization (or rather, McDonaldization). This study aims to analyze the place of Russian literary classics in the structure of reading preferences among the university students based on the results of a specific sociological questionnaire of the student audience in Astrakhan, Volgograd, and Moscow, implemented under the guidance and direct participation of the authors in 2016 and in 2019. As an indicator of familiarity of respondents with the works of Russian and Soviet writers of the 19th and 20th centuries, the authors counted the reading of a full text. The level of familiarity with the texts of the Golden Age of the Russian culture has increased, same goes for the readers’ interest in Soviet authors. Students pay more attention to the works of N. V. Gogol and M. A. Bulgakov nowadays. There is also a growing audience of authors, who write about the Great Patriotic War. The authors of this article associate this phenomenon with the activation of the historical memory of Russians. At the same time, the results show that students prefer the Soviet period of literary classics to a much lesser extent than the works of the Golden Age. The tendency to increase the importance of Russian literary classics in the structure of reader preferences of contemporary students can be associated with the processes of revival of interest in Russian culture, with the strengthening of civil position, and ultimately — the national identity. The prospects for further research are considered by the authors based on qualitative methods involving the theoretical and methodological potential of social and literary studies, which can show the possible transformation of the understanding of the meaning of works of Russian literary classics by modern students.

Introduction: Treatment adherence and illness may not be related only by the severity of the illness but by so many other factors which impact on seeking and continuing treatment; yet severity of the illness will be one of the major factors influencing treatment adherence. Methods: Female patients attending the psychiatric OPD, diagnosed with depression as per ICD-10 guidelines and provided informed consent participated in this questionnaire-based study. A total of 135 patients who attended the OPD in 9 months were assessed for the severity of depression and medication adherence by administering scales to assess the severity of depression and medication adherence was assessed by questioning about the drug taking and hospital attending behaviour. Out of this, thirty-one were attending for the first episode and hence were excluded from the analysis. Results: Out of the 104 female patients diagnosed with depression of more than one episode, 44 (42.3%) had mild depression, 52 (50%) had moderate depression and 8 (7.7%) had severe depression. Twenty-nine women (27.9%) were on medications and 75 (72.1%) women were not taking their medications. While greater proportion of women with mild depression were adherent to medication (51.7%), more women with moderate depression didn’t adhere to medication (54.7%), even though such difference was statistically not significant. Older age, having a paid work and married status were significantly associated with medication (antidepressants) adherence. Conclusions: Our results indicate that medication adherence is associated with factors other than severity of depression. Work and marital status played a significant role in determining the adherence to antidepressant medications among women.

This article is the result of a scientific investigation and has been raised around the objective of analyzing and comparing the influence of personal and social characteristics on the predisposition to innovate in the young consumers of Villavicencio - Colombia and Coatzacoalcos - Mexico. For the development was carried out to survey 1591 university students of the two cities. The age range of the sample was between 17 and 25 years. To this end, the University of Los Llanos and the Universidad Veracruzana collaborated. The results show that there is no association between the predisposition to innovate and the variables of personal or social characteristics studied. This means that a strategy of demographic segmentation is not enough, since the determinants of the behavior of the segment may be influenced by their personal motivations, or by the characteristics of the products. Sustainable education requires the proper usage of technological devices. Among these is the smartphone, which is used by millions of young people around the world in today’s society. The objective of this study was to understand the smartphone usage profile of Spanish and Italian university students. It also aimed to identify possible problematic uses, and the differences in smartphone use (or abuse) between the participating subjects. The study was descriptive and comparative, with the intentional sampling of N = 1412 subjects studying at the education faculties of the University of Alicante (UA) and the Suor Orsola Benincasa University (UNISOB). A previously-validated questionnaire with 27 items was employed during the 2019–20 academic year. The data was analysed using the SPSS 25 programme. Descriptive and inferential analyses were carried out. The results obtained after the analysis of the data indicated that, of the four possible user types—occasional, habitual, at risk, and problematic—more than half of the sample identified themselves as habitual users. It can be concluded that there are significant differences between the universities: the UA students exhibited more problematic use than the UNISOB students. It is therefore necessary to prepare training programmes that are designed to avert problematic behaviours related to smartphone use.

Palavras-chave: Ensino Superior; Inclusão Social; Extensão Universitária; Oratória; Educação Básica Reports of undergraduate and postgraduate students in nursing from a university inclusion program Abstract: Among the benefits arising from the engagement of university students in extension projects, the strengthening of the social role and citizenship stands out, with the improvement of skills and competencies learned in their academic trajectory. This paper aims to report the experiences of undergraduate and graduate students at the Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing as monitors of a university extension project called "University for a Day Program," created in 2016 through a partnership with the Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing at the University of São Paulo (EERP-USP) with the Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Culture and University Extension at USP. Based on the reports obtained, the university students enrolled in the Program had the opportunity to strengthen their public speaking skills, organize their presentations, improve their interpersonal relationships with other students, exercise their problem-solving skills, train didactics and personal organization. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Program's activities continued remotely, where monitors put all their learning into practice and needed to adapt the contents. These activities and challenges contributed to the daily construction of responsibilities and professional consolidation of university students and future teachers. One of the success indicators of this Program was the entry into the EERP-USP of three high school students who visited the Program and became monitors.
