Karnini Yonivyapad is described with its own pathogenesis and treatment in classical text. It can be compared with cervical erosion due to its clinical appearance. Among all Yonivyapad, only this Yonivyapad is related with cell pathology. In present circumstances when cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, cervical cancer are the burning issues in front of whole world, it is necessary to understand physiology and pathology of cervix in benign stages so that an appropriate prevention or treatment can be done at this stage. An ideal and complete treatment of pathological erosion should be that which destroy the ectopic columnar epithelium and make healthy cell environment so that regression of erosion will take place properly. Virechana karma is the radical purification that eliminates waste products, toxins and aggravated doshas from the body. As aggravated Doshas are the primary cause of disease, this method is the most direct for curative purposes. In present study, patient with Karnini yonivyapada is treated with combination of Shodhan, shaman and local therapy. Trivrit Lehya has been selected for Virechana karma because in all the herbs easy and safe among purgative is Trivrit. Apamarga (Achyranthes aspera L.) kshar Tail used for Yoni pichu and Triphala Guggul is selected for Shaman chikitsa, which is seen to be very much effective.

Obesity is the disease of nutritional deficiency which leads to abnormal growth of adipose tissue resulting in an increase in the body weight to the extent of 20% or more of standard weight for the person’s age, sex, and height. Obesity is one side of the double burden of malnutrition, and today more people are obese than underweight. In Ayurveda Obesity is classified under santarpanjanya rogas and ashtaninditiya purusha by Acharya Charaka. Ayurveda attributes concept of Dosha, dhatus and Mala in which any vikriti in any of dhatus, pramanatah or gunatah then it firmly affects both body and mind. Yoga and Ayurveda both spring as a greater part of spiritual and mental aspect of treatment. Considering all these factors this study is carried out to understand cause, cause effect relationship as well as treatment. In this case study patient was treated with Udwarthana, Shodhana and Shamana chikitsa, also advised Ahara (scheduled diet) and Vihara (life style modification) for the management of obesity. This showed a significant change in anthropometric measurement.

Skin is the largest and protective organ of the body that comes in contact with the external world. The skin has many roles in the maintenance of life and health. Pathological Manifestations in the skin are caused by both external and internal factors. Nowadays skin diseases are more common due to improper lifestyles and habits. Urticaria is one among them. The present case study is about, a 30-year-old female patient, visited our hospital (KC OPD) with a chief complaint of itching, redness, and mild burning sensation all over the body for nine years. We diagnosed her with Kota. Kota is mentioned in Ayurveda as one among the Twak Vikara. Most of the Acharyas are explained Sheethapitha, Udarda and Kota under a single chapter because of almost similar symptomatology. The main symptoms of Kota are Mandala (elevated round), Kandu (itching), Raga(redness), Bahuni (number) and Sanubandatha (frequency of attack). In comparison to symptomatology, Urticaria is quite similar like Kota. In India, approximately 15-20% of the general population will have Urticaria once in their life. Chronic Urticaria is defined as urticaria persisting daily or almost daily for more than 6 weeks. Chronic autoimmune urticaria or chronic idiopathic urticaria has no discernable external cause. It can cause severe impairment on the quality of life. There is no complete treatment for this, but medicines and lifestyle changes can help the patient to feel better according to modern science. In Ayurveda it is a Sadhyavyadhi, Treatment adopted here are Vamana, Virechana, Siravyada followed by Patolakaturohinyadi kashayam, Nimbadi guggulu, Vilwadigulika, Manibadram Guda. This case study proves the Ayurvedic management in Urticaria is very effective with promising results. Keywords: Kota, Urticaria, Shodhana, Shamana Aushadhis

Backgroud: The World Health Organization (WHO) explained that the number of Hyperemesis Gravidarum cases reached 12.5% of the total number of pregnancies in the world and the results of the Demographic Survey conducted in 2007, stated that 26% of women with live births experienced complications. The results of the observations conducted at the Midwife Supriyati Clinic found that pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum, with a comparison of 10 pregnant women who examined their contents there were about 4 pregnant women who complained of excessive nausea and vomiting. Objective: to determine the hyperemesis Gravidarum of pregnant mother in clinic. Methods: This study used Qualitative research methods by using a case study approach (Case Study.) Result: The description of excessive nausea of vomiting in women with Hipermemsis Gravidarum is continuous nausea and vomiting more than 10 times in one day, no appetite or vomiting when fed, the body feels weak, blood pressure decreases until the body weight decreases and interferes with daily activities days The factors that influence the occurrence of Hyperemesis Gravidarum are Hormonal, Diet, Unwanted Pregnancy, and psychology, primigravida does not affect the occurrence of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Conclusion: Mothers who experience Hyperemesis Gravidarum feel nausea vomiting continuously more than 10 times in one day, no appetite or vomiting when fed, the body feels weak, blood pressure decreases until the weight decreases and interferes with daily activities, it is because there are several factors, namely, hormonal actors, diet, unwanted pregnancy, and psychology.

Background: From the evidence of failed injection-based growth factor therapies, it has been proposed that a naturally triggered uninterrupted blood circulation of the growth factors would be superior. Objective: We seek to stimulate discussions and more research about the possibility of using the already available growth factors found in the prostate gland and endometrium by starting a novel educable physiology, known as biological transformations controlled by the mind. Methods: We summarized the stretch-gated ion channel mechanism of the cell membrane, and offer several practical methods that can be applied by anyone, in order to stimulate and enhance the blood circulation of the growth factors from the seminal fluid to sites throughout the body. This details the practical application of our earlier published studies about biological transformations. Results: A previously reported single-patient case study has been extended, adding more from his personal experiences continually improving this novel physiological training and extending the ideas from our earlier findings in detail. Conclusion: The biological transformation findings demonstrate the need additional research to establish the benefits of these natural therapies to repair and rejuvenate tissues affected by various chronic diseases or aging processes.

Successful social reintegration is critical if we are to reduce recidivism and crime in general. This voice of people article presents a background case for why effective offender reintegration services are key in South Africa, and the Eastern Cape in particular, through an example of the Offender Reintegration programme rendered by the National Institute of Crime Prevention and Reintegration of Offenders (NICRO). Apart from the paucity of literature on offender reintegration, very few voices from people working directly with these former offenders are ever heard. Therefore, this article seeks to address this gap by contributing to the body of knowledge on offender social reintegration.

The retention of uremic toxins and their pathological effects occurs in the advanced phases of chronic kidney disease (CKD), mainly in stage 5, when the implementation of conventional thrice-weekly hemodialysis is the prevalent and life-saving treatment. However, the start of hemodialysis is associated with both an acceleration of the loss of residual kidney function (RKF) and the shift to an increased intake of proteins, which are precursors of uremic toxins. In this phase, hemodialysis treatment is the only way to remove toxins from the body, but it can be largely inefficient in the case of high molecular weight and/or protein-bound molecules. Instead, even very low levels of RKF are crucial for uremic toxins excretion, which in most cases are protein-derived waste products generated by the intestinal microbiota. Protection of RKF can be obtained even in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) by a gradual and soft shift to kidney replacement therapy (KRT), for example by combining a once-a-week hemodialysis program with a low or very low-protein diet on the extra-dialysis days. This approach could represent a tailored strategy aimed at limiting the retention of both inorganic and organic toxins. In this paper, we discuss the combination of upstream (i.e., reduced production) and downstream (i.e., increased removal) strategies to reduce the concentration of uremic toxins in patients with ESKD during the transition phase from pure conservative management to full hemodialysis treatment.

AbstractChironomids are a useful group for investigating body size responses to warming due to their high local abundance and sensitivity to environmental change. We collected specimens of six species of chironomids every 2 weeks over a 2-year period (2017–2018) from mesocosm experiments using five ponds at ambient temperature and five ponds at 4°C higher than ambient temperature. We investigated (1) wing length responses to temperature within species and between sexes using a regression analysis, (2) interspecific body size responses to test whether the body size of species influences sensitivity to warming, and (3) the correlation between emergence date and wing length. We found a significantly shorter wing length with increasing temperature in both sexes of Procladius crassinervis and Tanytarsus nemorosus, in males of Polypedilum sordens, but no significant relationship in the other three species studied. The average body size of a species affects the magnitude of the temperature-size responses in both sexes, with larger species shrinking disproportionately more with increasing temperature. There was a significant decline in wing length with emergence date across most species studied (excluding Polypedilum nubeculosum and P. sordens), indicating that individuals emerging later in the season tend to be smaller.

AbstractThis study details the non-destructive chemical analysis of composite silver objects (ewers, situlas, amphora and casket) from one of the most significant late Roman finds, the Seuso Treasure. The Seuso Treasure consists of fourteen large silver vessels that were made in the fourth–early fifth centuries AD and used for dining during festive banquets and for washing and beautification. The measurements were systematically performed along a pre-designed grid at several points using handheld X-ray fluorescence analysis. The results demonstrate that all the objects were made from high-quality silver (above 90 wt% Ag), with the exception of the base of the Geometric Ewer B. Copper was added intentionally to improve the mechanical properties of soft silver. The gold and lead content of the objects shows constant values (less than 1 wt% Au and Pb). The chemical composition as well as the Bi/Pb ratio suggests that the parts of the composite objects were manufactured from different silver ingots. The ewers were constructed in two ways: (i) the base and the body were made separately, or (ii) the ewer was raised from a single silver sheet. The composite objects were assembled using three methods: (i) mechanical attachment; (ii) low-temperature, lead-tin soft solders; or (iii) high-temperature, copper-silver hard solders. Additionally, two types of gilding were revealed by the XRF analysis, one with remnants of mercury, i.e. fire-gilding, and another type without remnants of mercury, presumably diffusion bonding.

Abstract Although the microstructure of carbon black has been under investigation for more than fifty years, there are still many aspects which are controversial and some which are virtually unexplored. The inherently low degree of crystallinity and the finely-divided state of carbon blacks have greatly hindered efforts to understand them. The purpose of this article is to cite the principal contributors to our understanding of carbon black microstructure, to discuss the significance of their contribution, to present a clear picture of the present state of our knowledge, and to note areas where controversy exists and where our knowledge is incomplete. The scope of this article is necessarily limited to a reasonably complete treatment of the several aspects of carbon black microstructure; that is, the arrangement of carbon atoms to form graphite layer planes, the arrangement of layer planes to form crystallites, and the arrangement of crystallites to form the more familiar carbon black “particles” or aggregates. Particular attention is paid to more recent articles and those which have shaped our thinking on carbon black microstructure. This article also includes a fairly complete review of various studies on the changes in microstructure which are brought about by heat treatment or oxidation. In general, the rather large number of studies reporting on the microstructure of other forms of carbon have not been reviewed (except for the work of Franklin whose contribution to our understanding of carbon-black microstructure is so immense that it must be included). Although gross, morphological features such as particle size, primary aggregate size and shape are studied briefly in order to relate them to microstructure, no effort was made to review comprehensively the body of literature pertinent to this subject. Also porosity and surface characteristics per se (as measured by gas adsorption techniques) are not treated in detail here. Rather than review a dreary list of papers which have only the slightest bearing on carbon black, the author has taken the liberty of dividing the articles reviewed into two categories. The first category, which is reviewed in some detail, includes those publications in which an important contribution was made to the understanding of carbon-black microstructure. The second category includes all those articles which are discussed only briefly or not at all because the authors have reported superficial or routine studies or they (probably unknown to them) have essentially duplicated the work of an earlier worker, or have reported uncorrected results which are thus so inaccurate as to be without real value to this article; or because they comprise work which is only peripherally related to carbon black microstructure. Also, references taken from other papers, but not reviewed here, are included in the latter category. Articles by Warren, Hofmann and Wilm, Steward and Cook and Walker contain bibliographies which will be helpful to those interested in the earlier work or in the microstructure of carbons other than carbon black. For the reader whose time is limited, an adequate picture of current understanding of carbon black microstructure can be gained by reading Sections II, IV, and V which are relatively short. Finally, a word about the spirit in which the review was written. At the request of the late Dr. Craig, a critical review was prepared in which every effort was made to point out shortcomings as well as classic contributions contained in the pertinent literature. Where the experts have disagreed, the reviewer, often with skill unequal to the task, has attempted to decide which one was the more correct in the light of current knowledge. It is with deep humility and great respect for those who have gone before that this review is submitted.

Emotional energy is key to disruptive institutional work, but we still know little about what it is, and importantly, how it is refuelled. This empirical paper presents an in-depth case study of ‘No More Page 3’ (#NMP3), an Internet-based feminist organization which fought for the removal of sexualized images of women from a UK newspaper. Facing online misogyny, actors engage in ‘emotional energy replenishment’ to sustain this disruptive institutional work amid emotional highs and lows. We introduce ‘affective embodiment’ – the corporeal and emotional experiences of the institution – as providing emotional energy in relation to disruptive institutional work. Affective embodiment is surfaced through alignment or misalignment with others’ embodied experiences, and this mediates how actors replenish emotional energy. Alignment with others’ embodied experiences, often connected to online abuse, means emotional energy is replenished through ‘affective solidarity’ (movement towards the collective). Misalignment, surfaced through tensions within the movement, means actors seek replenishment through ‘sensory retreat’ (movement away from the collective). This study contributes to theorization on institutional work and emotional energy by recentring the importance of the body alongside emotions, as well as offering important lessons for online organizing.
