The strategy for the development of the pharmaceutical industry is closely linked to ensuring the national security of Russia. In connection with the situation caused by the spread of COVID-19, the development of this industry is of particular relevance. An analysis of the implementation of the pharmaceutical industry development program based on one of the indicators — the share of imported products in the commercial pharmaceutical market in the period from 2016 to 2021 shows that the Russian pharmaceutical industry will take a worthy place in the world market and will become a source of GDP growth.

Purposeful and reasonable state vision of the long-term tourism development strategy determines the success of a country in the world market of tourist services. Many countries have officially approved program documents that clearly outline the main goals and objectives of the state policy in the sphere of tourism, highlighting the resource potential, recreational infrastructure and preferred consumer markets, but there may be no idea of respecting the interests of domestic consumers. The maintenance of local tourism infrastructure is becoming an increasingly important prerequisite for the country’s competitiveness, as mass tourism is now replaced by individual travels. The article is aimed at studying the dependencies between the main macroeconomic indicators of the tourism industry, assessing the efficiency of foreign trade. The correlation-regression and cluster analysis has been used in order to confirm or refute the hypothesis if the effectiveness of the state support of the national tourism industry is dependent on the stable functioning of the domestic tourism market, e.g. stimulation of travels by residents. Based on the main macroeconomic indicators of the tourism industry for 136 countries of the world and overview of some national tourism development program, the analysis output has rejected the direct correlation between the support of the domestic market and export potential of the national tourism industry, but has proved the significance of the inner consumer power during the periods of downturns in the global economy for strengthening the country’s export potential.

The pharmaceutical industry is one of the key sectors of the world modern economy, both in terms of its innovativeness and in terms of its contribution to GDP. Many countries and companies strive to achieve pharmaceutical leadership in the global market, by which we mean the volume of foreign sales (we distinguish between country and corporate pharmaceutical leadership). The aim of this article is to identify a number of factors that (to one degree or another) determine the leadership of countries in the global pharmaceutical industry or in the global pharmaceutical market. We hypothesize that the volume of national pharmaceutical exports depends on domestic R&D expenditures carried out by national companies, as well as on the volume of national pharmaceutical imports, that is, on the degree or depth of participation of pharmaceutical companies in the internationally fragmented pharmaceutical chain. Based on the conducted econometric analysis, the authors come to the conclusion that both R&D expenditures and participation in fragmented production have a significant impact on the volume of national pharmaceutical exports. At the same time, in the latter case, the effect of the continuous growth of imports of previous periods for the growth of exports of subsequent periods gets special significance. In the case of R&D expenditures, a special role is played by the cumulative effect of these costs, rather than individual, albeit large investments in pharmaceuticals. When modelling the volumes of pharmaceutical exports, the countries “outpacing” the market were identified, that is, countries with the rates of national pharmaceutical exports exceeding the world ones. Among them were both countries where the headquarters of Big Pharma are located, and countries where there are no major pharmaceutical companies leading. This conclusion means that countries that do not have the headquarters of Big Pharma companies on their territory, which include, in particular, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, also have certain potential windows of opportunity to take a leading position in the global pharmaceutical market. Belarus and Kazakhstan” (no. 20-014-00011/20).

Ghana adopted the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) model in an attempt to stimulate economic growth by moving from an era of import-based to an export-based development strategy and also to potentially improve competiveness in the world market. However, until now, it is not well understood if this move has been beneficial and whether it has positioned Ghana particularly in terms of trade on the global market. This study examines and demonstrate if the adopted SEZ model has had any significant effects on the trade patterns in Ghana. This was undertaken by analyzing the competiveness and the dynamics and/or level of comparative advantage of selected products traded within the SEZs on sectoral levels in the world market using the Balassa Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) index. The results shows that among the investigated products, Ghana shows little and/or no comparative advantage for manufactured goods with a maintained relative competiveness for raw materials. In addition, the RCA index indicates that Ghana has not improved its competiveness even in the exports of its resource intensive products such as Wood and Minerals. Clearly, it was revealed that Ghana appears to not have made any substantial progress towards taking advantage of the dynamic potential of SEZs as a tool for sustainable exports gains transformation. In the light of the evidence shown, some policy implications and recommendation are described.

The article revealed the essence of the company's strategies for entering the foreign market and strategic management. At present, the company has spent much more time in such areas as sales and marketing, increasing revenues than inherent in the management of production to reduce costs. As consumer needs and demands spread rapidly around the world, they become extremely individualized and markets are very diverse in structure; the management of the enterprise, if it seeks to succeed in the market, must strictly adhere to the rule: to focus primarily on increasing revenue, rather than reducing costs. The result of the study is the classification of the strategy according to the following criteria: - market control (proximity to the consumer, the ability to respond quickly to changing needs, control trends in supply and demand); - flexibility (the ability to quickly and adequately adapt activities to changing elements of the business environment); - resource requirements (the need to have a certain amount of financial, material and labor resources for the organization and development of activities); - risk (threat of unforeseen loss of expected profit, income or property, funds in connection with accidental changes in the conditions of economic activity or other circumstances). According to the results of the analysis of theoretical principles, it was found that it is important when developing a strategy to take into account the specifics of the industry in which the company operates. To enter the company it is necessary to analyze the world market of similar products, to conduct a competitive analysis of the industry, to analyze the internal state of the company, as well as the development strategy in the Ukrainian market, to identify mission, goals and objectives. The article identifies the main problems that an enterprise may face when entering the foreign market, formulate and evaluate strategic alternatives to the company's development and analyze the results obtained during the study, and then suggest ways to develop the company in the foreign market. Thus, at this time it is necessary for management to correctly choose the necessary strategy for companies to enter the foreign market, which will allow them to generate income.

The pharmaceutical industry remains today a prominent high-technology sector of the economy, and consistently maintains its competitiveness on the world market at a very high level. Similarly to aircraft and spacecraft manufacturing and the electro-energy industry, pharmaceutical industry belongs to a group of innovative high-technology industries, which are based on scientific research results processed for industrial activities. The purpose of this study is to present and analyse global trends currently observed in the pharmaceutical industry in the world. In an era of increasing globalization, new prime movers of the development of the pharmaceutical industry are the countries from peripheralregions, mainly members of the BRICS group. For this reason, this article focuses on the emerging Asian and Latin American markets, next to the United States and countries of Western Europe. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, Brazil and China deemed the stimulation of the pharmaceutical industry one of the prime determinants of their future economic development. The following paper at first presents characteristics of the pharmaceutical industry products: innovative and generic medicines, medications available without prescription, biological agents, biosimilars and pharmaceutical substrates. Furthermore, the author specifies the properties and rates the dynamics of changes that are taking place in the global pharmaceutical market, while explaining the specifics of the relocation of the pharmaceutical industry. By comparing the number of publications in the field of pharmacy in selected countries of the world, the author confirmed the increasing importance of this industry on the global economy. In the last part of the article, the author presents the structure, number and distribution of clinical trials on a global scale. To illustrate the trends currently taking place in the development of the pharmaceutical industry, the author used raw statistical data in the field of pharmacology and literature on the subject.

This article investigates the impact of countries' comparative advantage following (CAF) strategy on their integration into the world markets for manufactured exports. The analysis uses a panel dataset of 113 countries (comprising both developed and developing countries) over the period 1995-2015. Based on the two-step system Generalized Method of Moments approach, the findings have shown that the CAF development strategy induces a rise in countries' share of manufactured export products in the world's total manufactured exports. Interestingly, the magnitude of this positive effect of the CAF strategy increases as the size of inward FDI stock rises. An important implication of this analysis is that countries that promote industries in line with their comparative advantage are likely to enjoy a greater integration into the world market for manufactured export products, notably when they experience a greater size of inward FDI stock.
