Diabetes melitus is one ofthe metabolic disorders with characteristic hyperglycemia that occurs due to abnormal insulin secretion, insulin resistance or both. The non adherence patients of taking antidiabetic drugs are the main factors that could cause high blood glucose levels, so it is necessary an intervention to achievedoutcome therapy desired. Giving of short message service reminder intervention in diabetes mellitus patients was expected to improved the medication adherence and achieved normal blood glucose levels.This study was conducted to determine the effect of a short message service reminder on medication adherence of ambulatory diabetes melitus patients in Ulin General Hospital Banjarmasin.This study was conducted with quasi-experimental design,the data were taken prospectively during May to June, 2014. The subjects were ambulatory diabetes melitus patients in Ulin General Hospital Banjarmasin who had received oral antidiabetic drugs. Subject who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were 39 patients and had given an intervention for seven days. The data collected by interviews and pill counting on filling sheet. The blood glucose levels data was taken from their medical records.The result showed that giving of a short message service reminder intervention improve patient adherence (p<0,05). Fasting blood glucose level and blood glucose level two hours post prandial have decreased significantly (p<0,05). There were correlation between the patient adherence and the decreasing in fasting blood glucose levels (p=0,050; r=0,316) and blood glucose two hours post prandial levels (p=0,010; r=0,040).Based on these result, it can be concluded that the giving of short message service reminder in diabetes melitus patientshas been improved patient adherence.

ABSTRAK Diabetes Melitus merupakan penyakit yang paling menonjol yang disebabkan oleh gagalnya pengaturan gula darah. Lidah buaya berkhasiat untuk menurunkan kadar gula dalam darah bagi penderita diabetes dan dapat mengontrol tekanan darah. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh jus lidah buaya (AloeBarbadensis Miller) terhadap penurunan glukosa darah puasa GDP) dan 2 Jam PP (Post Prendial) pada penderita DM (Diabetes Melitus). Desain penelitian merupakan Quasi Eksperimental dengan pendekatan one group pretest – postest design. Sampel terbagi menjadi 14 responden. Data dianalisis dengan paired t-test. Hasil menunjukan rata-rata penurunan glukosa darah puasa pada intervensi (28,42 gr/dl) dan glukosa darah 2 jam pp pada intervensi (40,57 gr/dl). Untuk analisis bivariat terdapat perbedaan antara glukosa puasa dan 2 jam pp dengan glukosa darah puasa GDP) dan 2 Jam PP (Post Prendial) pada penderita DM (Diabetes Melitus). Kesimpulan didapatkanlidah buaya dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian jus lidah buaya dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif keperawatan non farmakologi dalam penyakit diabetes melitus. Kata Kunci : Lidah Buaya ; Diabetes Mellitus THE EFFECT OF VEGETABLE VOCATIONAL JUICE ON FAST BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS AND 2 HOURS OF PP (Post Prandial) IN DIABETES MELLITUS  ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus is the most prominent disease caused by the failure of blood sugar regulation. Aloe vera is efficacious can to  reduce blood sugar levels for diabetics and can control blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Aloe Barbadensis Miller on the reduction of fasting blood glucose GDP and 2 hours of PP (post prendial) in patients with diabetes mellitus. The research design is Experimental Quasi with one group pretest - postest design approach. The sample is divided into 14 respondents. Data were analyzed by paired t-test. The results showed an average decrease in fasting blood glucose at intervention (28.42 gr / dl) and 2 hours pp blood glucose at intervention (40.57 gr / dl). For bivariate analysis there was a difference between fasting glucose and 2 hours pp with fasting blood glucose GDP) and 2 hours PP (Post Prendial) in patients with diabetes mellitus. The conclusion is that aloe vera can reduce blood glucose levels. Based on the results of research on aloe vera juice can be an alternative non-pharmacological nursing in diabetes mellitus. Keywords: Aloe Vera ; Diabetes Mellitus

Strawberries (Fragaria x ananassa) and Rome beauty apples (Malus sylvestris) contain high antioxidants to reduce oxidative stress and improve the glycemic response with diabetes mellitus (DM) type II. This study aimed to analyze the effect of strawberries, Rome beauty apples, and their combination to decrease fasting blood glucose levels of type II DM patients. This experimental research used a randomized pre-post-test with a control group design. Subjects were 44 patients divided into four groups: K (control, not given the fruit), P1 (strawberries 200 g/day), P2 (apples 300 g/day), and P3 (the combination strawberries 100 g/day, apples 150 g/day) for 14 days in February–March 2019 in Surakarta. The inclusion criteria were DM patients aged 40–55 years who received oral antidiabetic drug therapy. Exclusion criteria were type II DM patients who, based on the doctor's diagnosis, had complications such as gastritis, hypertension, chronic renal failure, heart disease, liver disease, stroke, cancer, patients with consumption of antioxidant supplements. Mean of blood glucose level on K (149.82±39.125), P1 (141.00±38.079), P2 (128.73±31.841), and P3 (177.73±50.176). Analysis paired t test results showed a significant difference between before and after treatment (p=0.045). To find out which group was the most meaningful, the Bonferroni post hoc test. Decrease of fasting blood glucose levels with group K (−10.55, p>0.05), P1 (−30.18, p<0.05), P2 (40.27, p<0.05), and P3 (−32.91, p<0.05). ANOVA test was used to analyze, and the post hoc Bonferroni test with a control comparison was performed, resulting in p=0.028, in P2 and p>0.05 in P1 and P3. In conclusion, strawberries, Rome beauty apples, and their combination significantly decreased fasting blood glucose levels of type II DM patients, with the highest and most significant decrease in Rome beauty apples. POTENSI STROBERI, APEL ROME BEAUTY, DAN KOMBINASI BARU TERHADAP GULA DARAH PUASA SEBAGAI PENUNJANG TERAPI DIET PADA PASIEN DIABETES MELITUS TIPE IIStroberi (Fragaria x ananassa) dan apel Rome beauty (Malus sylvestris) mengandung antioksidan tinggi untuk mengurangi stres oksidatif dan memperbaiki respons glikemik pada diabetes melitus (DM) tipe II. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis pengaruh buah stroberi, apel Rome beauty, dan kombinasinya terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah puasa pasien DM tipe II. Jenis penelitian eksperimen dengan rancangan randomized pre-post-test dengan control group design. Subjek penelitian 44 pasien yang dibagi empat kelompok, yaitu K (kontrol tidak diberi buah), P1 (stroberi 200 g/hari), P2 (apel Rome beauty 300 g/hari) dan P3 (kombinasi stroberi 100 g/hari dan apel 150 g/hari) selama 14 hari pada bulan Februari–Maret 2020 di Surakarta. Kriteria inklusi adalah pasien DM usia 40–55 tahun yang mendapat terapi obat antidiabetik oral. Kriteria eksklusi adalah pasien DM tipe II yang berdasar atas diagnosis dokter mengalami komplikasi seperti mag, hipertensi, gagal ginjal kronik, penyakit jantung, penyakit hati, strok, kanker, dan pasien dengan konsumsi suplemen antioksidan. Kadar glukosa darah rerata pada K (149,82±39,125), P1 (141,00±38,079), P2 (128,73±31,841), dan P3 (177,73±50,176). Hasil analisis paired t test menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan (p=0,045). Untuk mengetahui kelompok mana yang paling bermakna, dilakukan Uji Post Hoc Bonferroni. Penurunan kadar glukosa darah puasa pada K (−10,55; p>0,05), P1 (−30,18; p<0,05), P2 (−40,27; p<0,05), dan P3 (−32,91; p<0,05). Analisis dilakukan dengan uji ANOVA dan Uji Post Hoc Bonferroni dengan perbandingan kontrol menghasilkan p=0,028 pada P2 serta p>0,05 pada P1 dan P3. Simpulan, pemberian stroberi, apel Rome beauty, dan kombinasinya signifikan menurunkan kadar glukosa darah puasa pasien DM tipe II dengan penurunan tertinggi dan bermakna pada apel Rome beauty.

Abstract:Blood glucose levels are affected by several factors such as age, insulin hormone, emotion, stress, type and amount of food consumed and physical activities. Lifestyle changes such as eating foods lacking of fiber and contain lots of sugar is now very popular, especially in young people. This type of diet is one of the risk factors for overweight and if it lasts continuously will increase the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus. The aim of this descriptive study was to find out the level of fasting blood glucose of students of Faculty of Medicine year 2011 Sam Ratulangi University with Body Mass Index (BMI) 18.5-22.9 kg/m2. Data was collected by measuring BMI and determine fasting blood glucose level through laboratory examination. The results of this study showed that all of 31 respondens, consist of 9 men (29,03%) and 22 women (70,96%) had normal blood glucose levels (93,55%). From the result can be concluded that the blood glucose levels at students year 2011 Faculty of Medicine Sam Ratulangi University with BMI 18,5-22,9 kg/m2 mostly are in normal levels.Keywords: fasting blood glucose, students year 2011, BMI 18.5- 22.9 kg/m2.Abstrak: Kadar glukosa darah dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor seperti usia, hormon insulin, emosi, stress, jenis dan jumlah makanan yang dikonsumsi serta aktivitas fisik yang dilakukan. Perubahan gaya hidup seperti pergeseran pola makan dengan makanan kurang serat dan mengandung banyak gula kini sangat digemari terutama oleh anak muda. Hal ini menjadi salah satu faktor risiko kelebihan berat badan dan bila berlangsung terus-menerus akan meningkatkan insiden penyakit Diabetes Melitus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar glukosa darah puasa pada mahasiswa angkatan 2011 Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sam Ratulangi dengan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) 18,5-22,9 kg/m2. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif. Responden dari penelitian ini berusia 18-20 tahun. Responden terdiri dari laki-laki sebanyak 9 orang dan perempuan sebanyak 22 orang. Data diperoleh dengan pengukuran Indeks Massa Tubuh dan pemeriksaan laboratorium yaitu kadar glukosa darah puasa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 31 responden yang terdiri dari 9 orang laki-laki (29,03%) dan 22 orang perempuan (70,96%), hampir semua (93,55%) memiliki kadar glukosa darah normal. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pada mahasiswa angkatan 2011 Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sam Ratulangi dengan IMT 18,5-22,9 kg/m2 sebagian besar memiliki kadar glukosa darah puasa yang normal.Kata Kunci: Glukosa darah puasa, mahasiswa angkatan 2011, IMT 18,5-22,9 kg/m2.

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease that has 2 main targets of treatment, keeping the glucose levels within normalrange, and preventing complications. The purposed of this research is to know the description of blood glucosemonitoring consisting of fasting blood glucose, HbA1C, and self monitoring blood glucose (SMBG). This was aqualitative research by using observation method and deep interview to ten informant. The results showed thecheckup of fasting blood glucose levels have been going well with some obstacles, for instance, running out ofglucose strips. Puskesmas ‘X’ did not perform HbA1C checkup due to unavailability of laboratory equipment. OverallDM patients did not perform SMBG because they did not have the device, but the researchers obtained one patientwho had a device at home, but the patient still chose to check his blood glucose at the puskesmas because the lowknowledge of the patient to perform SMBG.

AbstrakAspartam merupakan gula pengganti rendah kalori yang sering dikonsumsi oleh pengidap diabetes, tetapi keamanannya masih kontroversi. Intensitas rasa manis aspartam yang tinggi diduga dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah. Penelitian lain menyebutkan hasil metabolisme aspartam berupa asam aspartat dan fenilalanin dapat menjadi prekursor glukosa melalui glukoneogenesis. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian aspartam terhadap kadar glukosa darah tikus diabetes melitus diinduksi aloksan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental dengan post-test only control group design. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 20 ekor tikus Wistar jantan yang dibagi menjadi kelompok kontrol negatif (KN), kontrol positif (KP), perlakuan 1 (P1), perlakuan 2 (P2). Aloksan 150 mg/kgBB diinduksikan pada kelompok KP dan P2, aspartam 315 mg/kgBB diberikan pada kelompok P1 dan P2 selama 4 minggu. Kadar glukosa darah puasa diukur setelah 4 minggu menggunakan spektrofotometer. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan rerata kadar glukosa darah puasa kelompok KN (88,39 mg/dL), KP (134,11 mg/dL), P1 (93,95 mg/dL), dan P2 (66,66 mg/dL). Analisis data dengan Uji ANOVA nilai p= 0,000 (p<0,05), terdapat perbedaan kadar glukosa darah puasa yang bermakna pada semua kelompok. Keimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh pemberian aspartam terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah puasa tikus diabetes melitus diinduksi aloksan.Kata kunci: aspartam, kadar glukosa darah, diabetes melitus, aloksanAbstractAspartame is a low-calorie sugar substitute that is often consumed by people with diabetes, but the safety of aspartame is still controversial. The high intensity of aspartame sweetness could be expected to lower blood glucose levels. Other study said the results of the metabolism of aspartame such aspartic acids and phenylalanine which can be a precursor of glucose through gluconeogenesis. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of aspartame on blood glucose levels of alloxan induced diabetic rats. This study is an experimental study with a post-test only control group design. Twenty male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups: negative control (KN), positive control (KP), treatment 1 (P1), treatment 2 (P2). Alloxan 150 mg/kg body weight induced in KP and P2 groups, aspartame 315 mg/kg body weight administered on P1 and P2 groups for 4 weeks. Fasting blood glucose levels were measured after 4 weeks using a spectrophotometer. The results of this study, the mean fasting blood glucose levels KN group (88.39 mg/dL), KP (134.11 mg/dL), P1 (93.95 mg/dL), and P2 (66.66 mg/dL). Data were analyzed using ANOVA test, p-value=0.000 ( p<0.05 ), there are differences in fasting blood glucose levels were significant in all groups. Health status and micronutrient intake among vegetarian and non-vegetarian in BaliBackground: Several studies have reported that vegetarian diets have health benefits for those adopting the diets.Objective: This study aimed to compare anemia status and micronutrient intake between vegetarians and non-vegetarians in Bali.Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Bali. A total of 240 samples consisting of 160 vegetarians and 80 non-vegetarians were randomly selected. Hemoglobin (Hb) and fasting blood sugar levels were measured using the cyanmethemoglobin method and enzymatic colorimetric, respectively. Meanwhile, the data on micronutrient intakes were collected by interviews using the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQFFQ). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the Mann-Whitney test was performed to analyze the differences.Results: The study’s results showed that the mean Hb levels in the vegetarian group were significantly lower than non-vegetarians (p=0.002; p<0.05), and the anemia status in vegetarian women were higher (22.5%) than non-vegetarian women (2.5%). The mean fasting blood glucose level in non-vegetarians was significantly higher than in the vegetarian group (p=0.000; p<0.05). There were no differences in zinc (Zn) intake between vegetarians and non-vegetarians, but there were significant differences (p<0.05) in vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B12, folic acid, magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), and iron (Fe) intakes.Conclusions: There were differences in anemia status and fasting blood glucose levels between vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The fasting blood glucose levels of non-vegetarians were higher than vegetarians, and there were differences in the intake of certain micronutrients between vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the antidiabetic activity of papaya flower ethanol extract (Carica papaya L.) against male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by alloxan. This research is experimental. Fifteen rats were divided into 5 treatment groups, each group consisted of 3 rats. The first group was the negative control group given Aquades, the second group was positive control given Glibenklamid, the three groups were 200 mg dose variation groups, four groups were 400 mg dose variations, and the five groups were 800 mg dose variations. Previously, rats were examined fasting blood glucose levels, then mice were induced by an alloxan dose of 120 mg / kgBW intraperitoneally. On the 3rd day blood glucose levels were examined and then treated according to groups for 7 days, measurement of blood glucose levels after the treatment was carried out once every 3 days namely day 3, day 7, and day 10. Data obtained were then analyzed statistically using SPSS , including normality test (Shapiro-Wilk), homogeneity test (Levene), ANOVA test (One way). The results of this study indicate that Papaya Flower (Carica papaya L.) Terhadap Tikus Putih Jantan (Rattus norvegicus) Yang Diinduksi Aloksan. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental. Sebanyak 15 ekor tikus dibagi ke dalam 5 kelompok perlakuan masing- masing kelompok terdiri dari 3 ekor tikus. Kelompok pertama kelompok Kontrol negatif yang diberikan Aquades, Kelompok kedua Kontrol Positif yang diberikan Glibenklamid, kelompok tiga kelompok variasi dosis 200 mg, kelompok empat kelompok variasi dosis 400 mg, dan kelompok lima kelompok variasi dosis 800 mg. Sebelumnya tikus dilakukan pemeriksaan kadar glukosa darah puasa, selanjutnya tikus diinduksi Aloksan dosis 120 mg/kgBB secara intraperitoneal. Pada hari ke 3 diperiksa kadar Glukosa darah kemudian diberikan perlakuan sesuai kelompok selama 7 hari, pengukuran kadar glukosa darah setelah perlakuan dilakukan 3 hari sekali yaitu hari ke 3, hari ke 7, dan hari ke 10. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan SPSS, meliputi uji normalitas (Shapiro-Wilk), uji homogenitas (Levene), uji ANOVA (One way). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Ekstrak Etanol Bunga Pepaya (Carica papaya L.)  dapat memberikan efek penurunan kadar glukosa darah yang paling baik yaitu pada dosis 800 mg. Kata kunci : Antidiabetik, Ekstrak Bunga pepaya (Carica papaya L.), Diabettes Mellitus, TikusPutih Jantan (Rattus norvegicus), Aloksan.
