The paper focuses on comparisons of the size of the labour force between cooperatives and other legal forms of enterprises in agricultural area. Precisely, the purpose of the paper is to analyse differences between cooperatives and other enterprises in the agricultural sector in the context of employment. An empirical analysis is done on the example of Polish agricultural production cooperatives (APC) and other farming entities. The paper brings answers to the following research questions: Do the agricultural cooperatives provide more employment than other farming entities? What was the level of employment in agricultural cooperatives and other farming entities and what will it be? How does the level of employment influence the profitability of agricultural cooperatives and other farming entities? The conclusions are made on the basis of an analysis of the “List of the 300 best agricultural enterprises” prepared by the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics – the National Research Institute in Poland. The analysis includes the following types of agricultural enterprises: agricultural production cooperatives, government-owned companies, individual farms, private companies and other farming entities. The time range of this research covers the years 2009–2015. The comparisons are made using analysis of variance, extrapolation method and correlation analysis. The main finding is that there are no clear and significant differences between agricultural production cooperatives and other farming entities in terms of the level of employment, its impact on the overall profitability and partially on increase thereof. However, some of the entities are able to create a lot of jobs. Moreover, they can increase the return on sales by increasing the level of employment and maintain the existing jobs even in the time of a crisis.

The article analyzes the peculiarities of legal relations in the sphere of agribusiness on the basis of research on agrarian relations, economic activity (entrepreneurship) and agro-industrial complex. A comprehensive analysis of relations in the field of business in the agricultural sector is given. Their object and subject composition is established, which is narrower than in agrarian-legal relations. It is emphasized that the object of legal relations in the field of agribusiness, the essence of which is expressed through action - different in content and character, is pluralistic in nature, which causes its multilevel and complexity. The subjects of legal relations in the said sphere are agricultural enterprises of various organizational and legal forms (farms, agricultural cooperatives, agricultural joint-stock companies, agricultural limited liability companies, agricultural private enterprises, etc.), as well as those providing agricultural production and production. products (enterprises in the field of information, logistical and logistical support. The same aspect explores the relationship between agribusiness and agro-industrial complex, which are not inherently identical concepts. The basis for their isolation is the orientation of business entities: in the agro-industrial complex - production and marketing, and in agribusiness - marketing.

The article deals with the study of the issue of cooperative and integration relations developmentin pig production industry. It was proved that integration, as well as cooperation, reflect basically the same process - production and economic cooperation of economic entities engaged in different types of production and economic activities. However, they are parts of the technological process aimed to improve the efficiency of final production or worksperformance and servicesprovision. It was found out that setting the conditions for effective development of pig farming in domestic agricultural enterprises requires strengthening the development of integration and cooperation on the basis of long-term partnerships for small, medium and large agricultural enterprises - pig products manufacturers. It is obvious that small farms with a pig population of up to 50 heads must intensify the process of cooperatives establishmentand cooperativesfunctioning improvement in order to increase the efficiency of pig production and ensure product competitiveness, especially in the domestic market. These farms need to be involved in competitive pork supply chains based on the organization of slaughterhouses, transportation process, products preparation for sale, use of local brands, pork processing based on regional traditions, organization of modern forms of wholesale and retail trade. The analysis of tendencies and features of development of cooperation in agriculture based on surveys involving heads and leading experts of the pig meat production as well as generalizations of researchresults of the Ukrainian scientists give the grounds to recommend certain models of production cooperation in pig breeding. These include establishing agricultural production cooperatives (APC) on the basis of highly marketable personal peasant farmsrising three pigs and more and owning over 1 hectare of landarea within one settlement. Cooperation can be used to unite land plots owned by APCs into a single array for the purpose of their mechanized cultivation and growing agricultural crops for pig feed. It also providesestablishing highly concentrated agricultural production cooperatives on the basis of unprofitable farms of the corporate sector of other organizational and legal forms of management with a clear division of specialized structural units operating on the basis of internal settlement. Thus, the development of integration processes has become of strategic importance, primarilydue to the need to stabilize the production process of pig products in agricultural enterprises, to restore broken industrial and economic relationships, parity of all industries and economic entitiesinterests. Pig producers are participants in integration processes and they aim to reduce the productionassociated risk, its dependence on climatic conditions, the spontaneity of the pig and feed productsmarket, the need to increase the productioncompetitiveness. Processing companies also seek to focus on obtaining stable incomes, which requires сreating a reliable raw material base and beingthe marketsparticipants. It was proved that incorporation of a large number of structural units with commodity relationsis the common feature of agricultural production cooperatives and vertically integrated structures. However, the difference between these organizational and legal formsis worth pointing noting - structural units of agricultural holdings are mostly legal entities while agricultural cooperatives do not have such a status. However, both of the above-mentioned organizational and legal forms of settlement use the cost component, i.e.transfer prices, which are similar to domestic onesin their economic nature. Therefore, the proposed approaches to the introduction of transfer pricing can be used both in agricultural production cooperatives and in vertically integrated structures. Key words: integration, cooperation, agricultural cooperatives, agroholdings, pig breeding, production, sales.

One of the most important directions in this context is the problems of organizational and legal forms of development of entrepreneurial activity in agriculture. Effective development of entrepreneurial activity in agriculture is hindered by poor adaptation to market conditions and low investment attractiveness of agrarian production and economic formations, unsystematic and dispersed revenues for modernization of production activities, insufficient state support, imperfection of the organizational and economic mechanism for managing the development of various organizational and legal forms of entrepreneurial activity activities in the agrarian sector. In the historical aspect of the development of entrepreneurial activity there are the following forms: private farms, individual holdings, households, peasant farms, private and state agricultural enterprises, collective farms, in particular peasant unions, agricultural companies, inter-farm enterprises and associations, of various kinds and types societies that are divided in form of association and level of responsibility. The most important of these, which have become accustomed and function in agriculture, are agricultural enterprises, in particular private ones, and households. However, today the state of development of entrepreneurial activity in the agroindustrial complex remains rather complicated and requires complex comprehensive reforms, the main role of which should be owned by the state. That is why among the objects of state regulation a special place should occupy the agrarian sector of the economy and the forms of entrepreneurial activity, in particular the agrarian market and the formation of its infrastructure, which is conditioned by the state regulation. The main problems of the agrarian sector development include the low efficiency of agricultural production and the problem of deformation of price proportions, the solution of which is directly related to the perfection of the infrastructure and mechanisms for regulating the agricultural market. The process of establishing enterprises on the basis of co-operation and their integration with processing enterprises will reflect the interests of agricultural producers and promote their stable and efficient development. The most effective form of co-operation is production, sales and service cooperatives, created on the basis of cooperation of shares and natural forage lands, fixed assets, livestock of animals that unite agricultural producers, households, purchasers, enterprises of the processing industry, various catering enterprises, institutions and organizations. Co-operation, by its very nature, is an economic and voluntary phenomenon. Integration is the next stage of effective economic forms of cooperation among the participants in the agrarian market.

The objective of the article is to study the possibilities of agricultural production and agricultural processing and search for the prospects of development of the industry of Ukraine. Methodology. The following analyses are carried out: profitability and cost-effectiveness (rate of return) of the agricultural products, the level of consumption of basic food products in Ukraine, availability of agricultural machinery at agricultural enterprises, the structure and growth rate of purchase of agricultural machinery at agricultural enterprises of Ukraine. Results. It is proved that a low level of profitability in the agricultural sector is a significant violation of price parity – there is a deterioration in the ratio of the prices of agriculture producers for sold products, and prices for acquired industrial goods, and for the services of commercial and technical purpose, i.e. there is a situation of non-conformity of revenues and costs of agricultural production. It should be noted that the level of the development of the agricultural complex, first of all, is determined by the quality and volume of food consumed by the population. Practical implications. During the country's independence, the profitability of production of all major products has decreased significantly and negative trends are observed. Comparing the data of 2019 with 1990, we can see that part of the profitable production has transferred to the unprofitable. The analysis of the dynamics of consumption of major food groups over the past two decades shows that for the period from 2000 to 2014 there was an increase in consumption of milk and dairy products by 12%; meat and meat products by 65%; eggs by 86.7%; potatoes by 4%, vegetables and melons by 60.5%; fruits, berries and grapes by 78.5%; fish and fish products by 32.1%; oils by 39.4%. During this period, there was a decrease in the positions of bread and bread products by 13% and sugar by 1.4%. Value/originality. The low intensity of the agricultural sector of Ukraine is largely due to the neglect of the requirements of agricultural machinery and production technology. It is important to apply the required amount of mineral fertilizers, which is one of the important technological requirements for growing crops. Therefore, the effective development of this industry requires a modern, effective and scientifically sound financing program by attracting investment and soft loans.

Agriculture is an important sector in South Africa, and the impact that education and human development would have made in this sector via non-white small scale farming was limited through biased policies of the apartheid era. Due to apartheid laws, South Africa found itself with high levels of unskilled labour force. This study seeks to find the impacts of literacy rate and human development indices on agricultural production using Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) Bounds Test approach to co-integration. A long run relationship among the variables, agricultural production (agriculture GDP), literacy rate and human development indices were found. Literacy rate has a positively significant effect on agricultural production in the long run while Human Development Index has a positive and significant impact in the short run. This indicates that the apartheid regime fell short in recognizing the positive effect of education in the agricultural sector by denying a descent education to the majority of non-whites which were farm labourers or small scale farmers. This study provides some policy recommendations.

The peculiarities of the formation of new organizational and production structures of the agricultural sector of the Bulgarian economy in terms of integration into the European Union are considered. One of the conditions for ensuring the competitiveness of Bulgarian agriculture was the creation of a significant number of farms of various organizational and legal forms. Peculiarities of creation and functioning of private agricultural enterprises against the background of privatization of former labor cooperatives and state farms with observance of a clearly regulated legislative procedure are studied. The peculiarities of creating private agricultural farms in two forms are generalized: private households and large agro-firms. Of course, there were some difficulties with the privatization of agricultural machinery, equipment, technical and farm buildings. Also, difficulties arose with the management of agricultural commodity production due to the long absence of a tradition of private property in agriculture. It is proved that one of the features of the formation of new organizational and production structures was their creation on the basis of decolectivization and privatization. The main task of this process was to create an efficient and competitive environment for the development of the agricultural sector. The basis of agricultural management in Bulgaria in the period 1996-2007 were private agricultural enterprises, which were more efficient in their activities than other organizational and legal forms of management. However, the imperfection of the management system of the agricultural sector did not allow to accelerate the process of productivity of the industry, to attract the latest scientific advances and more efficient use of logistics. In the pre-integration period, no program of management actions for the functioning of agricultural enterprises was developed, which did not contribute to the growth of their financial and economic indicators and the competitiveness of these farms.
