Mathematical literacy is mathematical thinking to examine and analyze a phenomenon, and solve problems for many scientific disciplines. The development of mathematical literacy based on HOTS allows students to ask questions, identify problems, and engage problem solving discussions. Soft skills of self-efficacy belief in self-ability also contributes to the students’ problem solving. The purposes of this study were to describe the quality of Discovery Learning-HOTS on mathematical literacy, to describe students' mathematical literacy based on self-efficacy, and to analyze the effect of self-efficacy on mathematical literacy. The research subjects were students of grade X of SMA 1 Slawi Senior High School. The result of this research showed that Discovery Learning-HOTS had positive effect towards students' mathematical literacy. Students with high self-efficacy mastered four aspects of the process in mathematical literacy very well, and mastered the other three aspects well with few mistakes. Students with medium self-efficacy mastered one aspect very well, and the other six aspects well with some mistakes. Furthermore, students with low self-efficacy, mastered five aspects not as well as the medium, and had not been able to master the other two aspects. Self-efficacy had positive effect of 34.6% towards mathematical literacy in Discovery Learning-HOTS

The process of information systems planning is critically dependent on the users of the system. The involvement and participation of these users and its impact on the effectiveness of IS planning has not been studied in the literature. In this article we address the effect of user involvement and participation on the quality of IS planning projects. This was done through an exploratory quasi-experiment study conducted in an academic setting. We studied the effects of user involvement using two sets of teams doing IS planning exercises, one in which the user was involved as part of the project team and the other where the user was outside the project team, but was involved in interviews and reviews of project artifacts. We also measured the extent of user participation through a survey of participants engaged in the IS planning projects. Results indicate that user involvement has significant positive effect on user participation, as well as on the quality of IS planning projects. However the effect of user participation on the quality of projects is mixed and needs further research.

The reuse of domestic wastewater for irrigation of floriculture crops is a very promising option in water-scarce areas. On the other hand, there are concerns about the effect of that kind low-quality water on plant growth. The present work examined the effect of irrigation with several type of treated domestic wastewater on production of carnations. Potted plants were irrigated with primary treated, secondary treated and tertiary treated wastewater as well as with water and water with fertilizer. The results shown that carnations can be irrigated with treated wastewater as the growth and quality of plant is equal or better compared with water. Furthermore, it was found that nutrients and micro-elements contained in treated wastewater had as a result positive effect on characteristics of carnations.

A study of people solving facility layout problems was made to estimate the effects of problem features on the quality of solutions obtained by novice and experienced subjects. An empirical experiment was conducted. Three features of these problems which were systematically varied in this study were: 1. Problem size, 2. Fraction of strong inter-departmental relationships, and 3. Fraction of departments requiring a non-standard amount of floor space. Both quantitative and subjective layout evaluations were made. It was found that layout quality was not affected by feature 3 for any values of the other features, using either evaluation method, and with either novice or experienced subjects. However, feature 2 proved to be significant for all experimental conditions, both evaluation methods, and with both subject groups. Feature 1 was a significant feature in some situations, but was not significant in others. Some differences in problem solving approaches were observed. There was a significant relationship between the design of higher quality layouts by experienced subjects and the use of a Relationship Diagram. Reducing the problem size and/or percentage of strong inter-departmental relationships in a problem may make a higher quality layout easier to achieve.

In order for the translator to be able to translate the source text into the target language in a relevant way, the strata of the translated text through which relevance can be obtained (pragmatic, pragmatic-semantic, and semantic strata) should be equalized to that of the source text (Li & Luo, 2004). The translator can achieve this by raising his/her awareness of the source and target language pragmatic perspectives. To investigate the actual effect of developing knowledge of pragmatic perspectives of the source language and the target language on the quality of translation of culture-bound texts, the current study was conducted on 64 Iranian undergraduate students of English translation. The study consisted of three phases: 1) administering a culture-bound text to be translated by all participants, 2) dividing participants into two groups: one merely receiving translation exercises while the other receiving metapragmatic discussions of the pragmatic perspectives of the source language along with translation exercises, and 3) assessing the translation quality of both groups immediately and two months following the treatment. The study revealed the significant positive effect of pragmatic instruction on improving the quality of translation of culture-bound texts and maintaining the obtained knowledge. The pedagogical implications of the findings suggested incorporating the pragmalinguistic and sociopragmatic perspectives of the source language and their distinctions with the pragmalinguistic and sociopragmatic perspectives of the target language into translation classes as an integral part of translation classes.

This study aims to describe procedural fluency in solving problems for students of the Mathematics Education Department at the STKIP Pamane Talino who obtain high and low mathematical dispositions through learning assisted by Google Classroom. This research is a qualitative research. The research subjects were two students in the third semester. Subjects were selected by purposive sampling. The research data was obtained by tests and interviews, and the validity of the data was obtained by using the triangulation method. The techniques of data analysis were trough: 1) classifying data into three indicators of the smoothness of the procedure; namely: a) implementing procedures appropriately, b) selecting and utilizing procedures, c) modifying procedures, then reducing data that are not included in the 3 indicators; 2) presenting data in a narrative; 3) concluding the procedural fluency obtained from the indicators of procedural fluency in problem-solving steps. The results of the high mathematical disposition analysis showed that students had excellent procedural skills because they could apply procedures appropriately. They were able to select and utilize procedures accurately, and were able to apply procedures properly and flexibly. In the other side, the students with low mathematical disposition, they had poor procedural skills because even though they were able to apply the procedure, choose, and use the procedure appropriately, they still could not comply with the procedure appropriately and accurately for they answered all the questions incorrectly.
