Introduction: The incidence of acute and chronic injuries increases every year. Most injuries in the world population, as many as 48%, are caused by trauma or surgery. the highest incidence of wounds in the world based on the etiology was from surgery, which was 110.30 million cases. One of the handlings of wounds on the skin can be done by giving herbal medicines, which can be easily accessed by the public, such as binahong leaves and papaya leaves. Purpose: To analyze the effectiveness of giving 40% binahong leaf extract cream and 40% papaya leaf extract cream on the wound distance in the white rat wound healing process. Method: this study is an experimental study with post-test only control group design approach. The sampling technique used in this study was a random sampling method where the number of samples was calculated using the Federer formula, with a total sample of 28 white rats. The distance of the wound was measured using a micrometer. Results: Twenty-eight wound distance on rats were measured as subjects of the study and then treated with binahong leaf extract cream and papaya leaf extract cream, then the wound distance of each treatment was measured using a micrometer. According to the results, 40% binahong leaf extract cream and 40% papaya leaf extract cream showed better effectiveness in reducing the wound distance of white rat incision than the negative control group (cream base) and positive control group (gentamicin ointment). According to the Mann Whitney test comparing the P1 group (40% binahong leaf extract cream) and P2 (40% papaya leaf extract cream), p-value >0.05, which is 0.543, which means that P1 has no significant mean difference with P2. Conclusion: There was no significant difference in effectiveness between the treatment of 40% binahong leaf extract cream and 40% papaya leaf extract cream.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of policresulen treatment with various concentrations on the wound healing in buccal mucosa of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) through macroscopically observation. The number of 54 rats were divided into six treatment groups policresulen with concentration of 36%, 10%, 5%, 1%, 0.3% and one control group. The buccal mucosal injury was made with a 0.5 cm biopsy punch. The treatment of mucosal injury was conducted by dropped policresulen on the 2nd day until the 5th day after the injury. Macroscopic observation under a stereo micro-scope was conducted on the wound diameter, redness, swelling, and necrose. The results showed that wound healing was influenced significantly with concentration of the policresulen. The best healing was shown on lowest concentration marked which has lowest size of the wound diameter (0.50 ± 0.00 cm), the lowest tissue redness (0.00 ± 0.00), lowest final swelling at a concentration of 0.3%. Clinical evaluation of wound tissue necrose parameters which were seen to be most severe at 10% policresulen administration followed by 36% concentration and the least necrose shown on policresulen administration 0.3%. Therefore, based on macroscopic images with parameters of wound diameter, redness, swelling, and necrose suggested that policresulen used for wound healing process are at a concentration of 0.3%.

Background: Diabetic ulcer is an open wound on the skin layer to the dermis due to hyperglycemia and neuropathy. This condition often causes infection and becomes an inhibitor in the wound healing process. Red fruit oil soap can be used as an alternative cleansing to reduce the number of bacterial colonies and accelerate the wound healing process.Aims: This present study aimed to observe the effect of red fruit oil soap in the cleansing process to reduce the number of bacterial colonies and the wound healing process in grade II Diabetic ulcer patientsMethods: This is a quasi-experimental study with the pre-test post-test non-equivalent control group design. Wound cleansing in the intervention group used 0.9% NaCl solution and red fruit oil soap with a pH of 5.74, while the wound cleansing in the control group used 0.9% NaCl solution. Bacterial colonies were assessed and the type of bacteria was observed by the swab method. The wound healing was assessed with Bates-Jensen Wound Assessment Tool (BWAT) instrument for 14 days with observations every 3 days. Analysis test used Mann Whitney and Repeated Measure ANOVA.Results: There was no difference in the mean of the number of bacterial colonies between the wounds that were cleansed with 0.9% NaCl solution and red fruit oil soap and the wounds which were cleansed by using 0.9% NaCl solution (p> 0.05). The mean of the number of colonies in the intervention group until the 14th day reduced by 3.14x106 and in the control group was reduced h 1.40x106. There was a significant decrease in the wound healing scores in each group, in each assessment for 14 days. Conclusion: This study found that the wound cleansing using red fruit oil soap and 0.9% NaCl solution could reduce the number of bacterial colonies on the wound surface and accelerate the wound healing process among patients with grade II diabetic ulcer.
